@ellisonjay How do YOU tell when you see "real martial power" in a solo form like this? Just curious -cause we seem to see different things. No disrespect to Master Yang here, he's older now, and probably much better. Just feel we should try to look beyond family names and lineage, to see what skills are really on display.

@ellisonjay Thanx for your perspective. I too love Chen pao chui, though they too are sometimes performed badly. But I dont see Yang's body mechanics resembling that any more so than any other yang taiji player.. What do you mean by "too loose"? Recall small frame players Cheng Man Ching and Huang Sheng Shyan -two of the best fighters and martial artists of the 20th century. Would you characterize their taiji as limp and terrible too?

Is this from the Yang Family demonstration DVD or from the Instruction DVD? I want to order the 190 minutes instruction DVD... is it good?

All long form taichi's are for self-healing and growing more cells with normal DNAs in brains, internal organs, and all tissues. If you do it as slow as he is, you'll live over 100 years old with a very sharp mind. If you only do all the fast moving short forms, it will not be easy to live beyond 80 unless you have good health or good genes. Averaged people don't need martial arts.

Actually, the short forms can also be done slowly to achieve maximum health benefits. Those performing for competition have to keep it under 6 minutes but personally, I don't think we need to follow that guideline if we just want to practise Tai Chi for health.
