Nice! I love the air bags on my truck for hauling my truck camper. Don't know if yer instruction said to, but I leave about 5-10 psi in mine minimum to prevent bag pinching. Mine are Firestone brand and that was in their instructions. Also said not to jack the vehicle up by the frame with air bags installed. Always lift by the axles. Reason was if you lift by the frame, the axle and wheel weight will be hanging off the air bags and brackets and can damage them. Not sure this is the case with all installs, but better safe then sorry. Just have to remember each time to tell the service mechanic each time the van goes in for work. I usually tape a note to the steering wheel to remind them, to avoid Murphy's Law. And if the bags are to bouncy, you could try taller blocks on your over load springs (the stock blocks can be seen at 10:17 of the vid, at the end of the overload leaf). These are them.....www.etrailer.com/Vehicle-Suspension/TorkLift/TLA7311.html Probably easy enough to pop on and off for when you don't need them. Many slide in truck camper folks use them instead of getting whole new spring packs built. If you do upgrade you shocks at some point, avoid Rancho air shocks. I currently have them on my truck. One the third set on front and rear. They do come with life time warranty, which is good. But they don't last and you keep having to pay out for removal and install of the replacements. The 9000xl's are great when new as they are adjustable. But then the adjust knob breaks and they are hooped. Or the seals fail. Or......I've had it suggested that they may fail due to overheating on bumpy dirt roads. As they are air not oil, the air heats up and kills the seals, where as oil shocks run cooler b/c of the oil keeping the temp down and not cooking the seal. Was a theory from my mechanic, but one that made sense. Anyway, again, just passing on first hand experience in case it'll save you headache and $$$. Best wishes!!
Love those airbags, had them on 3 trucks, 2 to improve ride, my Tundra now to level with cap and tools loaded up, rides great. You will be very happy, ask them to send correct brackets for safety
i don't know how you guys are so effective working on your van out the streets! great job with the air bags. if you guys are ever in colorado, and you need a place to work on the van, hit me up. also the mtbing is pretty good here too.
try contacting sulastic rubber spring to find out if they sell sulastic shackle for transit. i think it will help u obsorb most of the rear axle vibration. better ride
Nice work!! I did that on my old truck before but i only Tee the supply airline for both bags so they have the same pressure all the time and only one pump port. just a suggestion...Good luck for more adventures!!!
Our van on the right side has more weight so we put more pressure. We thought about install one airline but in the end, having 2 airlines was a better decision for us. Thank you Ted!
compressor under van sometimes condensate and freeze in winter i think. its better if u buy a good quality portable compressor(for tires) and keep it in ur van.
You'll probably realize that over a short period of time, the rubber will deteriorate and no longer hold air. Temperature fluctuations will also change the air pressure. So hopefully you kept those original parts as an emergency backup in case of failure. In the long term, adding an additional leaf to your leaf spring array would be the best solution. While you were in SoCal, you could have gotten it done quite inexpensively.
@@MyNameIsNotEmail.ItsEmail Yes, OEM materials are better quality than aftermarket. Have you bought any aftermarket auot parts lately? Finding good rubber anything is next to impossible. Much of it is junk in a year.

I am not a mechanic but you might want to double check those are the proper mounting brackets. Those square edges look like they could wear a hole through your differential housing. This could be catastrophic damage not covered by warranty.
@@rjeezy.5746 Why is that (not saying you are wrong, I don't know much about this, genuinely curious)? I would think metal on metal where parts are in motion/vibrating would cause wear over time.
@@hobmarg Axle tubes are generally 1/8" or so and made of stronger steel then the brackets. So the brackets would wear way before anything happened to the axle tube IF the brackets were left loose enough to move at all. The only twisting motion that would cause any movement between the two would be from hard acceleration which would be what "axle wrap" describes...Doubt a ford transit has enough power to cause any significant axle wrap and to overcome the friction the two "faces" of steel are creating. Nice work, should help a little with body role too. Did those valves come with caps? I'd be putting on some cheap mudflaps as well, it's crazy the money you spend on vehicles and they don't include mudflaps or wheel well liners as a standard and consider them options, just like my f150. Safe travels, thanks for sharing.
Yes it came with caps! Our van have a lot of option accessories but mudflaps... it'd be nice to have! Yeah we are spending a lot of money on our van...at least we don't have a house so I guess it's okay?
I thought this was going to be about installing airbags (for collisions) on your bikes! I was wondering how that was going to work out....you're next project.
I know it's just an assister device, but I didn't like the square bracket against your round axle tube. Later on you should get someone to weld something round in there for you.
Take a look at the Ford Transit Forum here: www.fordtransitusaforum.com/wheels-tires-brakes-suspension/67217-list-tire-sizes-fit-transit.html There is discussion of the largest tires you can fit without rubbing in the wheel wells. Taller tires will give you more ride height.

Very interesting! I never would have thought something was needed for a van but it totally makes sense! Great job!

Nice camera work Yuka!
I cannot believe you guys did that on a dead end road out in the desert!! So badass!
Thank you dave beauchamp! Still we were kinda told to leave by a security guy. We thought nobody is bothered there...
These videos are great. Love your sense of humor.
Wow, very good setting up the van, i learned something new haha
I'm glad if you could learn something from my video! Thanks to Eric 😁
Need to connect this to an electric pump with a gauge and control in your cockpit. Great DIY vid.

Not true. Every commercial truck on the road in the US uses airbag suspension and there's absolutely no issue.

They are bumpers Eric and they boost the height a bit but air suspension is much better
Will these air bags lift the van higher than stock unweighted height? Or does it just bring a heavily loaded van back to stock height?
