This is a good point. But it is the same for every other Jedi as well, although they don't go slaughtering nomads and other stuff, that's yet to come. There's a reason why the council initially refused to let Qui-Gon take Anakin as his Padawan. He had already a bag of tricky emotions then. And pride was already pretty dominant, as a child boasting about his racing skills and now whining about Obi-Wan holding him back while also boasting how he'll be the most powerful Jedi ever.
So yeah, he had repressed emotions, tons of them...that's why he never should've been trained in the first place. Just saying.

      @kmh4674 9 месяцев назад +18

The way I usually think of it as well is that it can be actually physically taxing to use the force especially to fight someone. It was said in the original trilogy that coming to use the force is like coming to see for the first time and that the force is an extension of one's own body. Yes, Qui Gon had said to Shmi that seeing things is a natural Jedi trick but I always imagined day to day and the subconscious use of the force to channeling it toward something like a fight to be the difference between walking around you house on a day off and playing a competitive sport. yes you're use the same senses and means to do the same task but one is almost effortless and unconscious vs the other being incredibly physically demanding and exhausting. I've also always thought of this as being part of the reason meditation is such a big thing for the Jedi because it's a form of rest for the mind and emotions like sleep is a form of rest for the body.

That is a good catch one of the more subtle explanations going on. That said, even without the force, I've seen similar examples. My grandfather walked slowly and carefully, with a bit of a shuffle. But he was also a ballroom dancer. You put on a good waltz, and suddenly he was a tornado on the dance floor, gracefully soaring from one end to the other leading a partner often many years younger. 5 minutes later, he was shuffling back to his seat and I am sure he paid for it the next day. But for a few minutes he was a young man again giving it his all.

you could argue that shows the different type of love. His love for Padme and even for his mom were more possessive loves, about how they related to him. His love for Luke was totally different in that regard. If he loved Padme that way he would see his actions to save her as the betrayal they were.

He went from having nothing to suddenly being able to have everything but being told he shouldn’t want that because it’s not the Jedi way. It just shows what is fundamentally wrong with the Jedi order that they can’t recognize the error in their own thinking and that the rigidity of their own rules is a problem. Something like Anakin’s fall was bound to happen eventually.

The reason Anakin was able to do that "jump out of a flying car and try to predict an assassin were chasing will pull out under me so i can land on their car and end the chase" trick (other than for the sake of plot) is because his high midichlorian count allows him glimpses of the possible outcomes of actions he is deciding to take, so canonically he likely saw himself jumping and then landing safely on the assassins car before he took the leap.

Best bet, watch things in the order they were made. Can't go wrong that way. Trying to watch things in chronological order can be tricky, you might miss references made in a show that happens early, but it's referencing something that came out in material before that. The retcon stuff, basically, can be better interpreted by watching in release order.

He famously played Dracula, James Bond villain Scaramanga and Lord of the Rings wizard Saruman, amongst many others. He appeared in many Hammer studios horror films with his best mate Peter Cushing, who was Tarkin in A New Hope.

Bored to tears with Anakin and Padme (wandering in her bdsm leather get up) and it was the scene where they are in the "villa" by the fire side and it gets all quiet since Anakin is really going at the angst he is going through... and some guy screams out at the top of his lungs, "STICK IT IN HER BUTT" the entire audience went hysterical. Greatest Star Wars movie ever with zero point zero thanks to Star Wars.

It's probably been explained already, but yes, the Jedi can "force jump" and also make themselves briefly run faster (only really seen in the beginning of Phantom Menace when Qui-gon and Obi-wan flee from the tripod droids that roll up and have their own energy shield. But the jump is not actually new, Luke does it in Empire Strikes back, when Darth Vader knocks him into the freezing chamber they used on Han. It's how he suddenly ends up in the wires and tubing up above it, you can see him do it in the background when Vader turns and activates the chamber. And I say all of this because it's directly related to how Yoda has those moves but then walks slowly with a cane. He has gotten so tuned to the force over his ~900 years that the he is sort of able to lift and flip himself around by channeling the force through him. The reason why Dooku drops that pillar at Obi-wan and Anakin is because he realizes he still can't win, but knows that Yoda can't really move himself around with the force at the same time as having to save them. And for people asking why he doesn't just use the force to move his lightsaber like a puppeteer... Same problem, and not much of a difference. Plus, potential that the Jedi predictive reflexes involved might not be as sharp while controlling an object at a distance, rather than feeling it in hand. Plus... Well, it's Star Wars, Lucas just made these choices. Lol

45:47 That's because of his age,he's well over 800 years old and is still saddled with the weaknesses that come with advanced age just like everyone else, he's able to move like that because his connection to the force is so great and was basically using an amped version of force augmentation known as force valour, for his lightsaber form he took Ataru or form 4 to its highest degree to compensate for his short stature and limited reach but does have complete mastery over every form of lightsaber combat, even the highly unpredictable and aggressive form 7 or Juyo, but because form 4 is such an aggressive and acrobatic style nobody can maintain it for very long, even Yoda for as powerful as he is after just minutes of using that style against Dooku he would be left absolutely exhausted as you could see when Yoda strolled off using his cane, this form is what Qui Gon Jinn and Obi Wan Kenobi used against Maul in TPM and Qui Gon,interestingly used Ataru and tempered it with elements of Makashi and made it more strength based to compensate for his advanced age,Obi Wan on the other hand, chose to start specialising in form 3 Soresu after discovering the inherent weaknesses of form 4,that being ineffective in inclosed spaces, its lack of defence and the amount of effort and energy it consumes,oh and after witnessing Qui Gon's death

And Anakin takes his first steps towards the Dark Side with the death of his mother in this one. Hayden Christensen does a great job showing the anger in his eyes during that scene.

To answer your question about in what order you should watch the rest, I do honestly think that it still is best to go in release order. Because the series and newer movies that take place in the past tend to retcon some stuff. So imo, it would make watching in a chronological order a bit more confusing for a first time watcher. But hey, just my opinion tho. Really nice to see someone reacting to these movies in such a well thought out manner. Most people just bash on Hayden for portraying Anakin like he did, but you brought up exactly all the emotional baggage the character is carrying to justify his behaviors. Yes you are absolutely correct the clones wars animated show (which is amazing btw) takes place between attack of the clones and revenge of the sith.
You get a few flashbacks to before the clone wars and the show ends slightly after the events of revenge of the sith
42:20 I mean yes the force can make you more adept as a leader but to have a distinct force power for strategy isn’t in the films.
Now in the knights of the old republic game (best sw game btw) there is a Jedi called Bastila that has a unique force ability called battle meditation.
This basically allows her to link the minds of all her allies on the battlefield to make sure they fight at peak efficiency. Making her presence enough to bring a sure lose situation to a victory.
Now with how story wars is you basically have 3 versions of the lore.
Cannon: which is basically the films, tv shows and animated shows.
Legends: which is more or less the deep dive books lore. A lot of the old republic lore and characters aren’t apart of the cannon so essentially never happened in cannon yet
Games: essentially the middle ground between the 2. Although most are not cannon at all they take aspects of both cannon and legends to craft their story.
Now they have slowly been bringing non-cannon ideas into cannon mostly due to the fanbase’s popularity of the idea or character. This happened with the animated clone wars series. It started as a separate version of the films to fill in the gaps between attack of the clones and revenge of the sith with its major difference being the creation of ahsoka the padawan of anakin. But as the popularity of the show grow they eventually converted it all to cannon, so that’s why we now have ahsoka in live action and Ezra, Hera, and Sabine from sw rebels in as well.
Now game lore converting to cannon is a whole different boat. Not much at all has been converted over mostly due with how characters from the games are just way too powerful to fit into the cannon universe.
I can only really name one that has been made cannon and that is Cal Kestis and his master Jaro Tapal, Cal being the protagonist of the Jedi fallen order games.
Another really popular character that fans want added in one way or another is Galen Marek or starkiller darth Vader’s secret apprentice. But the problem with adding him is that starkiller is meant to be an absolute power trip the dude is literally the most powerful force user in his universe.
Finding and killing multiple Jedi, vaporizing stormtroopers with the force, pulling a Star destroyer out of orbit, defeating darth Vader and the emperor, defeating and causing Luke to turn to the dark side the man has done it all so including him would at full power would completely break the cannon.
I will say I would still like some kind of call out for the character even if they have to downgrade him just for his actors sake. Sam Witwer is the face and voice of starkiller and is a Star Wars Superfan hell he’s went as far as out geeking the creator of the force unleashed games and calling out story inaccuracies while voicing for the cw series that’s one of the big reasons why they love bringing the guy in. Not only did he do starkiller but he also
Voice the emperor in force unleashed AND in rebels for a time. As well as voicing and bring a new life to Darth Maul in the cw and rebels.
Well this has been my Ted talk 😂
Just love discussing lore for this franchise 😅
