I was never the biggest ARod guy when he was still in the league, but man he's a great TV personality. He has tons of knowledge, stories, and speaks very well.
ARod made a fantastic point about the 4th of July. The MLB should dominate TV that day with top games just like the NFL takes over Thanksgiving and the NBA with Christmas.
I’d watch it all day but the problem is that the whole country on 4th of July is at parades, lake houses, and fireworks. Everyone’s outside but thanksgiving everyone is inside cuz it’s cold and it’s perfect for tv.
@@Arod2023 Im not saying they didnt i’m saying it would be nice to have someone start who’s universally liked and knows the actual game. Doesnt get better than Griffey or Ichiro
A Rod was right about Edgar Martinez hitting. I once saw him hit 3 straight line drive homers to left, center and right during batting practice at Tiger Stadium. The whole time he was laughing and joking with teammates in the late 90s. A hitting savant.
Because the average watcher is not very smart. Almost everyone watches football and basketball is very easy to understand. Hockey and baseball are much more intellectual/difficult to grasp right away.
I really wonder how baseball has changed off the field. A-Rod was speaking about being taught how to lay off a split finger and such. Today the broadcasters are always speaking about exit velo, launch angle, spin rate, etc. I know pitchers that help each other with spin rate and pitches, but do hitters still talk about how to lay off some pitches, recognize a pitch off the spin, things like that? I always loved hearing these stories from guys like A-Rod and how other more experienced guys taught them secrets to the trade. I wonder if down the line we will hear stories about how Judge had a conversation with Matt Holliday during his 52 homer rookie season about recognizing sliders, who learned that from Todd Helton or Larry Walker etc.
Except he covered baseball almost exclusively early in his career and can name entire Seattle Mariner Rosters. But ya. He knows nothing about baseball.
Colin! I love you, man, but get to the question! I understand you want to set up your question first, but... just ask. 🤦🏾♂️ "Cut the foreplay and just ask" - Tyler Durden
Aside from Mike Tyson, I don't think another sports figure has done a better job post retirement in changing their imagine. He was one of the most hated and laughed at people in sports during this time, and since then, he's become a much more likeable person be it because of Shark Tank or baseball tonight. He's someone that's every important to baseball to right now.
Its possible the elusive spot in the hall of fame is why he will not leave baseball and has remained. To get in as a broadcaster or something of that nature who knows. Would be awesome though, certainly not complaining. Just thinking if he had never gotten caught for roids if he would have turned into the Arod we see today is interesting
WRONG WRONG WRONG! colin, WRONG! Home-runs dont and will never be the reason a team wins titles, EVER! anaylitics means nothing when it comes to championship baseball. However, Homeruns can help the team with leads, or to tie up a game, but home runs will never be the reason you win a chip, ever!
Astros-Mariners with the game of the day, a wild game for any round of the playoffs. Asks one question about Arod’s favorite Mariners memory in 45 seconds, doesn’t even mention the game. Typical. And you wonder why everyone outside of Los Angeles and New York HATE the national media
A Rod, not the whole national media. No one could "hate" Bob Costas. Costas was "born" to announce baseball. I would put Costas on Baseball Broadcaster .Mt. Rushmore with, Ernie Harwell, Vin Scully, Jack Buck.
@@williamdillard5060 I’m talking about cowherd. To guys like him, nothing outside of Los Angeles or New York even exists. You would think a team that is in the World Series every other year, in the ALCS for 5 years running, and won a wild game in a super improbable fashion would at least merit a question or two. Nah, let’s plug another 800 questions about judge and literally everyone else except the Astros
When Arod and Jeter used to be buddies, Arod would turn on the TV to watch the other games playing at eahc others houses. Jeter wanted no part of any of that. Arod was and still is a baseball geek.
If you are Steve Cohen don’t you offer Judge 8/800 million? Hurt the Yankees, helps you,and blows every other team out of the water. The money is nothing to Cohen.

Hearing Alex himself talk about him flying with all those Mariners gave me such a rush of nostalgia. He'll always be one of our best draft picks!
ARod made a fantastic point about the 4th of July. The MLB should dominate TV that day with top games just like the NFL takes over Thanksgiving and the NBA with Christmas.
Hes so proud of himself for that idea too he looked like george bush after he completed a sentence all giddy.

AROD should be the commissioner. He's owned up to his past and has better ideas than the current regime in a lagging sport.
That's the best suggestion I've heard in years
Too much baggage. Like it or not he put the game in harms way. Griffey or Ichiro would be a better commissioner imo
@@domonicdecoco2410 and Bud Selig didn't? And Manfred hasn't? At least Alex has a functional brain and lives in the 21st century.

Love the baseball talk Colin!!
Love him or hate him, he's a baseball genius and always offers a unique perspective.
A-Rod is one of the GOATS regardless of what peoples opinions about him are
A-Rod is the reason I fell in love with the Yankees when I was 7. I hate what he did, but I always respect him. Even post career, he’s been awesome.
Same brotha. Born in 2001 and he was always my favorite player on the team
In like every baseball segment basketball or football is brought up to try to make viewers understand through that parallel 😂
Because the average watcher is not very smart. Almost everyone watches football and basketball is very easy to understand. Hockey and baseball are much more intellectual/difficult to grasp right away.
A-Rod is a baseball savant, love hearing him give the details of the sport.
I always catch myself rooting for ARod.
Arod is onto something with the July 4th thing. It just makes sense
Great segment
best idea ever about July 4th.

Colin talking baseball. He knows the name of 6 baseball players .....
6 is being generous.
Amen. He gets so hyper when talking about baseball and speaks super fast trying to sound like he knows something.
Except he covered baseball almost exclusively early in his career and can name entire Seattle Mariner Rosters. But ya. He knows nothing about baseball.
He may know plenty about 90’s Mariners baseball but he clearly doesn’t know much today.
I like baseball, really only pay hard attention during the playoffs but I still know most players and everything

Does Alex have glitter in his hair or something? His head is sparkling at around 7:00 😂
What clayton is in the regular season is what MadBum is in the post season. 3 rings baby!
That was too short, but I enjoyed it. 0-:
0:44 The Irony of Colin asking AROD if you can run out of Juice? Hahah arod is like I never ran outta juice
also "i think you're on something"
A-Rod should be in the Mariners Hall of fame!
He really should. Seattle needs to get over it already and put him in. Acting like he didn't carry them in the 2000 playoffs.
Only A Rod would remind us of how many HRs he's hit.
Colin Cowherd kills me everytime he says he grew up in Seattle man....
But his references are spot on from what I've heard
>lives in Seattle
@@jasN86i live in Seattle too. He didn't grow up in Seattle. He grew up in bay center wa 3 hours south

Michael Vick also
Arod is onto something about July 4, make it a baseball day.
When Colin said “you’re on something that I totally agree with”, I thought he was gonna go somewhere else with that if you know what I mean
Lol, you could see A-Rod thinking Oh, no…

How. He was accurate
Arod got some crystals on his head why tf his hair shiny
