I never knew this version existed. I just happened to be listening to a radio station that plays indie songs on sundays. So here it is Mother's Day 2024 I hear this amazing version of this song and it's a lot better than Paul Simon's❤

So beautiful! I also loved seeing a couple pics from the Red Ants Pants music festival; I remember seeing these ladies there for the first time. An amazing experience! 💖

But this song is from the Dixie Hummingbirds gospel group decades before Paul Simon found it!!!!!

Every place I look, Paul Simon is credited with writing this song, and many sites do state the Dixie Hummingbirds recorded it AFTER doing backing vocals on Simon's original recording.

From Wikipedia: "Loves Me Like a Rock" is a song by the American singer-songwriter Paul Simon. It was the second single from his third studio album, There Goes Rhymin' Simon (1973), released on Columbia Records. It features background vocals from the Dixie Hummingbirds, a Southern black gospel group. Although the lyrics are not typically associated with gospel music, the Dixie Hummingbirds were eager to record the song with Simon, and they recorded their own version soon after for their 1973 album We Love You Like a Rock/Every Day and Every Hour.[2][3]"
