    Uugghh if it wasn't 4 not being able 2 do park hopping until 2 then this would definitely b the perfect time 2 complete the challenge. The masks & social distancing must b a crazy difference... definitely not looking forward 2 the florida heat with a mask lol. It was great 2 c u guys out there again & getting a bit of a look@ the park. Just can't wait until things r back 2 normal...happy birthday again Aaron lol. Catch u guys in the next 1✌🏻🤙🏻

      Oh I know!! There's a ton of differences and new obstacles that we have to face now, but that's what makes this challenge fun, exciting, and unique every single time we do it!! Nothing's going to stop us from attempting (and eventually completing!) the Parkeology Challenge, but I do look forward to things going back to normal again. For the time being, my biggest recommendation for masks in the theme parks is to take frequent short breaks! Find secluded areas in the parks to isolate yourselves and rehydrate and refuel before getting back into the fun! Thanks for watching! 🤙🏻

      @@thatguyRyan oh u guys r definitely gonna complete it!!! I mean it seems like u have had some really solid attempts & great strategies. Then ride closures or something along those lines kills it. U guys seem like u really want it tho...so I'm sure it's only a matter of time. 🤣😂Yeah I have a feeling I'm gonna b taking quite a few breaks 2 rehydrate & get some air without the mask. Coming from the cold of Massachusetts it's gonna take a bit 2 get myself re-acclimated 2 the Florida heat lol. So I'll absolutely b taking ur advice there... keep up the great work out there✌🏻🤙🏻

    I am now doing my parkeology practice today, with 12 rides open. I will figure out how I should get the five big ones off the list. My official run (in HK Disneyland) is on 12th July, with 16 rides open.
    Getting one US resort complete is almost impossible in covid times, but it is possible for the HK version. I will go for it, and say that "at least someone completed Parkeology" in covid times!
    If I managed to complete today, I will register my run. 12 rides and a lot of 5 min wait times (as of now, 10 of the rides have 5 min wait times) give me favourable conditions, despite just 4.5 hours of park time.

      Oh my gosh I can't believe I didn't see your comment until just now! How did the run go on July 12th in Hong Kong??? My dream is to, not only visit every Disney park in the world, but also to complete the Parkeology Challenge in every Disney park in the world! 🤞🏻🤙🏻
      We're looking to schedule our next WDW run sometime soon, but we'd like for the Covid policies (such as park reservations and park hopping restrictions) to disappear first if possible because you're absolutely right: Covid times makes the US challenge almost impossible....Thanks so much for watching!

    I am now scheduling my attempt for December, after the finals, if I cannot get one by the start of term.
    I am now having another practice run today, and Hyperspace had a 30min queue even on a weekday. Iron Man was at 35, and Ant Man at 30. Green Army was at 30 too. It's a small world had 20. Mystic manor had 30. But they still lost to RC Racer, which had the longest queue at 40.
    If my university finals end before most schools break up for Christmas, I will have a run on a weekday then as it will not be too crowded until 2pm, or else I have to rush to get the big ones off the list during rope drop at 10:30!

    • @thatguyRyan
      @thatguyRyan  2 года назад

      I'm glad you've been able to do a few practice runs to get the feel for it! I think it's smart to do it on a weekday before most schools let out for break, if possible, to take advantage of (hopefully) minimal crowds. I'll be rooting for you in December! Feel free to tag me in your run on Twitter @thatguyRyan97 so I remember to follow along! 🤙🏻

      @@thatguyRyan My run is now confirmed to happen on 14th December, as my last exam is on the 13th. There are 9 hours of park time and 15 rides, so it should be easy!
      My order:
      1-3. Hyperspace/Iron Man/Ant Man
      4. Orbition
      5. Jungle cruise
      6. Grizzly mountain
      7. Mystic manor
      8-9. Green Army/RC Racer
      10. Slinky
      11-15. Carousel/Dumbo/Pooh/Teacups/It's a small world
      I'll let the big ones all go first. If possible, I will put Pooh last, as the Hooray cheer of the attraction shows my success in Parkeology!

      @@thatguyRyan checked the HKDL app these 2 days (yesterday at around 5pm, today at 2pm) and found that Dumbo was posting 30. This should definitely be knocked out first. What a shock for this to happen.
      By the way, I have decided that my commute to the park would be done on the MTR, with two changes along the way, including the change to the train with the Mickey windows at Sunny Bay station. The rope drop is at 10:30am for now, so I can expect to be at the park by 10am.
      But I will do on the 15th instead as the park is closed on the 14th. HKDL is still opening for 5 days per week.

    i doubt a complete wdw4[?] would be possible until rise switches to a regular queue [and adds fastpasses] which probably won't even be until after tron opens, and the parks are open for such a short time now and aren't offering fastpasses...

    • @thatguyRyan
      @thatguyRyan  3 года назад +1

      I agree. There's a lot working against challenge runners at the moment due to COVID procedures (shorter park hours, park hop restrictions, lack of fastpasses, etc.), but, if anything, it's good practice until things start to go back to normal. The boarding group system for Rise is a whole new factor that can literally make or break a run. It's stressful for sure, but also an exciting and unpredictable extra challenge, and we will continue to work around it until Disney modifies the structure for experiencing Rise.

    Yo dude a while back I did an unofficial run at Disneyland California and was only 6 rides away at closing I plan on doing an official run at Disneyland California once it reopens any tips for my first official run?

    • @thatguyRyan
      @thatguyRyan  3 года назад +1

      That's pretty amazing for a first practice run!! To be honest I have never done a run at Disneyland, so I don't know all of the nuances, details, and park systems that accompany a challenge on the west coast, but I do have a few general tips that might help you overall:
      1. Do your research (just like you're doing!) Watch videos of other people doing the challenge, and borrow elements of their run that were successful while also making note of things that you would do differently from them. Make a rough idea of your plan, route, and park hops ahead of time and practice various segments of that plan in the parks (see my practice run and Parkeology Challenge prep videos if you would like examples)!
      2. Monitor the wait times on the Disney app from home before your run! Identify the attractions whose wait times get the highest the fastest so that you know to hit those first (usually E-Ticket rides) while leaving the "easier" rides for the middle of the afternoon.
      3. Make back up plans! The reality of this challenge is that you cannot plan for everything. Attractions go down, wait times fluctuate, inclement weather comes in. Know what you're going to do, but also know what you WOULD do "just in case".
      4. Bring snacks, and find ways to stay hydrated. The eating and drinking policies are going to be different in the parks once Disneyland reopens, but it is critical that you find ways to continue fueling yourself because this will be a long and exhausting (but also incredibly fun) day. Here at Disney World, we usually use the car rides during park hops to refuel, but I know you don't really need to drive to do your park hops...
      5. Train before you go. Practice stretching and going for runs around your neighborhood or even around Disney areas to build up your stamina and endurance. This challenge is tough and if you're serious about finishing it, you're going to need to maintain high levels of energy throughout the entire day.
      I hope these few tips help! I'll try to do a full video (or interactive live stream) on Parkeology Challenge tips/tricks/FAQs sometime soon! But until then, let me know if there's anything else I can help you with! Good luck, and hang loose!

      @@thatguyRyan Thanks so much dude I have been planing but I never thought to check the waits at home.In my first run we made a few silly mistakes that cost us the run but I am semi confident this time! But one problem I am currently having is I tried to email one of the founders to ask questions on rules when it comes to Covid and rides closed due to Covid and much more but I have not heard back I might email the other founder soon what other ways would you recommend getting in contact with them?

    • @thatguyRyan
      @thatguyRyan  3 года назад

      You got it! We've also had very small things, both positive and negative, end up making huge impacts at the end of nearly all of our runs due to the butterfly effect. As for reaching out to Parkeology, if they haven't responded to your email, you could try posting your question to Twitter and tagging them in it. Doing so might also expose your questions to other Disneyland Parkeology runners, and they might be able to help get you some answers as well!
