According to historian, and Eastern Front Aficionado, David Glantz, the Soviets suffered an estimated 27,000,000 military personnel in that war. And that is a rough estimate; that total is likely higher, given that, Glantz stated that a Soviet rifle division, marching in to Stalingrad could easily lose twice what the U.S. suffered in both Iraq wars and Afghanistan, COMBINED! The Soviets also lost close to 2000,000 in the battles of the Rzhev salient from December, 1941 - March, 1943.
@@Sintonizarproductions I love your films. You guys do a much better job than the modern-day trash Hollywood puts out. I have read lots of books about the Eastern Front of WWII, and I've developed a great respect for the WWII German Soldier.
This short war film shows the mindless slaughter of men for no reason. However, I would hardly call any one scene a battle. It was rather a series of skirmishes at squad level. Russian snipers were not eradicated, and so were free to cause further damage. Most of these were Russian versus German. The last encounter was with a wounded American soldier who was saved from shooting by a German, by a second German who shot the first German. You don't turn on your own side. This I do not like to see. Tactically, it was a complete shambles. It was unclear what the purpose of the Germans was. Was this a defensive operation or offensive? This may have been a fighting patrol which ran into more trouble than anticipated. But it was unclear. Some good individual action scenes.
Thanks. This was some of our older work. We definitely weren't very good at tactics, or historical accuracy. We've updated our uniforms, tactics, storytelling, and cinematography since then.
