An older brother will do anything to protect his younger sister.
Yoo Jin Kook (Park Sung Woong) is a veteran homicide detective who is getting weary of his job. The only light in his life is his younger sister, Yoo Jin Kang (Jung So Min). He dotes on her and is protective of her like a father figure ever since they lost their parents.
When Jin Kook starts investigating a suicide of a university student, he can’t help but feel that the dead student’s boyfriend, Kim Moo Young (Seo In Guk), may have been responsible for her death.
Moo Young seems like a nice guy who works at a Korean beer microbrewery, but there seems to be a dark side to him. When Moo Young meets Jin Kang and the two begin to develop a relationship, Jin Kook is determined to stop it. But can Jin Kook protect Jin Kang when she needs it the most?
“The Smile Has Left Your Eyes” is a 2018 South Korean drama series directed by Yoo Je Won. It is a remake of a 2002 Japanese drama series with the same title.

In the original Japanese one they are but they changed that for the k drama version
I find it very poetic (and terribly tragic, of course) that jin kang used her back to shield moo young just as moo young had done for her all those years ago when they were children, when the hot water had spilled on them. It comes full circle for them, and shows just how much both would sacrifice for the other, then and now.

Even though death is their ending I will still re-watch it because I love this drama so much. It is by far one of my absolute favorite dramas. It is so sad yet so beautiful.

live isn't all sunshines and rainbows...not everyone with a tragic childhood ends up happy, karma sometimes happens to those who least deserve it
@@R4e0fsunshine This is was a comment before I started watching now that I did lemme just say, that is what happens in real life, everyone lives already sucks at the very least when I'm watching a romantic drama it would be good not to be this tragic, I can't even say is a beautiful tragic like Titanic or something like that lol. Not to mention how they lost so many things in the plot **spoiler alert** initially it was about that girl who got murdered and he was involved. But then the female lead best friend kinda died because of him, but now she likes him, her dead bestfriend ex! And this girly who were playing smart now insists she's the one who can "fix" him, which is stupid, I hate stories about women having to fix men with their problematic behavior for "love". I also hate how they put these "siblings" thingy too like you're sleeping with your own sister, tf? Kills everything there's left for the audience to see as romance like I won't be shipping freaking incest lmao anyway I just don't like the plot, is terrible.
@@chudawonn i heard it was based on a book where they were actually siblings. I was actually satisfied that they died together, if he would have killed himself or went to prison, she would have been miserable and unable to move on. So in a way it is a happy ending.

Well, i know that now I'm gonna need lots of time to get over this drama but it will forever be in my heart, don't wanna sound cliche but it taught me something and as much as i hate that they died, everything was well written. I love their chemistry and everything was so beautiful and different. I will forever love this drama and have respect for it. Actors nailed their roles, but for me they weren't acting, they were living another persons lives and gave us something sooo special . Thank you.

The fact that the story/pain started at this house and the story/pain ended at this house is just so sad. Nonetheless, it's a beautifully tragic story.
Sad ending but this show is hands down the best drama I have ever watched. The acting by the leads are superior. The plot takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that i never wanted to end. This show deserves all the awards out there. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

@@SF-pj6xv Kill me heal me is really good. But in that one the male lead was shining. He did an awesome job with all his characters. She was so-so. I actually can't even remember who the actress was. In this one the chemistry was perfect. Both actors did a wonderful job. Same with the actor who played her brother. In this drama you had no idea what would happen next. In Kill me, heal me I figured out early on who the little girl was.
Fairytaledragon I loved the main girl in kill me,heal she was on secret with him too that have so much chemistry.
I know this scene makes me cry but I still rewatch it. Especially the scene of Moo Young writing the letter. One of my favorite kdramas of 2018.💖
He got shot in the upper shoulder but died before her who was shot in the back! This frustrates me!
You know it actually looks like he was shot somewhere in the chest which would indicate that he got shot in the lungs which would mean he would die faster than she who got shot in the back maybe hitting the spine or not lodging in as deep. ( just trying to ease your frustration 😁)
He was also standing diagonally from the line of fire so the bullet may have past through his lungs.
The initial shot at 0:46 it was upper shoulder but at close up at 1:02 the bullet entry was mid chest. If they stuck to the initial shot, KMY would've lived.

On of the best drama I've ever watched. Such a good acting and an insanely emotional story that pulls you in and than rips your heart. Yes, it's a tragic ending but it was also the best ending for the two characters.
I just finished the drama, I'm at peace with the ending but I cried as well.
I cried my eyes out. Somehow I knew they both had to live or die, but together. I couldn't believe it when they were shot. I cried and cried and cried, but you know what? I love plot twists and unpredictable endings, this ending was superb.
I finished the drama yesterday and I had to come back and watch the scene because I couldn't take it in. Hands down the best drama, the plot was fascinating- all the characters fit into the "fucked up" narrative, except Jin Kang since she was the only one able to make Moo Yeung turn back to "human". The acting was incredible, the emotion and heaviness of the plot just leaves you on the edge in each episode. And although I'm scarred by the ending I also love it because their journey ended in the same place where it all started, and I've never been this impacted by a Kdrama ending.

It was really a good drama but I can't stop thinking about it,about pain that her brother will feel for the rest of his life ,also I feel sooo bad when I think so happy they were recently.. It is soo hard to forget what happened and it's the worst feeling if think as a story in real life . I have goosebumps every time I think so.

He could open his heart only for her...from childhood till now. He only loves her....they were soulmates. Despite everything this is a "beautiful" ending for them.
Both can't live without each other. I cried a lot especially from episode 15 (when he was thinking that she was his sister) till the end.

This ending is tragic, yes, but it's also fitting. These two were all each other had when they were little and they spent their whole lives searching for each other even though they couldn't remember. It's just a tragic story of two souls who love each other.

This drama was on my watchlist for a few years but I finally watched it and finished it about an hour ago. I already knew they would die but I still wasn't ready for it. I kept thinking how she said she would die without him and then he actually ends up dying before her and then she follows him. I'm hurt, but I don't regret watching it.

this is such a tragic ending and one that will always hurt my heart and make me cry if i think abt it too long but boy am i so glad that they made these two characters NOT siblings in the Kor version (unlike the Japanese version) if they had stuck with the original, the ending still would've been painful but it would've just felt weirder and would've left this gigantic ball of uncomfort in my stomach, so hooray to the fact that they arent siblings!!
