      David Cadman I am now 64, and to answer all 4 of these comments let me just say that I can remember practically everything that happened the day some girl got her hands on the first Beatles album and they played it all day at the country club. I got my first telescope at the age of about 10, that’s 1966, a 3 inch that opened up vistas for me for the rest of my life! I could never have have saved up for it, too many other distractions like buying comic books and Beatles albums. Because of the timing of my birth I was too young to experience the Free Love hippie times and thankfully just miss the Vietnam war draft. By the way, my mom made my little brother and I get a hair cut when she found out the Beatles were coming to America because, as see said, we will not have any long hair kids in this house. So even though I had to live my younger days without much hair or sex, I got to keep my telescope and my Life and yes now I can rock until I die!

    • @stephenl9381
      @stephenl9381 4 года назад +3

      David Cadman Hey David and your other commenters, I neglected to mention that I’m Steve using my wife’s U-Tube account. Otherwise, with a name like Denise I wouldn’t have to have worried.about the draft. On another note, telescopes were crazy expensive. My late uncle Steve Denton, after his first look through a telescope had to have a bigger one ASAP. Not having much money, he learned how to grind his own. Never being allowed within 10 feet of it I would have to guess it was 4-6 inch refractor. His passion led him to having an unpaid internship with NASA when he was a teenager, having his college tuition paid for by NASA, being hired by them and working in Huntsville Alabama for the remainder of his career. When I was a young teenager probably 13-15, my mother told me that Steve had already worked out the Mars mission, mining the asteroids, etc. He went on to do many other projects, many I am sure were classified. President Reagan pressed him into finding out what brought down Challenger and shortly afterwards he retired. Shows you younger people what a peek through an eyepiece can lead to. My comments are long I know, but ask me sometime my Challenger story. It shocked my uncle and you too probably!

      The scope near the end of your video looks like a 6” (or possibly an 8”-hard to tell from an iPhone screen) Newtonian Reflector on an Equatorial Mount with a clock drive. Your equipment list states a 10” reflector in a Dobsonian Mount. I like Dobsonians for their bang for a buck advantage as they’re much less expensive than a quality equatorial. My question is how do you do any sort of time lapse astrophotography of more than 20 to 30 seconds with a Dobsonian. They can’t smoothly an precisely track as the Equatorial Mount can...unless something has changed in the last 15-20 years.

    Muito bom, me recordei das noites(ouvindo geralmente Tears for Fears) em que ficava com um simples telescópio refrator de 60mm fazendo observações e tentando tirar a melhor foto possível. Em uma noite fiquei emocionado ao observar o breve(2 segundos) surgimento e desaparecimento de uma estrela em um dos aglomerados nas proximidades da constelação de Escorpião. Ainda vou adquirir ou construir meu refletor D200F800 o que melhora muito a qualidade das observações proporcionalmente à emoção.
    Very good, I remembered the nights (usually listening to Tears for Fears) when I stayed with a simple 60mm refractor telescope making observations and trying to take the best possible photo. One night I was thrilled to observe the brief (2 seconds) appearance and disappearance of a star in one of the clusters near the constellation of Scorpio. I will still purchase or build my D200F800 reflector which greatly improves the quality of the observations in proportion to the emotion.

    Here it is 9/28/21 and I was getting my car out before the sun was up and I saw the Orion Belt - very interesting star formation - I've been fascinated with it since I was a little girl. You can see it in the fall and winter here in Indiana and it is spectacular on a cold, clear night.

      I am a flat earther, but I'm a follower of Christ and that supercedes anything else. My belief in cosmology is miniscule to my concerns about your soul. If you are a saved Christian, I don't mind talking on a subject that isn't salvational I just don't care for it to divide us. We can observe and appreciate this beautiful view of the stars whether you think they're light-years away or very close (relatively of course), what drives me bonkers is how someone can't believe in God after looking at the stars.

It reminded me of one of those blurry shaky bigfoot videos. I was half expecting to see a blob squatch run across the screen, but after the 2 minute mark, simply amazing! Very beautiful!
