The pianist was also of very high standard!
Of course for a place like this the grand piano itself was of classic concert quality, but he really pushed it!
I have been a Fan of this Band for more than 15 years, They have many more Incredible Songs. You Guys should check out their Song Temple of Thought (The Unplugged Version)next its Amazing.

"Where do we draw the line" next. It is one of the most beautiful of their songs.
What brought us these magnificent sessions was COVID-19. A gorgeous place like this with excellent acoustics was vacant for months and thus rentable for a reasonable price.
For once no need for reverb effects - just mic the whole room.
This theater was built when Finland was part of Russia and the czar wanted there to be facilities that would be worth his majesty when he visited, so even while Helsinki was a small and poor city, it had to have a theater suitable for the royals.
you should definitely do the whole Alexander theatre session.. Also.. watch Temple of thought (acoustic) and Cradled in love

Finally some music that fits both my taste & nationality. Even the lyrics were a poetic masterpiece.
This is one of my absolute favorite bands. Honestly severely underrated.
Not a bad place considering it was built I think in 1865 as a Russian Army Theatre. Finland gained her indipendence in 1917.
Marko Saaresto has a velvety full voice, but he can handle high notes and fancetto as well. He has lived in England, you can hear that, and his prononciation is very good and clear.
These Alexander Theatre acoustic stripped versions are great. They released one Alexander Theatre Sessions video every month last year.
I agree, the grand piano sounded absolutely great. No need for any other instrument(s).
I believe he is half-British, on his Mum's side.
When I first heard them I didn't even realize they were Finnish. His voice and their genre are more like something that could and should be in heavy rotation on American radio stations.
So happy you did this guys - the beauty of the Alexander Theater Sessions is that every single song is amazingly arranged and not a bit of substandard sound in any of it! You can't go wrong with any of the choices they offer for that album, I hope you will continue to enjoy those :)

I'm soooo glad you discovered their Alexander Theatre (acoustic) Sessions!! Twelve songs, one a month, for a year during COVID. Angel was a beautiful song! If you really liked the piano, they have another song, "Lift" (episode 8) that is also just the piano with Marko singing. What I like about this song is that the original version is a such a faster paced, guitar driven, Rock song. Yet the acoustic version with just piano is simply beautiful...I didn't even realize it was the same song the first time I heard it! I second any request for the acoustic version of "Lift" for a reaction (and then you should watch the official video for the harder original version on your own and compare 😊).

The piano is a Yamaha CFX (Conservatory Series) 9' concert grand, their top of the line. Beautiful to play, wonderful to tune.

They have a couple with the amazing ensamble TrioSis+, 4 amazing ladies on violins and cello. Rebirth is my absolute favorite of the Alexander theater sessions featuring the whole band and TrioSis+.
POTF is masterful at using Maarko to create emotional music. The way they create the runs he has at the end of the chorus is a trademark of their music. It always brings me back for more.

You should listen "Temple of thought", acoustic version. That's one of my favourites of PoTF. By the way, Alexandre theatre use to be national opera house in Helsinki, Finland. Nowadays it is national balets place more or less. Name comes from Emperor Alexander II.
Old Gods of Asgard is a fictional band which has a music played on some videogames.
Of course it is a Poets of The Fall but a little bit of different harder tone.

I love watching you gushing over PotF, as they deserve! They are so good, one of my absolute favourite bands. Every single one of their songs is a masterpiece, no kidding. Ginger's face at 2:53 is how they make me feel 100% of the time.

Love this band, he's my second favourite singer after Chris Harms. These guys are amazing live, I'm lucky enough to have tickets for next year to see them again. I can't really recommend one song over another, like LOTL, they're all good. 🖤
