I got my first Lee Loader in 1970 in 20 gauge. Dad said he could not afford to keep me in shot shells. I have them for all my military rounds from 30-40 up. Pure, simple and quite satisfying. I cant carry my Lee Turret press along with me to the field, so I have always been quite pleased with the old school. Thank you Sir for another great video!
I really enjoy your videos. I bought my first lee in 1971. I bought a ruger super blackhawk 44 and quickly realized i could quickly blow my yard mowing budget on factory ammo
You sold me on pine tar, and Lee loaders. Hell I even dusted off my old Swiss Army knife and carry it everywhere. My hats off to you sir. Please keep up the wonderful work and be blessed. And my first Lee loader was a eBay set, I wanted the 6.5x55. And got six others that I can use.
I first discovered your channel by happening upon your video reloading with the classic Lee Loader 45-70 on the stump. Glad I did. I own a few Lee Loaders now. So thanks for the tip.
I just checked back, that video has 96,000 views now. Not bad for one of those "why not turn the camera on" videos. At the time I was surprised by the number of people who had never heard of the Classic Lee Loader.
I love the Lee Loaders, i just got in to reloading my Mosin, and i can bang out 40 if keeping pace 20 to 30 minutes maybe less, but it is relaxing and fun!!!,
In many cases the Lee Loaded, properly used will out shoot most handloads/reloads & the vast majority of factory. Consistency in all components is the key.
Great tip on starting off the cast bullets. I pretty much exclusively use the scoops. I find myself gravitating towards powders that work well in them. I had a digital scale the got some grains stuck under the weighing tray, and it ruined the scale. I picked up one of those old lee safety scales, and only use that now when I need a scale.
I pretty much reply on the scoops myself, its the measurement I write down on the cartridge box, I just keep the conversion to grains on hand so I can refer to it if somebody asks. Those measure kits, and the Lee Loaders will always have a purpose.
When you started by saying "Today, I am working old school" it made me giggle. You are as old school as they get :-D Thanks for uploading these vids. I like to start your videos just to listen to whatever you chat about while I get on with my own day :-D
I just got back into reloading bought a Lee Classic 4 turret press been loading 9mm it's satisfying and relaxing to got some 45acp dies planning on loading up some of those as well nothing like bringing them back to life knowing that you did that
Peoples first thought on seeing them is that it would be slow, but in reality after you catch on you can do one in around a minute without hurrying, and it is relaxing to do.
Exactly. I have a Dillon 500. But I would rather use the Lee while sitting outside under a tree. I have the Lee in the .223 and am going to get the 30-30, .357. Once you get a groove going its plenty fast.
@@logcabinlooms im torn between a 357 45 lc die set or the classic loader but 2 things hold me back on classic is do they function in 1873 rifle and do they crimp good? i dont wanna blow nothing up 😅
I couldn't find a Lee Classic set for 300 Savage, so I would up getting the Lee Hand Press and dies. This set up is great. Perhaps even better than the Classic and still totally portable. I do have the Classic set for 30 30 though.
First reloading I ever did was with a Lee Loader for a 94' .30-30 back in the early 80's. I still only use a Lee hand press for all others. I had a box of Argentine Mauser and don't know where it came from. But anyway, I got a 95' in .30-40 and have been using .303 brass which I've never had problems with, and might get a Lee Loader for it too.
Hard to say as I've never tried it. I'd imagine it would be bad enough to make it unfun to shoot, but should still be good enough for minute of man out to 200.
I use the Lee Classic Loader for reloading hard cast in 45-70. Takes almost the same time as running through a press except that I weigh each and every charge, (just kind of OCD that way). Haven't seen you shooting your cowboy lately unless I have just been missing it. Any ways, my best regards to, Judge Bean
I did use the Cowboy on some long range shooting a few videos back. I will have it out for that again, but it takes a nice calm day for that, and they are rare in spring.
Mike Cole I have never used the shotgun ones myself, but I know several people on RUclips have them so I think there are videos on them. If I remember right I think 314299 has a video someplace, you could search his channel.
I have been attempting reloads for my 35 wsl,. I took apart 2 Peters cartridges and would like to find some one who would know what powder was used by a picture. I guess I can not attach a pic here. The powder is flat, round with a pin hole in the center.
I bought some trail Boss, but it is a lot lighter powder. They both look the same but the powder in the Peters shell was 10.5 GN. The Trail Boss I can only get 4.8 GN in the case. I am using 223 cases cut down. They seem to work well in the 35wsl rifles. I enjoy your videos...much the same as here with wood cutting etc. I am in New Richmond Quebec which is on the Gaspe Peninsula .
Been wanting to reload for a long time, but powder availability has prevented me from doing so. The press will be the Dillon 500. My plans are to only do handguns (.357 Magnum .45 ACP and 10mm) and not rifles, but watching you do this intrigued me. This looks like a great way to cut the cost of shooting .308. I totally missed seeing you place the new primer in tho. Do you ever trim the cases when you load this way?
Eventually you have to trim the case, but you can go for a very long time. If you use one of the little tools to clean up the mouth you can stay ahead of the stretch. One nice thing with these is the brass lasts a long time because they only work the neck of the case.
It is the Argentine Mauser in 7.65 caliber? I did not know existed Lee Loader for that caliber. I subscribe to your channel because I like what you do. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
logcabinlooms I Understand! I have several calibers but not Argentin 7.65. I ask you for curiosity. I have 3 Lee Loaders Kits; one for .44 mg, one for 30.06 Springfild and one for 45.70 as the one you've got. Just now I am doing some loads for my 1895 Marlin. Next weekend I will go to hunt boar and must be well prepared. If you like, you can watch my videos big boars hunt . Sorry for my bad english. Best regards .
logcabinlooms Ssshhh! Don't tell him. I'm still hoping one in 6.5x54 ms pops up, there. Been waiting years. btw, love your cavalry mannlicher. Do you use a faster powder for the carbine barrel?
pnwoods That's the faster burning load I am working with. I was using 4064, which works fine, but makes a big fireball, a faster burn rate powder cut that down.
logcabinlooms wow! Sure wish I could visit some day. I’m in Appalachia mountains in Virginia but you can’t go far enough back in the woods for me. I love your place.
Calvary, the Engineers carbine was also the same, except it has sling mounts. The Calvary Carbine simply has a bar on the stock to attach a clip on harness so you don't drop it when on horse back.
I always enjoy watching your videos. I seem to learn something new every time. Thank you .

Love that truck. Awesome video.
Looks like a 3/4 ton military truck. DAMN near indestructible.

Reloading. An excellent rifle. What a day.
I started reloading with Lee hand loader 44mag several years ago.

Yep. I just got into the 6.5 Carcano game recently. Brass and .268 bullets are scarce. Durn the luck.

check ebay for vintage ones.
Hi sir I have been using the Lee Classic reloader in 9mm and .44Mag

Right on Thank You
This is awesome
Do you think an arbor press would be a worthwhile upgrade? No noise. No vibration . What are your thoughts?
I'd love to find an old Lee Loader for a 12 GA. Would be handy in the field.
I don't think they make them new, but several are for sale on eBay at the moment.
logcabinlooms Thanks for your suggestion. I'm going to buy one. Have you had any experience with the 12 GA loaders?

Look up a web site "Lane Reloaders"...he makes Lee style for 410 to 10 ga.....and all in between. $65 about....they work well....
gman77gas The best way to find these Loaders cheap is to post WTB adds on shooting/gun forums. Ebay is the easiest if you don't mind paying up,

Certainly sounds like Trail Boss, I am not aware of other powders in that shape, but there may well be.

I accidentally moved my die from its original locked position and I don't know what to do. How to I make sure it is set to the right sizing?
