Cancel culture is lowkey bullying. Even if you apologize they still won’t stfu or stop. I don’t think people realize humans are flawed & make mistakes.
That’s just the problem-people LOVE forgetting that celebrities are humans at all. As someone who is probably on the high-functioning side of the autism spectrum and has struggled in the past with understanding social cues, I think these indicators are stupid. Reading and guessing somebody’s intent is something everyone should learn to do, even if it’s not as easy for them. In fact, I think the whole concept of neurodivergents vs neuronormatives is stupid, since nobody’s really completely normal. It’s the kind of messaging that makes people hate those they see as more “normal” and embrace their struggles as part of their identity.
Ngl some of the tone thingies like /s seems pretty useful for text. It sounds a little odd for actual in person speech, but it'd be pretty cool to know if someone isn't mad or whatever when they're texting because usually you read someone's messages in their voice and your brain automatically gives it a tone and sometimes due to the connotation of the words you could come to the opposite conclusion of what they meant
“If you’re not neurodivergent, you can’t forgive him” Well then, if you’re not neurodivergent you can’t get mad at him, right? You’re not the one being offended.
@@lupinsredjacket3191 thats actually very different. BLM is a movement about killing people that arent white. this is about being offended by a joke that doesnt even affect the people youre defending if you get what i mean?
@@worm4165 Yes, I understand. However, it has a similar concept. In TO1O's situation, it's neurotypical people getting offended on behalf of the neuro-atypical people. In BLM's situation, it's white people getting offended & protesting (often times violently) on behalf of black people. In other cases, like modern "feminism", it's feminists getting offended & demanding ridiculous crap on behalf of women who don't see men as "oppressors". It's a pattern I'm beginning to notice. I'm going to call it "White Knight Syndrome".
I personally use tone indicators because I don't understand tones sometimes. But not everyone has to! It's a person's choice if they want to! Wow! How shocking Twitter! 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
This is ridiculous. I use tone indicators (in DMs mostly) but the joke really wasn’t bad. Like… He apologized for it? It wasn’t that big of a deal in the first place. Twitter needs to chill
i know that i’m extremely late lol, but tone indicators help me a lot, like ex: sometimes my friends will joke about hating me, sometimes this will freak me out because i can’t tell if they’re joking or not, so seeing /j once in a while really helps
I’m ND (adhd and dyslexia pogchamp) and can say with full confidence that using /srs , /j or any of those other indicators can be really helpful and stress-relieving, especially for over thinkers like myself :D Ive had a buncha times with my friends where they’re insulting me as a joke and my dumbass will sit there and be like “do they hate me or are we making some funnies” And I mean I get why some people could think that using the indicators is over the top and unnecessary, but those are probably the people that don’t need them to know what’s happening in a conversation y’know???? Oh also James is in the right fuck twitter lmao
As someone with Aspergers and ADHD, I think Tone Insicators are stupid, probably just a job from someone who thought it would ve genuinelly serious, but, speaking from my own experience, I feel mocked when people think I need this
honestly it took me a while to learn about tone indicators and I didn’t know why they were important until now, so yeah uhm I don’t see what James did wrong
@@backroomsaucy468 he was making a joke. He wasn’t mocking ND. I’m sorry if the joke offended you, but it was a mistake and he already removed the tweet. You don’t need to hate someone forever for making one mistake. Do you expect everyone to be perfect? Plus James learned his lesson, even though the tweet was a joke.
So the /j and other have a meaning behind them? I thought that people would use them in case someone didn't understand if something is a joke or serious etc.
I really like tone indicators tbh cause I have a huge problem with interpreting tone in text. It's nice for me to know for sure if someone is joking so I don't panic about what they say. Without those indications there's a good chance that I'll read the text wrong
@Prayingmantis 211 same, I'm probably considered ND since I have ADHD and thus can't pick up on social cues often; I use /s all the time and didn't even realize that it was meant to help ND people either
@dumb artist I mean I’ve never had trouble, but I struggle with body language and facial expressions rather than voice tones, so they aren’t that relevant for me.
I have autism myself, aspergers to be exact, I can forgive him through and THROUGH for this. He actually was getting cancelled for making a joke about uh.. immigrants? And it was sarcasm? Not supposed to be offensive..? I don’t need these to pick up on cues see, I get others might, but there is no way these are used by people WITHOUT thinking that ND human beings are absolutely stupid.
as a neurodivergent person, this is ridiculous lol people can make mistakes. i myself didn’t know what they meant at first and i often have to look it up when i see one i don’t know yet
@@wellfare3.061 oh, i said its nice to see the people who are being “bullied” make comments saying they dont really care about them saying that and that they are fine with it
tbh I feel like people are really just overreacting over this, like how can someone be a fan of this dude for years then turn around and say "I can't support you anymore" because of a tweet that isn't even that offensive that was up for less than an hour, at least he apologized jeez. //
People find a satisfaction in canceling someone, catching them while they make a mistake and sadistically trying to ruin their reputation. They want to feel superior and inferiorise you so they do it lol

“If you’re not neurodivergent, you can’t forgive him”
Well then, if you’re not neurodivergent you can’t get mad at him, right? You’re not the one being offended.
Shhh they aren't ready for this talk

That is entirely logical and uses common sense.
Two things that are apparently no longer allowed on twitter
Exactly
Ok but the worst is people that aren’t ND are getting offended, but actual ND people are not offended by all this. Like what?
its twitter
yeah, very weird, its almost as if they're baby-ing ND people
Same can be applied to movements like BLM. Most of BLM's supporters tend to be white, middle-to-upper-class Americans.
@@lupinsredjacket3191 thats actually very different. BLM is a movement about killing people that arent white. this is about being offended by a joke that doesnt even affect the people youre defending if you get what i mean?
@@worm4165
Yes, I understand.

I’m ND (adhd and dyslexia pogchamp) and can say with full confidence that using /srs , /j or any of those other indicators can be really helpful and stress-relieving, especially for over thinkers like myself :D Ive had a buncha times with my friends where they’re insulting me as a joke and my dumbass will sit there and be like “do they hate me or are we making some funnies”
And I mean I get why some people could think that using the indicators is over the top and unnecessary, but those are probably the people that don’t need them to know what’s happening in a conversation y’know????
Oh also James is in the right fuck twitter lmao
i just use indicators sometimes when either i'm not clear or i know how stupid the people i'm dealing with are

@@burcopresents yes, I know that and I forgive him. But just that he made that joke in the forgive place doesn't sit right with me
So the /j and other have a meaning behind them? I thought that people would use them in case someone didn't understand if something is a joke or serious etc.
I really like tone indicators tbh cause I have a huge problem with interpreting tone in text. It's nice for me to know for sure if someone is joking so I don't panic about what they say. Without those indications there's a good chance that I'll read the text wrong
I am considered neurodivergent, James' joke isn't that bad lol
What does neurodivergent even mean? I’ve only heard the term on Twitter and whenever I ask about it I just get called “ignorant” or “ableist”
