Atreus and Kratos' relationship is GENIUS. The fact that Kratos is trying to become a good father by taming himself from being the person he was gives Atreus the impression that he hates him, when really it's the opposite. All Kratos wants is to be a good parent to him since it's all he has left. And it's shown by how near the start of the game, Kratos struggles to simply pat his son on the back, but by the end of the game he's embracing him like it's normal. Him trying to change came at the price of his son thinking negatively about him. And you can TELL Kratos has changed too. He still gets angry from time to time, but he's really become all sage and wise now. I could honestly ramble about it for hours. It's so good.
If Atreus/Loki is anything like his mythological counterpart the next few games are going to be very interesting. Although nowadays we see Loki as a simple trickster god he was actually far more powerful than we give him credit for, as aside from being the god of trickery and possibly fire he was also responsible for earthquakes. You see after drunkenly admitting to playing a part in Baldur's death at a party the Norse Gods chained him to a bolder with the intestines of his own son and had a snake drip venom into his eyes. Now luckily Loki had a very faithful and loving wife (who's name I cant remember) who would hold a wooden bowl over the snake to keep the venom from falling on him. However the bowl would eventually become full and would have to be emptied out and in that brief span of time some venom would fall into Loki's eyes causing him to rile in pain causing bloody EARTHQUAKES. Lets see if he inherits some of that Godly might in game.

Ausura fought billions of monsters, Angel's, and gods. Transcended to the point of being able to fight the creator god of his universe destroying worlds and stars all just for his daughter I say he's the best father ever kratos is still great though.

Kratos' character development is on par with Vegeta's. Both started off as blood thirsty, selfish assholes only to later on become selfless, caring, and mature fathers while maintaining that savage badassery that made them fan favorites.
