It's pretty rad to watch how patiently you read the waves and pick your route - I'd love to see this POV with a wider field of view and no fisheye. Strong work yanking your boy outa there and keeping it hullyside down.
Wow! I'm out of breath just watching this video. I had no idea it took such effort to just get out to those monster waves. Talk about living life to the fullest. Keep it up. God Bless.
When 7:45 came around I had completely forgot about the surfer! He was still zip tied to the ski. That could have been him we heard when hitting the water after an escape. “Ahhhh.” Sometimes it’s hard to spot these guys in the water. Why not wear like an aluminum kind of jacket. Something shiny that reflects the sun? Why not disperse a dye in the frothy latte after an indo towards the bottom? Thanks for the perspective.
@3:54 my heart freakin sank for you dude! 😵💫 Amazing work, struggle to imagine anything more frightening and exhilarating. Respect brother, I reckon most people would find it impossible to fathom how much work and determination that would’ve taken. YOU HAVE THE BALLS OF A DEMI GOD
Man I would love to see a split screen for one of these vids with an angle from up on the cliff. So hard to get a perspective of how crazy/difficult what he just did was
This guy has obviously had a sh*t ton of experience reading and predicting the wave cycles and dynamics. You'd never, ever get me out on a Sea Doo during big waves at Nazare. I'd become a statistic.
Wow, watching this from Aussie, I’ve watched a lot of tow-in and pickups, however, it’s usually raw but not really, or it’s just all how the files manipulated, and like anything that’s hard, people doing whatever that may be, make it look easy, i gotta say that was painful, props man, I was reaching for coup bars towards end of this, coz it certainly nothing like it is portrayed in this sport around the globe.. cheers for upload, be safe!
Impressive action, hard to imagine how it looks and feels when you are actually there because on the camera it looks always smaller than it actually is. Went with a Jetski through the bar in Noose while we had 9 feet of waves and that was scary as hell. Just wondering, in the white water, do you feel that there is less power of the Jetski to go forward or is that neglectable
Yeah, I thought so. The engine also sounds differently in the white water. Would love to see more videos on the jet ski from you... feel in love with Jet Skis and waves in Australia. Was only riding Enduro and surfing when I was younger.
@@fredoaqua yeah, there are a lot of air bubbles in white water, that’s why it’s white and not blueish, this makes the impeller have cavitation. This sucks. I remember training on the banks and rescueing a kiteboarder here with only 12-15ft waves during storms... going though the white water was already messed up. I can only imagine how hellish stuff like Nazare would be...
@@PatJuhNL Last month I ended up in white water and didn't have anyone to help me, I almost died it is really hard to swim there while big waves hit you
There’s got to be something here I don’t understand. I have years of experience riding skis in surf. Pretty gnarly at times. In order to get through the wash you really need to cover ground (water in this case) between the waves. It seemed he didn’t. Took many precautions that I’d normally just charge and blast over/through. While that whitewater was big, it was nothing that ski couldn’t handle. It’s probably more to do with the rider being towed behind. All speculation.
Trying to work out the strategy? You look if the wave is too big and then go close to shore where it has less energy. Then wait for a gap in the waves and gun it? Can't wait for the VR goggles version. Maybe red bull can sponsor a waterproof vr camera.. that was fun!
How tall are the waves in the video it says large waves so im guessing 40ft plus. But they look 10 ft max from this perspective how wide are the waves here.
Go pro reduces size tremendously......seen vid at Puerto from go pro and land video on same sequence and its shocking how it looked dbl overhead max on go pro but it was 4 times if not bigger from land....
He’s got skill. At 3:54 if he hadn’t laid into it and turned left a bit he would have been in a bit of trouble. So hard to maneuver these things in the white like that. Feels like you’re just spinning your wheels and not going anywhere with all the air bubbles.
Question from someone who doesent know much about surfing, Nazare or jet skis: why did the jet ski driver try to break through the waves? Seemed like the waves to the right (if looking with your back to the beach) were not breaking as much nor that hard - wouldnt it be easier and safer to go around, or is there something else that I dont know of that made the driver take the route he took?
I love all the people talking about how he keeps revving the throttle. You can tell they've never been on the inside on a ski and never been in foamy water on a ski. You are doing a lot of navigating and trying to get the ski to bite but it isnt
Looked like he could have went over that wave surfer was on, but maybe go pro gives skewed view......so 9 min caught inside on jetski....imagine paddling, lol
sik59rt yes the impellers are not very efficient due to the frothy water having a large percentage of air mixed with it. The throttling technique of the rider doesn’t help either ree ree ree reeee ree ree!
Serious props to the drive man you got it down for sure. I do have one question tho, why not go out of the waves to the right if your facing the sea and go out and around?
@@matias3650 Thats what i thought at first too. but he did it too many times. I think he was just being ultra-cautious until he had to make a decision. instead of trying to shoot a gap
You control if there is enough gaz before going out there, if the jetski malfunction, you will have to swim to the shore.. It has also already happened few times
Dont take much throttle to grt moving quick on a modern jetski and theres only so fast you can go on water that is choppy. Also could be partially from the air bubbles making it rev up and down. The ski wont really move in foam
Big wave riders say the jetski is harder to ride than the waves bc they have to worry about the surfer and put themself in danger to save the surfer and you can’t go under waves on a jetski makes it even harder to get out there

I do alot of riding in big stuff. Mate stop stabbing throttle and just get up it! You ended up in shore cause you fucking around with throttle. Use the speed to your advantage and chase the gaps
Every wave he comes over why doesn’t he just hammer down when he sees an opening? Do the jet skis not work that good in all that white water something seems like he’s putting around
In white water there’s probably less than half the usual power you get because white water is mostly air...As well as a lot less balance in white water versus smooth wakes.
RAW footage with NO STUPID MUSIC or effets. THANK YOU! :)
"no stupid music" 😆😆👍
it really shows how much these jet ski's have to work to get back out.
It is not an easy way out :)

The reef at nazare is extremely shallow to the left of the beach meaning the surfer on the back or the jet ski might get damaged
I’ve jetski’d with my dad on the south coast of England (Bournemouth) and I thought that could get choppy, that looks scary 🤣

Why the surfers do not use some kind of lifesavers, or bouyancy vest?
They do, they wear these inflatable vests or swimsuits

In Nazaré must have a minimum of 300 HP.
je pensais pas que c'était autant galère même avec un jet. En même on est pas n'importe ou non plus ici...
