    It is very sturdy, its been separated in a bin for 5 years and the towers are still together with minimal destruction.

    Now this is an impressive set! Great display piece. That king minifig is way cool. Definitely agree with you on his throne, or rather lack of one though. I think they could have made a slightly larger throne room by switching locations with the jail. Like putting them in the prison tower kind of thing. LOL. Aside from that I think its flawless. Wish they would bring some more of these types of sets/themes back. Nice review Tie!

    I watched on Wednesday, but forgot to pull it up on the computer to like/comment until now. Cool old castle set. I could see if you doubled up that set, that you could make a pretty cool larger set for sure.
    I don't have anything significant from the Castle theme. I did score a few little sets last year which are just about complete now, but no big castles. I just checked Brickset to see what I have...Axe Cart (4806), Bat Lord (6007), King's Carriage Ambush (7188), Prison Carriage Rescue (7949)...those 4 all came in the same insane tub I got last year with over 30 sets...the first two are complete, the second two need need 1 or 2 pieces still. Separately, I got a sealed Santis (8785) which I didn't think of as being part of the Castle theme. So at least I have a few little sets from the theme.
    Unrelated (haha)...
    I stayed up late last night messing with some LEGO stuff. The last thing I did was build my General Grievous big fig and he's a little cooler than I expected. I had never gotten into the buildable figs, but I've got a few super cheap in thrift stores hauls. He came in a bag with a few others that were mostly complete, which I've since completed.. I got his last pieces in a recently bricklink order and decided to build him to make sure I did indeed have all the parts. Just before the pandemic, I had gotten the last of what I needed for the Captain Phasma I got at the same time I got Grievous and that one is really cool. A couple months ago I got a second Phasma for next to nothing...I just need a cape for that one, then I'll probably gift it to my brother at some point. The only other buildable fig I've built was that Trooper on the Speeder BIke I got from a thrift store for $2.99 a couple years ago. I know the buildable figures don't get a lot of love, but the three I've built so far have been pretty great. Though I realize the ones I've built are probably among the cooler ones. The ones I have but haven't built yet are the Elite TIE Fighter and Scarif Stormtrooper which might fall into the good category...then Finn and Chirrut Îmwe which are likely not great.
    I didn't intend to talk so much about buildable figures haha.
    Are you going to do a live stream tomorrow? I still need to try and catch you live. I managed to catch Coconut Bricks live a week or so ago and it was fun.

    • @TieTheLegoGuy
      @TieTheLegoGuy  4 года назад

      The castle theme is really good, I'd highly recommend getting into it. Thats good you have some of the sets though, i actually got some of those haha.
      Oooooo the Grievous is by far the best buildable figure and is actually kinda pricey to get. (One of the few buildable figures thats appreciated lol) i like the buildable figures that have masks or are droids personally. Great score btw 👌
      Oh yeah i'll be on tomorrow, hope you can join, there actually pretty great

      @@TieTheLegoGuy I had said I didn't have any large castles. I grabbed a large thrift store bag that I never really went through that I got last year. Turns out it has most of the castle build for 70404 King's Castle (2013 - Not as old). Unfortunately no minifigs (except 1 torso) or side build. I inventoried it and looks like even without going through my own parts collection, it's less than $100 worth of missing parts/figures which I'll be able to get down some. The figures are probably $30-35 to get. I'm pretty sure I have a spare of the horse, but not his fancy armor which is at least $10. Probably the best I can hope, is to get it down to about $60-70 to complete, which isn't an epic deal, but still not bad at all for that set. I do like the look of it with the blue accents. One more thing for me to work on. Oh, and thankfully it has most of the stickered pieces with stickers applied well....I always appreciate that.
      In that bag was also most of the build for 75093 Death Star Final Duel (2015), unfortunately no minifigs. I still need to go through the inventory, which I'll probably do this evening. I don't own that set, so might be worth completing.
      It also has most of the build for 75138 Hoth Attack (2016). I already have that set, so might not seek to complete it if the minifigs make it not worth it. If I do complete it, it'd probably be a gift for a brother. If I don't, then I can add it to my existing set to make it bigger (I have a ton of Hoth sets, most of which I haven't built yet).
      Lastly, it had what appears to be a complete Rey's Speeder (again no figures). I already have that set as well. I would say if it's worth getting the minifigs, I'll give it to a family member as a gift.
      I don't remember exactly the price, but it's usually the size of a bag they sell for $8.99 at that store, so definitely a score overall. Just wish it had at least some of the minifigs haha. I'm pretty stoked for the Castle and Death Star Duel sets that I didn't own. I'm thinking to cost to complete them will still be a significant deal. The other two small Star Wars sets are a nice little bonus, but nothing too special.
      Anyway, had to report back. I can almost picture your reaction...("Of course you actually had a nearly complete castle and didn't even realize it") haha.

    I have this set and remember building this on Christmas. I was almost 7 years old and am working on rebuilding it. Not many people have reviews of this set, at least not a recent one, so that’s how I found you. One thing I would say to improve on is working on not stuttering on words other than that an excellent video on an excellent set. Also I would love an updated version of this. I guess there’s that creator castle with the black falcons but I really loved this set as a kid

  • @robonaught

    Interestingly this castle looks like an updated version of the 80s Crusaders castle set 6080 of the same name. This could mean the Kingdoms Lions are the Crusaders but just a more future generation version of them after a few years.
    I believe they sometimes had spikes on the head parts of horse armor in medieval times. They did something similar with the old 90s horse armor head pieces used in Dragon Masters, Fright Knights and Knights Kingdom 1. The helmets had a clip on part instead of a hole. In KK1 the horses used by the Bulls had this helmet with the same bull horn piece used on the Islander minifigs attached to the helmet.

    • @TieTheLegoGuy
      @TieTheLegoGuy  4 года назад

      I can totally see that, has very much a crusader vibe to them.
      Hmm they did do some interesting things in the middle ages, the spike makes some sense. Just can't get the unicorn image out of my head lol. Thanks for the info Robonaught, always appreciate your input

    The castle and pirates and non-licenced space themes are like a big miss-high-five for me since they are my favourite themes along with town/city but I was only old enough to pick up the 2013 castle theme, galaxy squad and the 2015 pirates theme. I have a singular set from each (gatehouse raid and some insect vehicle) except I have 3 pirates sets (the fort and it’s extension and the pirate skull island) which is unfortunate since I only experienced the twilight years of them which were far from their prime in the late 80s and early to mid 90s and the mini golden age in the later 2000s and very early 2010s.

    • @TieTheLegoGuy
      @TieTheLegoGuy  3 года назад

      Those are still good themes, but I hear ya, I never got a chance to pick up pirates in the late 80s early 90s and those sets sell for so much nowadays. Makes you wish you were older in a way lol

      @strangehermitman7898 3 года назад

      Yeah, pirates and castle were pretty good and I did enjoy galaxy squad. However, I do prefer kingdoms and fantasy castle. Fantasy had better concepts but kingdoms was far more polished. I mean compare the portcullis of this one to the primitive one of 2007, it reminds me of a thing they would do with the knights kingdom 2 and its robotic horses and play-dough coloured knights.

    I bought this set last week second hand. Paid 100€ for it, which is probably OK, but I am a bit disappointed by it anyway. It lacks detail, the drawbridge system is pretty terrible, three catapults is overkill, the big tower is way too open. I added transparant bricks in the top floor to close it off more. It is modular, but it really never works, except for the standard configuration. The minifigs aren't that great, with only one horse. I would rate this castle 6/10. From the same year, I like the Dragon Knight's castle with the princess better.

      @@TieTheLegoGuy I like them better too, but I still prefer the newest two. In the 90ies we also had a few big misses, like the Dragon Knight's Castle with the black dragon head and the very sparse Witches Mansion in the Fright Knight series.
