Silli is a Kurmi-dominated area, the number of people with the Mahto title here is more than 34 percent. Munda is 11 percent and Muslims are only 6 percent. Lohar, Bedia, Manjhi and Oraon are also here in the number of 2 to 3 percent. The population of Dalits is close to 7 percent and the total tribals are 31 percent. That is, it is the Kurmi and tribal communities who have considerable influence in Silli. However, the Kurmi voters have always decided the victory or defeat on this seat. Sudesh Mahto is a Kudmi, and apart from AJSU, Kudmis have been voting for JMM. That is why so far, there has been a fight between these two parties from here. But this time the equation can be a little different. The party JLKM, that is, Jairam Mahto's party, which has emerged as an option for the Kudmis, will definitely field its candidate from Silli this time. And there should be no hesitation in saying that more or less, but their influence will remain here. If Jairam chooses the right candidate, then the contest here can be triangular. Whereas in the history of Jharkhand, a triangular contest has happened here only once in 2005, when Sanjay Kumar of CPI(M) came third by getting 13 thousand 700 votes and Sudesh Mahto won.
It is clear that this time three Kudmi candidates will stand from Silli, all three parties will be such, whose vote bank is Kudmi. In such a situation, it is really difficult to say who will win. If the Kudmi vote is equally divided, which is unlikely, then it will become important who the 31 percent tribals and 6 percent will vote for. The tribals of Silli are traditionally voters of JMM and this time the Muslims can vote for JMM as well as Jairam. Overall, the matter here is interesting, anything can happen. Sudesh Mahato should not be too confident about his victory. In the coming days, we will discuss the changing situation of Silli in more detail.
Moving ahead, let's talk about Dumri. Dumri seat is even more interesting than Silli. Jairam Mahato has announced that one of the two seats from which he will contest the election will be Dumri. Dumri has a history that from 1980 till date, BJP has never won here, nor has AJSU ever won. However, AJSU has been the second largest party in the 2019 and 2023 by-elections. This shows that JMM has cadre voters here. Especially from 2005 to 2019, Jagarnath Mahato kept winning from here continuously, he strengthened the foothold of JMM in this area and when the BJP government was formed here in 2014 amid the strong Modi wave, he defeated BJP's Lalchand Mahato by 32 thousand votes. However, after Corona, he died due to prolonged illness, after which his wife Baby Devi became MLA from here and minister in the government.
डुमरी सीट सिल्ली से भी अधिक दिलचस्प है। जयराम महतो ने यह ऐलान किया है कि वे जिन दो सीटों से चुनाव लड़ेंगे, उनमें से एक डुमरी भी होगी। डुमरी का इतिहास रहा है कि यहां 1980 से लेकर आज तक भाजपा कभी नहीं जीती है, न कभी आजसू जीत पाई है। हालांकि 2019 और 2023 के उपचुनाव में आजसू दूसरे नंबर की पार्टी रही है। इससे यह समझ आता है कि यहां झामुमो के कैडर वोटर हैं। विशेषकर 2005 से लेकर 2019 तक लगातार यहां से जगरनाथ महतो जीतते आए, उन्होंने इस क्षेत्र में झामुमो की पैठ को मजबूत किया और प्रचंड मोदी लहर के बीच जब यहां 2014 में भाजपा की सरकार बनी, तब भी उन्होंने भाजपा के लालचंद महतो को 32 हजार वोट से हराया था।
