Dawn FM is The Weeknd's older self essentially warning his younger self to slow down with the fame and everything that comes with is (the rush). Absolutely incredible to see his growth over the years. This album is the perfect follow up to After Hours and the best way to start the year, another great review from the boys🌅
The concept of this album reminded me a lot of Queens of the Stone Age- Songs for the Deaf, with all the songs being set on the radio. But this album went much deeper in message and philosophy.
This album felt like riding a car through space as your radio turns into the ghost of the weeknd singing to you in the passenger seat as your adventure continues
I said this in another comment but this album was such an amazing listen all the way through. May favorite song is definitely out of time. Really disappointed me on first listen, but I really like it after a few more listens. I’ve had Sacrifice on loop all day, it’s really the only thing keeping me happy today 😂
I see the fact that he's old on the cover as an indication of 2 things 1. How much he has suffered in his life, noted in all of his previous records, resulting in accelerated tiredness and destruction of his body and mind 2. He has come to die (this was referenced all over his work and after hours, but mostly in until I bleed out). Abel has said in an interview that this is supposed to be a purgatory state and the radio is the background. I'm sure he will keep experimenting with his sound, and I was amazed at the direction that he took. He takes every genre to the next level. I'm the happiest fan in the world!
To add to what you are saying..I can take the "Radio Reference" similiar to what they did with MJ the day he passed away..they literally played all his hits on Radios for a week straight..TheWeeknd seems to realized that onces he dies they gonna play all his songs on the Radio to remember him..which is kinda sad if you ask me

This my first time actually listening to the weekends project. I will said this good album. The only reason I listen to this project because I want to step out of my comfort zone.
It was a dope play through the first time, I already love Gasoline, How do I make you love me, Don’t break my heart! 🔥🔥🔥 so just having those lets me know when I listen to it all the way thru again, it’s gonna be dope prolly💯💯
Dawn FM is a collection of love poems from Old Age Abel to a Female Caretaker in the Old Age Home. Firstly this album is a fucking masterpiece!!! Secondly I’ve realized that the whole concept of the project is a relationship between old abel and a female presences who seems to be a caretaker
Yes!!! It's him essentially warning his younger self to slow down with the fame and everything that comes with is (the rush). Also admitting regrets and telling his younger self to do better. Jumping back, older self is stuck in Purgatory and he has to review all his mistakes. It's phenomenal when you know how it pieces together.
@@shakaj1525 Bro just look at the track list. Gasoline gave it away from me. It’s clearly about an old drugged up man in an old age home presumably with a budding relationship with someone else. Then we get HOW DO I MAKE YOU LOVE ME, SACRIFICES, OUT OF TIME. Bro the titles are telling a story of its own. In BEST FRIENDS the caretaker says she’ll agree to have sex with old abel but he better not catch feelings which he already has. Abel then asks Is There Someone Else as he feels the relationship is fading. He then pleads with her Don’t Break My Heart. Then Abel’s finds out in Heard You’re Married that there is someone else and he says he hates that he has to share her. Then He concludes that he knows he’ll never be enough for her in Less Than Zero This album is a musical journey😭😭
Literally the only track I wasn't a fan of was the second track but HOLY SHIT this just goes to show Abel's ability to push boundaries cannot go unnoticed.
Genuinely think Tory Lanez did a great job on his latest project for hitting that 80’s sound as well. Was surprisingly a great listen and worth a listen boys
you music reviewers have influence over your listeners. y’all gotta start giving the weeknd his flowers as one of the greatest and most talented artists to ever walk this planet along with having basically a perfect catelog in comparison to some of the other best catelogs ever. i’m every aspect of music making you can be good at. the weeknd is not only phenomenal but leagues and bounds ahead of almost every artist and the only artists that do certain things better lack in other things that the weeknd happens to be phenomenal at. consistency great at every. writing on the level as some of the best hophop writers ever with one of the best and most distinguishable voices in the industry
i say this because not enough people are acknowledging how this dude is basically undistputedly on the mount rushmore of music in general all genres. and if anyone wants to argue i promise the weeknd can clear anyone when you talk about EVERYTHING they bring to the table. even people like kanye mj and prince
My biggest complaint is didn’t find any huge hits that The Weeknd usually has on his albums (Blinding Lights, The Hills etc.). I wonder if I’m just missing something.
The album is my favorite Weeeknd album of all time and I've been listening to The Weeknd since he was still "Drake's Friend" (who made half of Drake's Take Care album) and he was just being covered by the blogs when they were still relevant. Anyone remember 2 Dope Boys? Anyone remember what Tyler said to 2 Dope Boys? (and all the other blogs at the time). Anyways I liked House of Balloons and I've enjoyed many of the albums at the time of release since the trilogy. After Hours is the album that was most visceral to me in a long time with it's atmosphere and bizarre Fear & Loathing story and visuals. So with this album I didn't think Abel would top himself but he did. I feel like this is the best album of 2K22 already in the way that when DONDA dropped it immediately became my favorite album of 2K21 (and life) but JC. How do you make heaven? I like the You gotta BE Heaven to SEE Heaven or whatever. I think he likely drew a lot of inspiration from 80s and movie endings especially Disney movie and roller coaster ride song endings. There are little bits of Disney all over this album but it's got so many influences from DAFT PUNK to OneohetrixPointNever to as if Michael Jackson grew up and wasn't messed up with little kids but had matured passed that of a grade schooler and made some other choices that led him down a hard road in fame and solitude yet this album feels THE MOST HUMAN and also the most BLISSFUL to me. I think people will either have it click with them or not and for me this was like a Dark Side of the Moon type experience that is very rare in the way it enters my head and makes me feel like I just got lit without taking drugs. I felt like I was rolling in love on this album and it's amazing. I went in with LOW expectations and came out with my head lit up and my hair blown back from the shock of how much this album got me floated.

Everyone has their own opinions , but for me this is better than after hours , I don’t wanna comeback to AH anytime soon
Damn, seeing this comments makes me feel bad...been a fan even before Trilogy was Trilogy but for me this ain't it. Only song I enjoy is "Is there someone else?". This is not the one (for me).
Is gasoline a reference to 80s bands like Depeche Mode, New Order etc
Def sounds similar. Dope asf since I grew up with those bands because of my parents
Can you guys do ranking for The Weeknd's albums
We’re due for a deep dive into his catalog!
@@NFRPodcast Good Luck with the Trilogy
hey you guys should add your favourite songs at the end of the album review it would be nice to see which songs you vibe to and why
Yes 🙌
NFR fans be waitin for this one
Thanks for being here Snoop
Do you guys have a public playlist so the fans can listen to what yall are listening to? Would be pretty cool, like a Nfr spotify account for playlist and songs
Here we go again -> best friends -> is there someone else is one of the greatest sequences in an album I’ve ever heard
Shit you can even throw Starry Eyed in there
Ayyy you guys used to bump Swedish House Mafia! I feel related to lol
I really enjoyed your review guys.
second half of this album really hit on first listen 🔥🔥🔥
This my first time actually listening to the weekends project. I will said this good album. The only reason I listen to this project because I want to step out of my comfort zone.
You guys are amazing
It was a dope play through the first time, I already love Gasoline, How do I make you love me, Don’t break my heart! 🔥🔥🔥 so just having those lets me know when I listen to it all the way thru again, it’s gonna be dope prolly💯💯
Dawn FM is a collection of love poems from Old Age Abel to a Female Caretaker in the Old Age Home.
Firstly this album is a fucking masterpiece!!!
Secondly I’ve realized that the whole concept of the project is a relationship between old abel and a female presences who seems to be a caretaker
Wow interesting perspective might be on point
Then He concludes that he knows he’ll never be enough for her in Less Than Zero
This album is a musical journey😭😭
Literally the only track I wasn't a fan of was the second track but HOLY SHIT this just goes to show Abel's ability to push boundaries cannot go unnoticed.
It grew on me quickly, give it a shot!
He doesn't miss this was beautiful
patiently waiting on the gunna review
I listen to it twice it gotten better I love this
Honestly never been the biggest weeknd fan but I think this is my favorite out of everything. Probably an unpopular opinion.
Genuinely think Tory Lanez did a great job on his latest project for hitting that 80’s sound as well. Was surprisingly a great listen and worth a listen boys
lived up to the hype it got, dawn fm is a 10/10
you music reviewers have influence over your listeners. y’all gotta start giving the weeknd his flowers as one of the greatest and most talented artists to ever walk this planet along with having basically a perfect catelog in comparison to some of the other best catelogs ever. i’m every aspect of music making you can be good at. the weeknd is not only phenomenal but leagues and bounds ahead of almost every artist and the only artists that do certain things better lack in other things that the weeknd happens to be phenomenal at. consistency great at every. writing on the level as some of the best hophop writers ever with one of the best and most distinguishable voices in the industry
i say this because not enough people are acknowledging how this dude is basically undistputedly on the mount rushmore of music in general all genres. and if anyone wants to argue i promise the weeknd can clear anyone when you talk about EVERYTHING they bring to the table. even people like kanye mj and prince
Weeknd can't miss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dope album
Favorite Weeknd album?
@@NFRPodcast Trilogy
there’s no way he might’ve just topped after hours ….. AOTY week one of 22?!
Very possible!
Gasoline and Sacrifice are two of the best songs he's ever put out.
This album is different mate, it's special, it grows on you.
I didn't love after hours, but I can't get enough of this
His pitch on gasoline reminds me of Freddie Mercury
That’s a really good take!
Got a lot of Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode vibes on Gasoline vocals wise 👌
the weeknd discography ranking?!?!
The album was perfect that’s all I can really say about it
ENJOY GUYS, HAPPY NEW YEAR❤️
It’s also pretty genius imo that the album is called Dawn fm and most of the tracks are radio hits.
We need a WEEKND ALBUMS RANKED!
AOTY for sure, but if Kendrick drops...
