As a jazz player Mr. Cziffra was compared with Art Tatum. He even mentions jamming with a US big band playing "Tiger Rag"...I wonder what his version of "Tiger Rag" sounded like.
@@bboyo8307 You think so? Excerpts from the 10th etude? Hmm. I was thinking that little melody he played had some Gypsy or Hungarian roots, theme. Seems like I've heard it before. But maybe not.
@@mwworkman watch Traums performance of this etude and hear the parts from 0:16 and 3:12 To me the melodies sound kinda familiar, but I am not sure. It could probably be a cziffra impro mixup with the melody of the etude but idk
Cziffra is the only pianist's whose casual playing is so virtuosic that it makes me laugh when I hear him play. So absurd and out of reach for the rest of us
Happy 100th birthday Gyorgy (Georges) Cziffra. Thank you JF for this unique footage.
Great to know he still playing Strauss improvisations after 1970s! ♥️
Thanks, God bless Cziffra.
The second improv of the danube he played when asked if he still plays it as he did when he was a child is so badass of a response
It was Cziffra, and the others.

Love it! I love seeing new videos of Cziffra.
Does anybody know the name of the tango piece Cziffra is improvising on at the end? Sounds familiar.
I think he improvised with the material of the apassionata trans etude from liszt. Am I right?

This is the first time that I see the maestro Cziffra laughing ! What is the first piece he plays at the beginning ?
It's just his own improvisation I think.
