Thanks for the explainer. I found the tabs under the dust cover were important to align with the holes in the headlight assembly (cause more removal challenges than the o ring). For those watching this video, make sure you turn and check by pulling lightly on the cover to ensure you’ve rotated the tabs into the gaps through which they can removed. There are 4 tabs & gaps, spaced 90 degrees apart. The tab gaps are located at the 12/3/6/9 o’clock positions within the assembly, while the tabs are spaced similarly on the internal side of the dust cover, with the 12 o’clock tab being directly behind the one extended external “finger grip” on the cover. Hope this saves people some time & frustration :)
Thank you!!! My headlight has been out for a few weeks …went and bought a replacement bulb and told my husband because he usually is the one that does all this kind of stuff for me but my light is still out! So now I can do it myself!! 😁 Thank you!
@@5MinuteFixit I did and followed 😁 I also put changed the bulb myself. Not easy because the factory seal was super tight .. I too had to use a screwdriver and eventually it popped off. Thanks again!!!
Just changed both of my headlights on my runner yesterday thanks to your video. Driver side was a little difficult due to the battery being in the way, but it’s done the same just needing a little maneuvering. Now what else can i do??😂😂 thanks again!
Just got a 19 4runner trd pro and the low beam halogens can't compare to my aftermarket leds. I was worried it would be a bigger process but this isn't bad and knowing the bulb number really helps
That’s great! I’m glad you found the video helpful and were able to replace it yourself! Thank you for watching and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
Thank you my dust water plate is hard to turn and I was worried if I forced it wrong it would break. She's a new truck to me so there's a learning curve, I was right but thank you for reassuring me.
Mine were hard remove. Finally realized I was trying to rotated them too far. It did take a small screwdriver nudge to loosen them after the rotation. Then i had a problem. The H11 bulb is listed as the low beam replacement. It is not the correct bulb. Wiring harness and retainer tabs DO NOT match the factory bulb.
Thank you for the simple explanation! Many RUclips-ers talk soooooo much. This is perfect.

Hey, will this process work for a 2017 4Runner? Is that considered 5th generation?
Yes it’s the same, and a 2017 is a 5th gen. Thank you for watching!
🙂
The driver's side replacement pretty much requires removing the battery to get easy access, at least it did on my 2013
Yes on the drivers side it is much more cramped, thank you for the tip!
What bulb number ?
It’s a H11 bulb Here’s a link if you’re interested amzn.to/3tuPswa *Amazon Affiliate Link*
I hate that my 2024 headlights doesn’t look like this under the hood
Good video, but you never showed the actual bulb...
How about when the factory puts the cap on too fucking tight and you can’t get it off?
They are on pretty tight! There is a rubber O-ring that seals dust and water out. Thank you for watching!
Yes I have the same problem! WTF? Any idea how to get it off??
Mine were hard remove. Finally realized I was trying to rotated them too far. It did take a small screwdriver nudge to loosen them after the rotation.

Not as easy for the other bulb. The battery is in the way.....
