My son tried to kill himself at 9. We finally got a "mood disorder" diagnosis (aka bipolar). Thank you for sharing.

muta rabbit Same! Im 40 now, its beautifully terrifying. Meds and reiki. Never goes away but plz try to manage. Hellish, but try to gain from the beauty from the deep insight. In other cultures we are shamans and philosophers. Please be weary of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- wrote by the government in the 50's. Bullshit. Find your tribe my friend and thrive! Im with you! We are out here looking for each other! Share your feelings and story. If you never left this post I would never know Im not alone. .🌸

tbh- bipolar isn’t just mood swings. it’s so many complicated emotions.

My son was recently diagnosed w childhood onset bipolar. However he’s being tested for autism too and already diagnosed as ODD. The jury is out. 🤷‍♀️ He’s 6.

Diagnosis should include the proximal cause of the illness, not just a collection of symptoms and behaviors.

If a 6 year old says she wants to kill her brother and will not do what you tell her to do. Will grab her baby brother by the hair slush him down and lies like it's nothing like breathing for us. Ppl have said that they have tried to love her but can't talks about hurting other kids younger then her. Could this be bypolar

A lot of kids are misdiagnosed with bipolar because the symptoms in adults are different than in children.
Bipolar doesn't fluctuate day by day or hour by hour. Bipolar is a set of manic symptoms that last 4 to 7 days or longer followed by a "crash" or low point that can last days or months.
To me, this kid doesn't seem bipolar. The consistent mood swings seem to represent borderline personality disorder. He could also have major depression.
This video is old though and so much more information has been discovered about mental and mood disorder.
