The sad truth is that we live in a disposable society Everyone wants to pay nothing and get everything Quality costs as a contractor I learned the hard way when buying my tools if I didn't spend the money up front I would end up spending more money in the long run not to mention the cost of down time while I replaced the crap I had saved so much money on ya right I'm not saying to not get the best deal you can What I am saying is that the cheapest isn't always a good idea especially if it's at the cost of your own country's work force Just saying If you get caught not thinking it can get expensive in many ways Take care and good luck Merry Christmas and a happy new year
Ps the last tourniquet I used was a peace of 14 gauge romex and a peace of 2×2 One of the electricians stepped in to a dump bin to grab a peace of wire He stepped up to his knee in the bin right through a peace of plate glass cutting him multiple times to the bone really wish I had a cat tourniquet that day
Thank you..! This message needs echoed far and wide. Junk tourniquets can be a real danger for wannabe hero’s, weekend warriors, and the people around them.
Great info. Though, never take a negative attitude. First it took a ton of effort to break that windlass. You say if it breaks you are done for. I say grab the nearest cartridge case and slide it over that. Strip the barrel out of his pistol and slide it over, maybe the pistol works by itself, maybe the mag works. One thing climbing teaches you is there is always an anchor. Climbing in the 70 taught a lot more than that we made a lot of our own gear. One injury the gear review process inflicts on people is the idea you are SOL if you don't have all the premium equipment. Don't be a victim.
I own both. The only one I have personally had to use (to save my own life) was the recon. It hurt like hell and it stopped the bleed. It did it's job. If you're strapped for cash and you need multiples I would recommend the recon. The NAR is the gold standard however. One is the DeWalt, the other is the Milwaukee. 😂🤣🤣 on the same token, the Amazon one is the black and decker.
Good video. Not sure i 100% agree. The cheap ones are good for developing muscle memory and motar skills. But definitely write training or Junk on them. Id rather buy and stretch out fakes ones or someone get an understanding of spending the extra money for real tourniquets, when the junk breaks. Good for training only. But CATs are good for me and family. RECON tourniquets were cheaper and went in kits for treating others, not family. Junk one's i prefer to train with because i am paying for them, not a company. But definitely labeled crap.
Real question: how does one prepare/bug out with animals? Do we ditch them? That has never sat right in my heart. Do we go all out an save every single one? Or so we go all Noah and bring breeding pairs? Noah just doesn't seem logical. I wish pets were more discussed in the preparedness community. All to often pets are the ones left behind in disasters. It's also made me reflect on our animals behaviors. People hate cats killing little animals and leaving them for their humans. BUT in a survival situation a cat bringing you a small kill would be an incredible gift. It gave me a whole new love and respect for my cats (current and deceased). We have taken so many things for granted in modernity.
I understand your concerns, too often those pets are abandoned by non-preppers simply because they aren't Prepared. Pet prepping is becoming a topic, mostly on smaller channels but there are great suggestions and recommendations out there.
Bear I know you're a best of the best kinda guy. I took your advice and bought the condor and spartans, I'm a patreon and I'm just trying to do what I can including storing freeze dried food. But I'm broke and trying to put together a little med kit. I went with the junk amazon over C.A.T. cause I didn't have $100 to spend. I'm trying brother, some of us have to make do with what we can.
You'd be better off with a cravat and a wooden dowel vs a fake amazon TQ. We've all struggled but I would hope your life is worth more than saving $20 on a life saving TQ.
Thanks, I would never knowingly buy a fake but your video helped to spot the differences and confirm the ones I order are the real deal gen 7 NRA CATs.
“jUsT aS gOod!” - Sometimes it’s ALMOST as good, sometimes it’s utter garbage. More often than not it’s slightly subpar in almost every area, but mostly workable.
I can remember when you highly recommended the Recon Medical tourniquet and NAR wasn't even in the conversation. I have used both and they seem pretty equal. My thin budget dictated that I go with the Recon Medical unit because my money went twice as far for a quality item that you used to highly tout.
I try to never buy anything from China. When I go to Amazon, I ask for American Made product then I check the manufacturer to make sure. Sometimes it's difficult, but that's one of my convictions. That being said, thank you for the review! I have the NAR and love it. It hurts, though! LOL! Shalom and Blessings Bear!
Careful, just because it says the "manufacturer" is in america doesn't mean anything. It just means something during production was "manufactured" in america. Like the velcro label you'd write "junk" on after it breaks.
CAT just stands for Combat Application Tourniquet. Its a STYLE Of Tourniquet not a designation or brand. Might want to throw that out there bear. That being said I never buy anything less than a recon in terms of quality.
@@gmaster45612374 i stand corrected on the registered trademark. Thanks. But that is what it stands for, and there are other one handed application tourniquet on that style.
Important medical gear like this, get from North American Rescue, if I remember correctly everything they have is USA made. Stay off Amazon and similar unless you have actual part numbers and it's an American seller.
Can you make a channel on odysee as well? I'm de-googling myself. Sick of supporting platforms that support enemies and employ mass censorship. Merry Christmas to you and you're family.
I live by this rule; never skimp on equipment that is designed to save your life.
Save a life OR take a life
Nothing better than skimping on life saving equipment. Said no one bleeding out.
I just bought a CAT gen 7 because of you. Maybe you’ll save another life.

You were smart enough to improvise and overcome your dilemna and save a man's life. I SALUTE you
Anything made to save your life is priceless.
3:41 OH DEAR........... similar, but not the same. Thank you for this insight.

I prefer recons because of the thumb loop. Much easier to apply when seconds count.
Great Comparison Vid, I have some NAR and Recon also, thanks for sharing and Blessings to you and your family Bear.
Well I was not aware of this. Just started prepping about 1 year ago and recently bought Amazon TQ’s when I get some money I will have to replace them
sometimes you have to get what your budget can afford. balance.
I’ve done the same
I like recon medical. Grizzly Hills Supply tourniquets are identical to them. I stocked up on those for my extra bags.
North American Rescue are in 2 packs on Amazon. North American Rescue 2 Pack Genuine NAR CAT Tourniquet Gen 7 Black
Thanks for snapping the windlass, saved me from buying and testing it myself 😂
Oh well, 1 CAT that works is better than 4 straps that don't.

I’m glad you made this video, I have 4 or so Recon’s, and didn’t want to just toss them, but have started collecting the NAR CAT7
The overall trick is value not price. Cheap is a relative term.
Thank you very much for this information.
I will definitely be buying the CAT ones
thanks for video. question - why you do not try broke the original CAT? for comparison

If I don’t watch bears videos in the first few hours. RUclips always pulls them. I hate it!!!
it is playable now.
Spray paint the junk ones pink or blue that way you know. Still use em for training.

@@gmaster45612374 Thanks for the advice sir. They had good reviews, but after seeing it break like that I'll slowly acquire some lol!
@@rcintro1489 You never see bad TQ reviews because well...they're a lot like parachutes in that regard.
Missle strike in Nashville the vid is still up at prime time patriots channel so far!

That’s the money talking
Thank you brother!
I don't even shop at harbor freight for my tools , quality over quantity any given day . SHALOM .
@3:35 wow 😬 I have a set of these and in the trash they go
It's been 4 days! Where you at bear!?
When you use it make sure it hurts !
Did it get pulled down. 908est says it’s not playable.
The older generations look like the fake ones. I have 2 from the Army. The lot number is from 2010
the chineseium ones are good for practice. nothing more
Good info. Thanks
Patreon isn’t letting me join your channel.....
But how do you tell a gen6 CAT apart from a fake one ?
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS. MAY GODS BLESSINGS CONTINUE TO FALL UPON YOU IN THE NEW YEAR.
mmm GGGina
believe me, believe me. GGGGina

Ordered you med kits what comes in them?
You just answered my question T

False. C-A-T is a registered trademark of North American Rescue who manufactures it.

Has anyone used the fake and worked tho?
Thanks again Bear, just got my Bearfak this week, there is no substitute for quality, and your kits are the best.
Video won’t play
Bought 2 cats. 1 is none 2 is 1
I can hear and see everything. Thanks 🐻
Great info!👍🏾👊🏾🇺🇸
You get what you pay for, and how much is a life worth ?
Only reals will do!
Already taken down

I’m having the same issue with this one.
Every time I try to open your channel on RUclips it tells me something went wrong but I have no problems with Patreon FUCK RUclips
