I loved watching wings with my stepdad back in the early 90s. After Desert Storm there was awesome docs about all kinds of fighters. You can find many here on youtube
Nice to see that the coalition as a whole got mentioned in such a straightforward and informative manner, not a propaganda film for one nation or another, yes, I know it was the RAF and American air power that were the main subjects but a lot of mention was made of other coalition forces, in fact I think all of them, didn’t matter whether it was 1 or 1000 aircraft. In short a discovery channel documentary like they used to make, properly and not a celebrity, tv or film star in sight, no quiz shows or Kardashian’s butt in sight, bring back the real discovery channel. The Tornados and Intruder aircraft were just two of many different types of aircraft within the coalition, but I am glad they were the ones selected to “star” in this film, the Tornado because I spent five years fixing the mother after pilots broke them, so I was glad to see them get used for the purpose they were designed for( not in a warmongering way, but in the pursuit of a honourable mission) and not broken because the crew broke them just because they could, especially late on Friday afternoons. The A-6 because it looks like an ugly duckling but with the “heart of a lion” and so it makes it iconic to me, not just for the gulf wars but because in its long life it has performed far in excess of its original concept, plus its one of my sons favourite aircraft. One thing that has always surprised me is the fact that the F-16 was originally designed in the mid to late 70s, I don’t know when it entered service but even so, to the uninitiated, they could be forgiven for thinking it is a new addition to the U.S aircraft arsenal and was designed as a replacement for the F-4 Phantom, that also saw action during desert storm, if memory serves me. Thanks for sharing this interesting and informative film. 👍

What he's saying is true, but needs explanation. The Brits, flying Tornadoes. were the best aircraft to deliver a runway cratering munition, which needs low-level delivery, hence their relatively high losses.
GR-1 was never designed for the roles used in the gulf. The RAF has returned to a world leading air power with the F-35 finally in the stables. Combined with its new carrier they will be able to project a significant stealth force exceedingly more effective than anything before it.
Well, after the first, low level phase, the medium level sorties were viewed with some concern by the crews - navigation became more difficult and it was harder to pick up offsets due to ground clutter. There were sorties where they were just like Lancasters, dropping as much as 64,000Ib of HE in 8-ship formations with some experiencing nav system failures and really testing the crew.
GSR1 British cold war era aircraft held its own. Great planes built when there is a possible competition between enemy countries. Cold War was a leap and bounds affair for aeronautical research.
Now I can see what Iranian pilots were talking about with they had no spares or parts or new plain , they done very well in 8 years war and they were bombing heart of Baghdad oil fields and power plants

Me too!!!!’ When it was AWESOME and had great documentaries. Wish the History Channel
Was the same. Total dogshit now.
The backseat video of an entire(cropped) flight in an F-16 made a fitting end to the video.

The voice is unique and so macho. Not like many robo voice videos now adays.
The narrator is actor Will Lyman. He's known more recently for the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man In The World" commercials.
When the going gets tough send in the RAF!!!!!
Love these old vids, w real live voices on radios. F-16 is still a great plane, if I had to fight a Mig give me an F-16!!
Anyone next to a Tornado doing an engine run or taking off won't forget that sound. Videos don't convey how very loud they are!
Tornado looks a true beast of an aircraft ,
The A-6E Intruder was the Jeep of the air. All weather HOSS of an aircraft.
I love this show!

Open oooo
The Intruder is still one of the greatest penetration attack aircraft in my book
Just started learning about them. I have to agree. Great aircraft.
Flight of The intruder is a great movie on that plane
@@NandyF50 still has some of the best flight scenes in Hollywood history.

The Tornado GR1 was a really beast holy shit
Years ago i worked with an old senior engineer who had a design role on the tornado. Pretty cool thing to put on your resume.
39:30 it say backseat of an F-16....besides an experimental two-seater F-16, there were no two seater F-16's in the USAF. Were there???
F-16s come in a two-seat trainer version - how many relative to one-seaters I couldn't tell you. Most combat squadrons had one or two.
@@BigBlueJake for ongoing check-rides, standards evaluation
2:05 "While the Tornado GR1 is a bomber..." - shows a Jaguar!
I spotted that too. Recognise the little intakes anwhere!
Ha. Isnt THAT great

Stevie Jo this is number one bullshit
Angus Van Halen agreed
If Gr1+F-16 = 1, what is the value of r?
2:06 is a Sepecat Jaguar. Dingbats!
The Tornado is like the F-14 tomcat's Daddy. They kinda look similar..
The Tornado is such a good looking beast..
Those two Harrier pilots look like some silly dudes.
Iraq should of kept going before the Coalition built up. Roll until they reach the bottom of Saudia Arabia
17:12 men that was never before seen when a pilot stand on top on the tornado. Huuurrraaahhh
DURAK USSR
that was good old days where we weren't health and safety mad
If that AAA had been radar guided...
Don't take a tornado to a tomcat fight.
Why? The fighter mark tornado was more than capable.
5:04 12 Fuckin' air bombers ?

Top gun 🤪
Updated US F-111
Whoa!...... the RAF loses 25 pilots a year in normal training?
The initial descriptions of the Tornado variants by the narrator are utter garbage and Jags flying CAP? I think not!

That was one of the stupidest war in history
You're the stupidest person in history.
