That interview must have been an exception, most probably because Roy Plomley found a "right tone" to talk to DJD :) I'm not really sure, but the other thing is that in a footage (not really an interview) with Richard Eyre talking to Judi, she said that actors have their right to live a private life as well, especially, when they are so dedicated to their work as she is. And yes... Judi is incomparable actress and very charming lady :)
That is why I don't enjoy this millenium interviews ;) People are afraid to look around, to stop talking, we are taught how to smile to attract others attention :) Apparently, Judi is smiling naturally during the shot, not the way the producers made her to. Well... in the end you can't open your heart to strangers, no point at all.
