hey Jas; I remember seeing your vlog and thinking one day i'll make it there one day.. Guess what I just did Gokyo Ri , chola pass and ebc last week. feels incredible to do on your own and i feel that I'm ready for bigger challenges in life. Thanks.
You started diamox one day to late.Suggest next trip purchase L.P. Trekking Nepal Himalaya, study it as tons of info especially maps showing how to return to Namche different route than you went up.Also consider walk in,walk out.No Lukla.Give you credit for doing everything your self. This way you control the trip not the guide.Enjoy next trek.
congrats on your solo success. I am preparing for Nov 24 solo without porter and guide . Had a query. I want to know weight of your backpack and it's contents (I know it's long ago but it shall help)
I can see you had no preparation, as you missed the best section of trails in the whole Khumbu. The Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Sceninc Trail offers vastly better views than the standard Tengboche route. Why would anybody walk the same trail twice when there is a better alternative?
Having a guide and a porter is a way to learn more about the culture and the in the region. You don't need a guide to show you the way, but it's a big part of the overall experience and you really missed out big time. Additionally, it's the best way to support the local people.
I totally agree! It's just two different ways of doing it, I learned a lot from the locals as I had learned Nepali in the previous 4 months in spent there and made friends with porters who happily shared their knowledge, and I gave back to them too. I appreciate your perspective though, thanks!

go stand there with a placard saying that you should not take the same route whilst heading back.
