The benefits of a quasi-photographic memory. Have you heard his Moscow lecture-recital? He apologizes to the audience for the Webern he's about to play perfectly saying "I haven't played this for 2 years"!
She enjoyed a long career, primarily as a concert and recital singer, first as a soprano and later as a mezzo-soprano. She recorded extensively and in a very wide repertoire. Especially prized are the live recordings, which provide something of the vitality and warmth she radiated on those occasions. The lifelong effects of childhood polio severely limited her mobility, especially in later years. Nevertheless, she appeared occasionally on opera stages and in televised opera, including Boston productions especially staged for her by Sarah Caldwell. Her final performances in opera were as the old nurse in Eugene Onegin, in both Ottawa and Toronto. Early fame came with appearances and recordings with Toscanini and Beecham. For many years, she toured as the soprano soloist in the Bach Aria Group, and sang in annual Toronto performances of Messiah and St. Matthew Passion. -- Wikipedia
One of the greatest violinists of the last 100 years. Fantastic musician, technical perfection. Oscar Shumsky makes almost all other great violinists pale by comparison. Unfortunately he refused to have a career as a soloist, and preferred the less agitated life of a concert master
Glenn Gould’s theory and commentary is fabulous. I totally agree!
Shumsky, so cool and composed. Gould looks like he's run the marathon!.
Beautiful performance.
As anticipated Shumsky sets the standard. Beautiful in every way.
Fantastik violinist Mr. Shumsky! What a majestic ensemble.
Oscar Shumsky violinist Strauss - Fabulous!
Glenn Gould’s Words are Music to Ears💗

Stunning talent. Always amazing to me how such a thing is achievable. Never fails to impress.
@@arnoldhemsley9317 Beyond my belief
When Gould speaks it reminds me of Rod Sterling from "The Twilight Zone."
E non venite a dirmi che questo non è rock!! L'unico strumentista che Gould non riuscì a sovrastare!
Shumsky magnifico!!!
Strauss, Sakamoto, Ellington and Joplin are the greatest composers ever.
This soprano is fantastic, how have I never heard of her before?

Чтож там все тетки-то такие страшные? 🤔 Неудивительно, что Гульд не повёлся. Надо на него только смотреть 🤩.
Wonderful presentation by Gould but week interpretation by Shumsky, too much narrow vibrato, better listening Heifetz and especially Wanda Luzzato.
