Loena Hendrickx had a disappointing free skate at the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal. Despite leading after the short program with a career-best score of 76.98, she struggled in the free skate, scoring only 123.27 points and finishing 8th in that segment.[3][4] This dropped her to 4th place overall with a total score of 200.25, missing out on a medal.[4]
Hendrickx cited a lack of physical form and confidence as reasons for her subpar free skate performance.[4] She mentioned not doing a full free skate run-through after the European Championships due to recovery and injury, which likely impacted her preparation.[4] The pressure of being in the lead after the short program was also a new experience for her that she couldn't handle well.[4] Despite the disappointing result, Hendrickx remained proud of leading after the short program, as she wasn't sure she would even make it to the competition due to her injury concerns.
