    You know a story I love. It's ringing the changes. I always remember the samurai suit in the hall. Has for dracula this is how I'd deal with dracula. I'd drop some blood on a block of wood. And let drac sink his fangs into the block. Then ring up the pest controller to get him removed

Keep doing what your doing!! Sometimes I go to sleep w the rain stories and then the longer ones or ones w chapters I listen to while I sew or float in the pool. I pay for RUclips and buy coffees etc so I don't hear the ads , so if people have an issue with ads then there are options so they don't have too. You are doing AWESOME ❤!! A solid anthology could be made about rooms designed for the murder of guests by criminals/gangs. "The Mystery of the Circular Chamber" by L. T. Meade & Robert Eustace (1898) is a case in point. So in its way is "A Night on the Borders Borders of the Black Forest," where travelers are robbed and murdered.
    Murder for purposes of theft by innkeepers and proprietors also has a place in frontier folklore from Scotland to North America, where capital accumulation was initially difficult without resort to theft.

    Ok, I've heard this story before, and - maybe I'm just stupid - but I don't understand the crime. The mark wins all the gambling house's money, then the owner of the house plans to kill him and steal his own money back. Wouldn't the crime be more profitable if he stole money the guy had carried in from elsewhere?

    • @KristinChoruby
      @KristinChoruby Год назад +3

      I think most of their profit came from the gamblers who lost, and killing to steal back the "bank" just prevented catastrophic losses? 🤷‍♀ Or this is just further evidence that cunning and intelligence are not necessarily the same thing.

    • @rebeccawoolfolk5377

    • @KristinChoruby

      @@rebeccawoolfolk5377 My guess is that gambling establishments have to let people win at least some of the time, or word gets around and they lose customers (plus, intermittent reinforcement is a powerful incentive). The killer bed is definitely crazy elaborate, though--honestly, it's entire reason for existence is probably just to write an entertaining story! 😆 Then again, people would probably have said that H. H. Holmes's murder hotel was overly elaborate, but he made it anyway.

      @@ClassicGhost oh that’s sooo exciting! My mom got her first puppy two years ago from my grandpa (who just past); it was her “free of cancer” gift (after a couple ablation surgeries the previous years). It was in time for my grandpa to witness the gift & share in little EMMIE’z AMAZINGNESS!
      It’s my mom’s first, personally familiar animal (besides M.E. of course) and oh she was a dear as a little one. Those TWO GO EVERYWHERE together; they are two peas in a pod! And they are SOOO ADORABLE together! EMMIE following my mom is sooo cute! (She’s only ever gonna be 6lbs. So she’s little.
      (I’m sorry you haven’t been able to get everyone onboard for a cat yet, but you NEVER KNOW…two dogs might just LOVE on a baby kitty from the get go. (And just to let Shelia know, I’ve never had a cat whose gone after the furniture who has access to: 1. a TALL- carpeted “CAT Stand- these usually come with areas to climb & get their nails down; 2. Selections of cardboard scratching posts (offered from get go); 3. Places they can jump up to without having to bump or “claw” upto UNLESS SPECIFICALLY (like the cat tower, for them. Also, IF you go with indoor/outdoor, they automatically have walkways, dirt, trees, & things to help keep their claws “in check”. Which leads me to my last & final insight: cats NEED to have their nails trimmed (NEVER DE-claw) and it’s as simple as playing with their paws from a young age, very thoughtfully (petting their fur on the top, touching their soft, puffy pads) & then just trimming the sharp ends of each nail (NEED ONLY DO THE FRONT REALLY, unless their back claws angle in, which generally they go out straight- but are also easy to clip if needed; it’s best to check because the nails can turn in on themselves & go into there pads!!! OUCH! That’s THE WHY of any “furniture clawing”.) I personally, use just the kid sized finger nail clippers, as they are sharper & you just cut the TIP of the NAIL ONLY.
      Since you are having two dogs you WILL BE UNDERSTANDING the nail clipping (unless you plan to pay out for grooming as sometimes is easier if you don’t feel comfortable doing so… BUT REMEMBER, TOUCHING the puppies paws in a soft & usual schedule will help them feel less stressed when it comes time to GROOM.
      Anyway…it’s just a thought…you know…their are WRITERS (famous ones) who SWEAR BY their cats contribution to the writing process.
      For me, I’ve had rescues (currently) & from kitten & both provide a WHOLE DIFFERENT KIND OF QUIETUDE & SOFT PETTING on your lap & around your space…I can not compliment the addition of a cat/kitten into the home (if & when you might, could be, all on board for it).
      Bless your new animal journey & enjoy the added walks & play outside…it’s a TRUE BLESSING ESPECIALLY as you get closer to retirement…& maybe even a cat at some later date when all is clan & there is more room & trust for a kitten to become a cat while maintaining ALL levels of your furniture. (Only a spray water bottle to squirt the kitten away from what you don’t want it to do will work WONDERS in defining “accepted” house behavior…anyway. Very excited for you all!

I have gorgeous lace curtains and fragile lace pieces. I will never see them again. I have a rescued dog. He was happy to snuggle with them until the male scratched his eye.
      They also bring their prey into house, some dead, some still alive to be tortured until they are finally put out of their terror and pain..
      I've had many cats in my life who've not been so destructive, but these two are demons.
