    I find it hard to consider Ruud a serious contender here. He was playing much better last year, and benefited from upsets in not really having to play anybody impressive until he ran into the Alcaraz buzzsaw. Meanwhile, there's a lot of players who, while lacking the consistent quality of Ruud, have the potential to beat him without needing him to have a "bad day" - both Wolf and Zhang are this type, so the second round is a potential landmine, Korda at his best matches up well, while I'd expect any of Tiafoe, Paul, and a healthy Rune to beat him at current levels of play.

      Rybakina should be able to beat Kostyuk but the toughest opponent in her quarter should be Muchova. Last year before US Open Iga had worse results than she’s been having now so I really wouldn’t count her out too soon. Her worst result this year was round of 16 at AO, besides that she made at least quarterfinal of each tournament she entered. She improved her Wimbledon result, won at French Open, reached semifinal of both Montreal and Cincinnati. She’s the only WTA player now with over 50 wins this season. It’s also more wins that she had before US Open last year. Just because she lost to Gauff and Pegula lately (both top 10 players) does not mean she’s suddenly playing terrible. Sure, other players has been improving - which is great! But Iga still has a solid chance at winning the title, especially since she’s proven that she can handle the pressure of title defence

    • @Quotes4ulife
      @Quotes4ulife 11 месяцев назад

      @@saram3152 : I understand what you mean but body language is very important. Martina Navratilova suggested Iga should skip this tournament as Martina doesn't believe she is going to win. Iga has not played optimally as her opponents have drastically improved. I am also an Iga fan. You are looking at her form 2 years ago but her form two weeks ago is decisive. For example, do you think Elena is going to make it with a bandage taped over her shoulder? Of course, miracles do happen with Emma Raducanu suddenly becoming the Grandslam champion. Peace!

    • @saram3152
      @saram3152 11 месяцев назад +2

      With all due respect, making semifinals of two WTA 1000 tournaments back to back, losing only to top 10 players is not a bad result at all. I have been looking at her recent form, she’s done better at those tournaments than she did the year before. She’s not playing perfectly but it’s not like she’s been playing terrible either. I am not saying she’s like guaranteed to win, she’s obviously not BUT it’s just unfair to count her out this early. Martina is of course a legend but her opinion is just an opinion, it doesn’t have to translate to an actual result at the tournament. We also have to take into account that Iga’s pretty motivated to do well in New York and she’s proven she can do great if she puts her mind to it. Of course there are other players who have a fair chance at winning the tittle as well but I believe that we shouldn’t count any of the top players out before the tournament even starts…

I don't mind upset victories - nice to see the underdogs come off that court with a great win! Makes sports events more exciting! Being an athlete myself, I've always believed that on any given day - anyone can win! I'm looking forward to some great matches and hope the best or both the females and the male tennis players to all do well & have fun & enjoy the whole huge event! @@rnsw4572 : Past tennis History doesn't play the game but one's current form. Coco is in the best form of her life and she looks more motivated compared to Iga. Elena has not fully recovered and she is gonna quit again. Sabalenka's power and grunts won't do.

    Djokovic will go further than Alcaraz and wins 🏆. Sabalenka will go further than Swiatek and 🏆. Sinner will go further than Medvedev. Would love to see Lehecka go far, but he might be tired after playing this week. Pegula losing to Keys. Rybakina, unfortunately might not go far because of her shoulder
