My favorite and only live Tull show was in arizona in the 70s don't remember the date. Thanks for all the new/old shows here. My old laptop just died and this new keyboard is pi**ing me off. Ate two of my comments already. Can we type pi**ing without invoking the stupid wrath of AI? Also, gotta say, sobriety is not helping my computer experience. Being drunk doesn't help, but you (or I) keep believing it will. YMMV Why am I even up at this hour?
Please don't play my God from the Isle of Wight concert. It has been played a million times by every reactor on RUclips. How about Jethro Tull strange Avenues/ steel monkey at Hamilton 1989. That would be something you haven't heard, except for steel monkey, a but it's a very good live recording. there's literally hundreds of others, of just about every concert tour they've ever done.
🎼Man alive! There was nobody like Jethro Tull! There was… and never will be again a frontman like Ian Anderson! He’s 77 years old now along with all the rest of us over 70 who remember those far out and fine musicians back in the day.☮️💟🎼
I really don't know what it was about Tull that drew me to them in the 70's, but watching these live videos now I'd say I made a good choice of a group to become obsessed with.
Maybe it was the flute in the sea of rock music as it was for me. Lol. Hearing mostly on radios back then . Was that a flute I'm hearing😂. I was hooked..
Great reaction as always. I saw some of the great bands of the day...Led Zeppelin, the WHO(!), the Rolling Stones...all known as having great front men. Ian was maybe the best front man I ever had the pleasure of seeing live. Take what you saw here and multiply it by 100, and that's a Jethro Tull concert. And though Ian is the star, the rest of the band are astonishingly great musicians, which you obviously have picked up on. It might have been nice if we saw more of them in this video, but you can't always get what you want!
I think you would enjoy the 4+ minute Barriemore solo in this clip - Jethro Tull - Instrumental - Drum Solo Cross-Eyed Mary Wind Up Back Door Angels - Live 1977. Really shows his talent.
I stood on the first row directly beneath Ian Anderson when they performed way back in the day at around 15 years of age He performed most of it standing on one leg, like a stork.2000 person or so venue, in Orlando Fl.
Wow, thanks for making my day with more Jethro Tull. I never tire of hearing them, such a big part of my coming of age. Wonderful reaction, makes me want to go back and relisten to them all. Blessings and joy to all.
God... I first heard Thick As A Brick in 1972 when I was 14... It blew my mind... How could anyone write that much... But it pushed me to buy A Passion Play next....
Parts of this performance are very close to how they played it on Bursting Out. That's my favorite Tull album, really catches them at a peak time. Richie Blackmore is famous for hating everything. But I recently read in an interview where he admitted to going to see Tull around 4 times per year in the 70's. He loved Ian's music.
Jethro Tull strange Avenues / steel monkey at Hamilton 1989 would be something you haven't heard except for steel monkey and it's a pretty good recording I think you would really like it and it'd be something that hasn't been played to death already
I haven't heard it in decades. I had the album when it came out. Great music. Blown away with his breath control flute playing and singing. Lee the funny story is us 60s 70s teens hearing jethro tull on rock radio station and thinking we were loosing our mind hearing a flute..😮 . It was a first for us ....😂
Listen to The Jethro Tull Christmas Album from 2003, their last official Jethro Tull album until 2023 (although you could say that Thick As A Brick 2 and Homo Erraticus Ian Anderson albums should have been released as Jethro Tull). Sixteen amazing traditional and new songs with great flute and unique arrangements for the traditional songs! I think it is one of their best albums.
imho the best version of Brick and indeed of all Tulldome is Brick, live at Madison Square Garden and a close second is from london. MSG by a nose but the garden version , the jam between ian and Barre is fn aaaamaaazing!
Great stuff. I'm sure you've heard 'My God' if not listen to both the studio version and also live 1970 Isle of Wight is outstanding. Also, he does an unbelievable flute solo in Tampa Bay 1976. By that point he was an excellent player. Grandaddy of beatbox flute. It's 10 min long but a must see. Later..
Not only do you have more Jethro Tull to listen to, but you've still got Martin Barres albums to listen to.There is... "Order of Play", Back to Steel, Away with words" Live in N. Y. " I would suggest starting with order of play that is such a great album and if I could request one song it would be "Still Loving You Tonight". Martin is still touring and there's a good chance he could play your area in the next year or two, so if he does, you need to go see him before he retires, because he is getting up there in his seventies. I've seen him in concert now three times. each time was better than the last. The dude is just phenomenal. especially when he's the star of the show. his guitar is the show. No... you've got a long way to go in the Jethro Tull catalog, and I didn't even mention half the albums that you still got of Tulls to listen to
For something funny, see the reaction to the 7 minute flute solo video from elsewhere in this performance by RUclips flute teacher Heline on her channel. Maybe that is the part of the concert, (where he goes nuts with his vocalizing through the flute), that was being referred to as the best live performance.
This is an excerpt from the “Tullavision” DVD. The band hauled around an extremely expensive video projection system to stadiums in the USA on the 1976 tour supporting TOtRR. They had live camera operators and projected images on a giant screen next to the stage. This tape was made from the live feeds, then probably synced with soundboard audio. That’s why it’s all closeups. The purpose was for the live audience to be able to see details, and they really called it “Tullavision”. It was Jumbotron before Jumbotron existed. I don’t know if it was the first time a rock band did that, but it does illustrate how big an act Tull was that they could pay for such a thing. We are fortunate that such a high quality tape survived, even if it doesn’t show the whole band.
You could do non stop Ren music. Never blocked .he wants his stuff shared. 😂 some are real buggers on their material. A constant theme with you reactors. Love your station Lee. Im glad you have lots of Patreon backers. Thats a good sign.
This is great, but on your own time you should do the 1977 version live at Hippodrome. I know you've watched other things from that show, to me. That's the quintessential live thick as a brick, being that the 72 tour is not on video
My favorite was the one I actually saw in person in the 70s but the date is lost in the murky depths of my cluttered brain. Glad to be seeing all the new/old ones here. Old laptop died, this one has a funky keyboard response that's .kind of pissing me off I apologize in advance for the typos
The first time I heard about Trans was the keyboardist David Palmer Became Dee Palmer. Anyhow I saw them last in 2017 in Orlando. Doing this Album. Still great.
This is the Free L33 from Jail movement, just commenting for the algorithm. It could help if you started pausing the music, at least in some cases. Personally, I wouldn't mind.
I think it was like 54,- 55,000 people there. 38 special, and Robin Trower opened up. Johnny and Edgar Winter were going to be performing there, but Johnny was sick so they couldn't, but it was still one of the best concerts ever, and when people look for a live thick as a brick to play, they always mention MSG, but I think this concert in Tampa stadium was way better.
It seems like the camera POV was missing quite a bit because of too many close ups. You will get better camera shots from the "Thick as a Brick" Live at London 1977, but still poor recording production. You can also go with "Thick as a Brick" Live at Madison Square Gardens 1978. If I recall the recording production is a bit better there, but the camera work still misses some of Anderson's Acrobatic Antics.
[WARNING, LONG STORY AHEAD] I can't say which live show i like the best. Each time i saw them there were different moments and directions they would take your mind to. With Ian's antics and jumping around the stage in time with the music was very unusual to say the least. There was one show a long time ago at Red Rocks that im glad i wasn't there. It ended before it got started with a riot, and the Denver Police used tear gas but it backfired and the big fog was pushed by the wind right down on the stage choking out the band . Ian had to go to the hospital even. I got the story from my brother who was there when it happened. He said it started at the top entrance when the fans were bunched up and there weren't enough ticket takers(for lack of a better word at the moment) . anyway ; The crowd started piling through and got out of hand. The next thing my brother knew was people getting beat with clubs and bodies on the ground knocked out . The K-9 units were deployed, tear gas bombs were tossed into the crowd . Causing the cancelation of the concert and pissing off Jethro Tull so bad that the next day Ian put out the statement that Jethro Tull would NEVER put on another show in the state of Colorado. They finally did, but it was 20 years later. This was a long comment but i had to do it. Sorry. the next time i will put it in my book. LOL
It's obviously phenomenal, but the MSG videos and some others are much better, because the camera isn't in Ian's face the whole time. You see far more of the band.
IMHO this is the 2nd best performance of Thick as a Brick live the one from 77 shows much more of the band and has far better video This was fantastic tho I was planning on requesting it in jan and still want to if its ok with Lee
I've never seen them in person, but from what I've seen on RUclips, my favorite is the 'Sight and Sound' show from London 1977. Best line up in a great venue.
Which Tull got blocked? Anyhow, you've got Bursting Out to check out, plus the later albums: Broadsword (I think?), Under Wraps, Rock Island (meh), Catfish Rising, Roots to Branches, Dot Com, Christmas Album (just re-mixed), plus the latter Zealot Gene and RökFlöte to consider.
Isle of Wight, I think, but Tull fans are pretty much an Isle of White. Though I've seen other folks online being blown away, so respect where respect is due
@@thruppence-ys9zp not sure what you're saying, but the Isle of Wight concert is really fantastic, but almost every reactionist on RUclips has done a reaction to that video, and as good as it is, there's more to hear, there's more to See. Tull gets better and better. I would like to see Lee react to a lot more Tull, and I hope he continues the Tull Tuesday
You still got, Roots to Branches, Catfish Rising, A, Rock Island, Under Wraps, A Little Lite Music, J Tull . Com, The Chateau DHerouville Sessions, The Zealot Gene, Bursting Out, Rokflote. Plus about 20 others featuring live albums, and you name it. I mean there is just no end of the Jethro Tull albums, but the ones I just mentioned are all new music and they are all fantastic, they may not be the very best albums but in my opinion they're still great albums. better than what most people put out. and like you said yourself, every album is like a new universe, a new direction. Ian Anderson does not write bad songs. You just beginning you just hit the tip of the iceberg. I really like roots to branches I think it holds up to anything he's ever done . I know you're a total total fan right now but you still got another half of a Lifetime to listen to
What is your favorite Tull live show? I think mine would still be Isle of Wight 1970..
I saw Tull in Long Beach California in 1979, best concert ever, with the best lineup ever. UK opened the show.
My favorite and only live Tull show was in arizona in the 70s don't remember the date. Thanks for all the new/old shows here. My old laptop just died and this new keyboard is pi**ing me off. Agree ... Isle of Wight
Munich, Olympic Hall, October 6, '84 - Under Wraps Tour - Vienna, June 12, '12 - Lovely Days Festival

Tull Tuesday back with a bang 👌
I saw Tull live at Pontiac Stadium in '76 with Robin Trower, Rory Gallagher & Rick Derringer on the bill. That was a great show by all.
College freshman when this came out in '72. I am so fucking grateful for all the music...
Saw them 11 times. Phenomenal
Yes baby the flute 😀😀
Incredible live band.
I enjoy seeing Ian Anderson’s humorous bravado. And hearing the familiar lines of Thick As a Brick.
Saw them my senior year of college, fall 1975, in a 5000 seat music hall. IIRC he opened the show with this tune. Awesome show.
No band like Tull- the virtuosity, the lyrics and NO frontman like Ian.
I saw Tull in 1978. Fantastic concert! He's a wild character on stage. This is my fav Jethro Tull song. ❤
I think you would enjoy the 4+ minute Barriemore solo in this clip - Jethro Tull - Instrumental - Drum Solo Cross-Eyed Mary Wind Up Back Door Angels - Live 1977. Really shows his talent.

❤🎶❤JT's Ian Anderson the Energizer Bunny🐰 of rock!!
What a tight group😮
Nice job Lee doing proud by Ian and the mighty Tull! Thanks
I caught JT live back in the day, and they put on an amazing show.
Saw Jethro Tull live in the 70s and 80s. Amazing!! Phenomenal band! Ian Anderson is a genius!❤
That was SO great! I love Ian so much ❤
Back when people just looked the way they looked and sounded the way they sounded. I miss those days.😢
Saw them do this album live one of many times I saw them always a great show the energy Ian has is remarkable always great peace😊
God... I first heard Thick As A Brick in 1972 when I was 14... It blew my mind... How could anyone write that much... But it pushed me to buy A Passion Play next....
Wow! This was amazing to see. Thank you, Lee, for showing us this, you made my day. Awesome reaction once again!
YES❤

Saw the thick tour in ‘72 I was forever hooked

What a beautiful video ❤ your love for Tull alwYs shines through, Lee.
Thank you, thank you Lee .. excellent pick
Thank you for a surprise ... you've got me guessing
The great song Jethro Tull Jacq-a-lynn live Istanbul live 1991 one of the fans favorite songs rarely heard I think you'll love it
Yes .. it starts with Mother Goose. And Ian looks fabulous
I have saw 2 times live on stage the Jethro Tull.Fantastic band and fun with Ian🤘.
Tampa 1976... I was there

They were great in '69 at Kinetic Playground in Chicago. No recording of that I bet.
Also live at Tampa Stadium 1976 is one of the best live recordings available on RUclips
imho the best version of Brick and indeed of all Tulldome is Brick, live at Madison Square Garden and a close second is from london. MSG by a nose but the garden version , the jam between ian and Barre is fn aaaamaaazing!
2 for 2 on new Tull videos today - most people do the London or MSG version of this; either way it was musically great as usual.
Great stuff. I'm sure you've heard 'My God' if not listen to both the studio version and also live 1970 Isle of Wight is outstanding. Also, he does an unbelievable flute solo in Tampa Bay 1976. the strange thing about this video is that it was filmed as closeups of he band for the stageshow , so it's mostly Ian.

Top 10 album ever.
That was John Evans
A camera man's nightmare, trying to keep track of Ian Anderson.😂 I've seen them 17 times! 🤠🤣
☮️❤️🎶

The best live TaaB shows were the first tour, the full song.
I wonder if the camera man realised the other people on the stage were also in the band.
This is great, but on your own time you should do the 1977 version live at Hippodrome. I know you've watched other things from that show, to me. That's the quintessential live thick as a brick, being that the 72 tour is not on video

Dang utube commercials interrupting this performance-- seriously?
best ever? hard to say! need more data!
I think I actually prefer the 77 performances. Still great though!
I went to this show...ruclips.net/video/qdnVX_jHtBc/видео.html
This one from NY in '78 has better audio quality, and he has some new tricks: ruclips.net/video/qtwWCviojBs/видео.html
