    1 year later since this video and with Sears closing, Golf Mill is now officially dying.

    I use to visit this mall everyday after school back in middle school but since I moved out that area of Niles, It turned into a horrible, dysfunctional, depressing, and dead mall.

    This mall is really depressing to be in. It was fun a while back, after eating at Los Comales, it was a fun stop to visit. Now it sucks. The arcade was the only cool part and most of the shops are trash. Now after eating i'd rather go to the HIP.

      Yeah but even the Hip is junk a few stores are good but no where like it was in the 90's

    Looks like this mall is right at the tipping point of becoming a deadmall. The part that was remodeled is very bland indeed, they stripped away the vintage design of the old mall. Thanks for the tour.

    I have only been here maybe once, given I live in the Western Suburbs, but with all of the malls that surround it, it could go dead, but be redeveloped. I recently toured the Lincolnwood Mall as part of my Carson's tour, and that mall could potentially be a dead mall. There are some empty spaces. The small, locally owned stores depend of walk by traffic and if all of the national chains are gone, there is no foot traffic and that just exasperates the problem.

    The mall brings back a lot of nostalgia. Hoping maybe new owners come in after the pandemic ends and revitalizes it. Fond memories of Golf Mill and the old Brick Yard.

    This Mall Is Pretty Much Now A Dying Mall: Only Target AMC And JCPenney As The Anchors. About 20 Chain Stores (Value City Furniture Ulta Beauty Ross Etc.) A Number Of Vacancies (Ex Sears Ex Kohl’s etc.) Only 5 Restaurants Remaining In The Food Court. It’d Really Break My Heart To See It Demolished One Day

    This place isn't dead yet, but it's close.
    When Sears bites the dust, how will both sides be connected?

      It would be a simple matter for Sterling to have a walking corridor through the closed Sears by using curtains. I’ve seen that done in other shuttered walk-thru anchors. But if Sears or Seritage still owns the building later, Sterling may not be able to do that.

    They need to make it into an outside strip mall. Look at how when they tore down randhurst mall in 08 and renovated to strip mall in 2011. It's like it was reborn again.
    Fun fact: went on a date to golf mill in 2017🤣🤣

    Gonna have to make a trip up there someday. I've always like the tower part of the mall. Is there anyway to get into the tower, or is it just for office workers?

    • @LostDepartments
      @LostDepartments  6 лет назад +4

      Its open to anybody. The entrance is right off the mall corridor.

      That's pretty cool, I'm gonna have to go there sometime and get some pics from the top floor of the tower.

    Great video. I just wanted to comment about JCPenney. 7:42 There are 2 JCPenney stores in my general area and I've been to both about 5 or 6 times in less than a year. Every time I've gone, it's been packed. I mean, not just lookie-loos. Like, I had to wait in line to checkout every time. A couple of times I had to wait on a dressing room bc all of them had lines (female). They looked to be fighting like heck to stay in business. The inventory is good, the prices are great, so there are only 2 things I can think of as to why they're having issues financially: massive bank debt or somebody is stealing. In your video, you said that's a busy JCPenney too. So it's kinda sad that their CEO just bailed on them. I thought they were doing a good job for those of us who do like to go and buy something from a store instead of waiting for days. :D

    • @LostDepartments
      @LostDepartments  6 лет назад +2

      whisperwatch My local Jcpenney also is similar to that picture. However there are many stores that don't match that picture in smaller areas.

    I used to go there a lot when i way little and im sad that its nearly dead, it use to be a great mall but i guess this is what happens when owners neglect the bigger issues and just make temporary fixes.

    If serious were to close which is likely do you think that they would a put a store there be close up the store and just have the walk-through or see close off the entire Sears building and have you walk outside to get to the north wing
