    We had a Minnie-White AT 1400 one size smaller than that. Was in great condition cosmetically and engine ran awesome, thing always started. Brakes never worked, it was loud and seemed a little under powered without a turbo. Awesome tractor for what it is. Guy few miles away owns it now.

    Oliver 66, I thought I was a JD guy but in the past I had a few of your wish tractors. Out of school I worked 22 years for Central Tractor parts co. I was fortunate to have access to reasonable cost new and used parts, so I collected a few tractors. I had farmall 460, 560 diesel, 806 D, MM 670 diesel super, and 1 that I think you would have liked, A super 955 diesel. It was a White cab and chassis in back through the over under and a MM diesel front end. I've kicked myself a few times for not keeping it. I really did like the WFC cab. That tractor only had 1100 hours when I sold it. Keep up the great videos.

    This tractor and the other one you mentioned need saving now before they deteriorate further. But gee she would be a beaute to own and do up . A green and white Oliver white moline4wd tractor . I have never seen one.

    Awesome video! Hope you do one on the 2255 that you're also considering if you haven't already bought the 2655. Can't wait to see what happens either way!

    Nice tractor that would be awesome to see in action! I remember this past year I worked at a machine shop and we did some work on a few Minneapolis moline engines and they are huge, I remember moving those blocks around and they were something else and helped putting the cranks in the crank grinder. I always was pretty entrigued by how big they were too.

      +CAT966DIESEL Yea its a good thing the jugs are separate from the crankcase otherwise they would be a real bear to work with.

    On tractor house there is a 2655 at the tractor Doctor. He is about a hour west of me in eau Claire Wisconsin. He has a whole shed full of really cool Oliver tractors even a self propelled forage chopper.. He seems to know a lot about Oliver's if you have questions maybe you could call him and pick his brain. I totally agree with you they are a bad ass looking tractor.

    That's a great restoration project depending on how long you want to wait before you feel comfortable about putting it in the field. If you can get it bought for what a salver would pay to get it, you probably ought to go for it. The worst thing about the articulateds is that they ride like a log wagon. I had an IH and swapped it for a challenger. Expect to go ahead a spring for an air ride seat. LOL!

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy

    That would be a cool horse. I have always loved articulated tractors. I will warn you though some makes and models can be very expensive to repair. I know guys that switched to MFWD because they where cheaper to operate. I would make sure the pivot points where the tractor articulates are good. You can put a jack under it to see how much slop you got. When me and my buddy got out of high school he bought an 8640 for his first tractor. I remember him buying new tires for it and it was $10,000 in 1995.

    well I vote yes on this!!!! I was in the same situation as you I was using 4020s to turn ground and it worked but I have a huge love for 8 wheeled articulated tractors and thats why I have a 7020 deer but like that tractor the one I bought needed a ton of work but I'm slowly gaining on it you will absolutely love turning ground with that machine trust me

    If the engine runs smooth with out any trace of knock in the engine when warmed up it might well be o.k.. GET RID OF THE TURBO!!!!!! I had a 585 in my 2-150. Great lugging engine and fun to run. I loved mine. The WFE mechanics around here were violently against putting turbos on them. Too easy to get them too hot when working them hard in hot weather. The mechanic told me " when you are pulling it hard on a disk or field cultivator in late spring the only gauge to watch is the temperature gauge! It is easy to get the 585 running too hot. Just throttle back 300 rpm and shift down until it cools off toward evening." The 585 will keep pulling hard until you have it too hot and score cylinders and pistons. Expensive to overhaul! The mechanic had overhauled one 2655 three times because the owner's hired men didn't watch the temp gauge. If the engine is good and the other things mentioned below check out you will have a lot of fun with it

    I personally think the 2255 would be better for you. mainly because to me a mfwd is more useful than a articulated tractor is for the amount of ground you cover. also parts for the 2255 would be a hell of a lot cheaper and what helps is there is still alot of 3208 caterpillar engines around to this day

    i went to a ffa auction sat and they had a oliver 1650 and a 1800 both diesel both narrow front!! both original paint decent rubber!! 1650 brought 3200 and the 1800 brought 4200!!! i was wishing i had a use for the 1650 on my 8 acre spread!!! after see you are buying a big 4 wheel drive for 75 acres maybe i should have!!!! lol

    The cab looks just like the ones on the White 4-150 and as far as tires go add a set of 23.1x34 and she would look good. My cousin has a White 4-150 with the 23.1x34's on it and he has no problem with traction running with singles. I'll bet that Oliver has a lot in commend with the White 4x4 tractors than you might think. Worth checking into. Bandit

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  8 лет назад +1

      +Bandit farmer I think it would look good with those on it but the problem with going down to 34's is then I would have to come up with a set of wheel centers for it. I dont know though, it aint even bought yet so these decisions arent really a priority yet.

    My biggest concern about that 2655 is the pivot pin. If the tractor was neglected, was the pivot pin greased, and how much wear is in it? That is one reason I'm not much of a fan of articulating tractors. Sure is some cool factor there though.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  8 лет назад

      +1850oliver180AC Well the pivot on this thing is covered in so much grease and oil from not being washed that I think it was self lubricating. lol Anymore you can pick up an older 4WD for better than half the price of a FWA so its hard not to buy one.

    • @1850oliver180AC
      @1850oliver180AC 8 лет назад

      Oliver66FarmBoy There was a 4-150 for sale on the Terre Haute craigslist a while back for 3 or 4 thousand, but it needed something fixed (I don't remember what). I just think they are unnecessarily large for the power they make. They will pull through wet spots, but they take the space of 2 tractors in a barn. If Oliver made a crab-walk tractor I would be more interested in that; like a Case 1470 or an International 4100. If I had 30 to 40 thousand dollars to spend, I would have a CH Cat Challenger over an articulating tractor.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  8 лет назад

      +kls1724 The 310 was known to have issues at High horsepower to but Im farming with one of them. Besides you cant hardly throw a rock without hitting a 2255 and if I got one it would have to be FWA cause I dont really want another big 2WD tractor for working ground. I could have that 2655 bought, fixed and in the field and still wouldnt come close to spending what I would just buying a FWA 2255.

    Have you considered stepping up to a White 2-135 series III or newer? Once you get done screwing with this tractor you could have something newer, more reliable and in overall better shape.

    • @sweetfarmsllc8886
      @sweetfarmsllc8886 8 лет назад

      +Joe Sweet Also if you are dead set on a 4x4 look a Steiger, they can be had pretty cheap. They are darn near bulletproof for their price point.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  8 лет назад +1

      +Joe Sweet The thing is I want a FWA if I go with a row crop tractor so that puts me in the 25-30 thousand range on a White, not a practical price tag for 75 acres. As for the Steiger your missing the point of having an Oliver theme on the farm here.

      I would think long and hard before buying that tractor.. I could get you in touch with a one owner 2655 with 2500 original hours. A neighbor of mine has one. He has only kept it because its somewhat rare, and it was the last new tractor his dad bought. It sets inside their shed, and only gets started 2-3 times a year. He wont use it in the field, because he says it was pos new and doesnt want to break anything, since it might have some collector value.

    They are neat, their is a cool factor, but they are a morphodite thing, an 585’s are expensive!!!, an parts are getting rarer by the minute, I’ve been in them up to my ankles. In my opinion they don’t make enough power for their weight. My advice, not that anybody needs to take it!, buy another white, like a 4-225 an put a 8.3 cummins in it, plenty of weight, better hydraulics, three point, the good pivot setup, good power with a cummins, but not so much to hurt it, an I know what everybody’s gonna say, “ holy crap that’d cost a lot of money “, well It doesn’t hurt so much if you shop around an find the right parts, an don’t just buy on a whim, an if you found a good articulated white you can run the 3208 for awhile or quite awhile to justify it for awhile, my other piece of advice, Don’t buy on the cool factor!!, cool doesn’t put grain in the bin or milk in the tank!!!, any tractor can be cool it just might take some time

    That is a $3500 tractor. Needs mech. work, rubber, cab kit/repair, hyd. don't even work. Owner prolly knows it too, been sitting long enough for a tree to grow behind it. You call him? Offer him anything? You never know, guy migt feel it is worth more, but then he might look at it as better to have cash in hand then a tractor that just sits needing work. If you want some info on MM engines, or even just the A4T-1600 go to these forums: forum.minneapolis-moline.com/ great group of guys there. I wouldn't be afraid of the engine, but I would take the turbo off. 585 will pull all day without a turbo. Make sure it has enough fuel for working, and keep heavy oil in it, it'll do the job. Also, IMO I prefer the duals- you would get a lot less compaction for the tillage work. Not a big deal for a ripper, but for other tillage like a disc etc there is a lot of science behind reducing compaction vs crop yield. If you don't need perfection, keep an eye on Craig's list, 18.4's show up on there regular.

      @@Oliver66FarmBoy a lot of the heating issue in warm weather could be solved by outing bigger radiator on, but that means messing the front up so removing turbo is better option or leaving it non but not increasing the size of tillage gear behind it and just using some lower revs
