I have a 1999 Forman 400 and it has been a great machine. I don’t ride it as much as I used to but I starts every time and I have used it for all sorts of activities. Trail riding, hauling a ton of fire wood out of the woods , snow plowing. It does sit low but I like the how the center of gravity is on this bike compared to a newer Forman. Mine goes about 45-50 MPH
These bikes are tough as nails. Ours we use for controlled burns and it’s caught fire and still runs and it starts super fast with 4900 miles. it’s a 99 400 foot shift. Go Honda!
I have this exact same bike in almost identical condition, 96. Just had it serviced, $1400 all kinds of seals, the steering gear, bushing and column rebuild, carb rebuild and tie rod ends. All original and its been ran hard and sat in the rain for nearly 30 years. Pretty impressive it had never needed more than an oil change before that. If it weren't for the carb running rich and gassing up the oil I would have kept driving it that way too.
I also have a 96 just like this one just got a new set of wheels and Kendra bear claws tires love mine had to clean the carb real good due to trash in it now runs like a top
Thats awsome, i'll be purchasing my first foreman on tuesday, its an 01' 450. With the digital tach. i'm pretty stoked. We've been looking for a work quad for hauling stuff around for the winter season thats vastly approaching. Nice video also!
Theses machines are built like tanks, they go anywhere, you can slide them over logs, rocks, mud, snow. I would avoid big mudholes but its such a small machine that you will find a path around the mud..heehee I love these machines!
@@zedzero77 yep we got a fan installed for that. And got it modded to switch off front wheel drive. It still runs after 25 years of total abuse. Best quality i love that thing
Yeah these foreman’s aren’t really speedy machines they were always in my opinion built for mudding, and pulling heavy things but they’re ok with speed if you ever need it
My grandfather owned a 01 400, it was just passed down to me. It's been worked pretty good but still runs beautifully. Do you know anywhere to get parts for them? I would like to fix it up with my son.
These Honda’s are still very easy to buy parts for. You can buy from any of the oem online stores, I use partzilla a lot. Or you can find much cheaper aftermarket parts for these on eBay.
Was that a vt plate on the woods truck? I live in vt I have the exact same four wheeler as I grew up In the 90s these year model Honda’s to me are the best for sure a small low machine but a true work horse and will stand the test of time unlike some American brands …. Nice vid she runs good cheerz!
Any bikes a trail bike if you ask me. I did buy my 1st bike with power steering I do enjoy that but been riding for 30 years without power steering so I could of lived without it. But it is nice.
Yes I agree I’ve drove plenty of machines with no rear suspension at all so this is a Cadillac compared to them. Once you get used to the plush suspension and the power steering you definitely notice when a machine doesn’t have it.
agreed. they started making them with water cooled engines. which i think was a dumb move. i think it makes em less reliable. plus, all the ones that last forever were air cooled.
yep. i have an 84 trx 200 and a 02 honda rancher electric shift. the engine on the rancher runs like gold. but since it's an electric shift and 20 years old, it wouldn't shift. and they have this little access shaft so you can shift it when it won't shift. so i just made a stick shift for it. and so far, the only thing i did to the trx 200 is clean the air filter, change the oil, and put a new tire on it.

I have always wanted a Forman. Those were the simple and easy to work on days.
If you apply a very light amount of pressure to the front brakes, that fourth wheel will lock up and pull.

You will be very happy with the 450, they are great work machines!
@@rockspowersports Thats awsome, i appreciate your video on it. Not many peeps out there covering it. have a good one!

also, mine does 46mph but will overheat at that speed since the winch was installed.

Where to buy, and now much it cost?
Great video - love my 98!
Thanks, they are very solid work horses!

my 1997 foreman with the speedo tops out at 46 mph. you can really see the rough ride in your vid too, only 4.3'' of travel all-around.
They’re great work machines, they do have a rough ride on the trails..

Yes that is a Vermont plate. I live in northeast Vermont. They are real nice machines for sure.
Nice to meet a fellow vter on the tube, subbed ! Big howdy from lake rd in Milton/Georgia vt !
How can I find what machines you have for sale?
Unfortunately I’m not a dealer and only sell a few a year. I don’t have anything ready right now.
@@rockspowersports do you advertise it on FB marketplace when you do sell?
Yes on marketplace and Craigslist
I have a 95 foreman 400 I just sunk it 2 days ago and did an oil change and now it burns oil kinda sucks but is still a good quad
Water is never great in the engine but I’m sure she’ll still run along time like that

Looks like your arms are getting a great work out ! Ouch .

No I don’t just sportsman 500
my boss owned one of these. the piece of shit would not die.

not a 96 it's a 99 or 00
The machine was definitely a 1996, the stickers might look different because I bought replacement decals.
@@rockspowersports is the sticker still on the front of the frame ?
you can ride the piss out of these machines for years without any problems.
