Great find. Im a huge, vintage Ludwig fan. I own two. Something about this era of drums makes them special even without having ties to Ringo.

    I remember that commercial.
It was for stuffed crust pizza.

Ringo, during his black oyster pearl LUDWIG days, never used a cymbal attached to the bass drum..

Yes, but this is the set he used in the pizza hut ad.

Keith moon was so weird and good, that he’s a good drummer to geek over. Lol😂

I agree Ringo is by far the most influential drummer ever but I think the next tier would be Bonham and Krupa.

Ringo used that kit in the pizza hut commercial with The Monkees

I've read that Ivor Arbiter was the one who sold Ringo his 1st Ludwig kit, that he came up with the Beatles drop T logo. Was he the one who initially covered up the Ludwig logo on that particular kit you mentioned?

Probably, there are many versions of that story. It was Ivor Arbitor who sold the set and came up with the drop T logo. It's likely he was also the one who was going to remove the Ludwig logo but at this point it's anyone's guess.

Hey Mr. Bennett! I was going to get ahold of you awhile back to ask a question, unfortunately I was too late but I still wonder how much I missed out. I found a Ringo spec snare in gold sparkle I believe it was online for a decent price. It wasn’t quite 5 1/2 I think it was 5 1/4 or something weird. I’m not sure how legit the add was obviously, but from the pictures it looked real. All the hardware looked period correct. I can’t remember the price if it was only a couple hundred dollars but it wasn’t much more than that. Just wondering, are all Ringo spec snares valuable? Or does it need the correct wrap?

Ryan, Good question. Any color Ringo Spec snare will be worth somewhat more than an equivalent non-Ringo Spec snare. Only Black Oyster and to a lesser degree Blue Oysters are with a LOT more in the Ringo Spec configuration. If the drum you saw was only around a couple hundred bucks it was probably a really good price. I hope that helps. Donn

@@DonnsDrumVaultOfficial Thanks man!! I’m a huge fan by the way, I can’t believe they ripped part of the logo on this kit during the commercial! Thanks for all of your great videos, I hope I can see your collection in person someday, especially Buddy Rich gear.

Bernard Purdie recorded some early Beatles. Hard to say exactly which tracks, but G. Martin called him.
