That's the way Audi did it. You need the Audi 80 doors, a-pillar, and windshield to make a "real" Sport Quattro and/or S1. The Coupe a-pillars (and therefore windshield and doors) have a different angle. The rally cars were built with the more upright windscreen from the 80 because the Coupe windshield caused a lot of glare for the driver.
why not just shorten the coupe chassis? is it becouse of the rear wheel arch? why all s1 replicas usses audi 80 fron end with the coupe rear? why not just shorten the coupe?
