im sure you have got some fish off the willow creek there is some shallow parts you can see salmon swim up its amazing . But on a very hot day in august salmon will jump out of the water by the hundreds
Look up trail creek Michigan city indiana. If you're driving north and you get wet you drove too far. It starts right next to the nipsco power plant in michigan city and travels from there. From Bloomington it's a pretty good drive, I would say around a 4 hour trip.
Yes I've got some time this year so i should have some videos soon. I'm also going to post some setup and techniques videos if anyone is interested. Maybe I'll also make a video of the equipment I use, what do you think?
Indiana Steelhead and Salmon Fishing i like the idea of that. ive been having trouble trying to find steel and getting them to bite. my main problem is keeping them on the hook lol. but yeah i like the idea. hopefully the future videos help!
Where's the best spots to fish? I only know 3 areas behind the gas station by wazinak, the spot on 20 and behind my uncles house. Any info would be great I've though about getting my kayak out and floating down the creek. I did it before just for fun but got halfway to 20 from wazinak before a huge storm came in had to paddle like hell to get back...that was 2 years ago.
It'a a little harder to get them to bite right now, they're under a lot of fishing pressure and will be for a long time. look for deeper holes and downsize your bait. just keep at it you'll get on them.
I fish trail for skamanias and used to fish behind bass pro for salmon in the fall before they closed it off. However, this winter I want to get into some winter runs. Wondering if I could exchange emails, get some tips. Thanks
Hmm, only one fish had made it. Just makes me think how many fish actually makes up the stream and how many stay below. From my experience since they put this stupid dam the fishing in the Trail went from phenomenal year round to poor especially in the fall and winter. Whoever came up with the idea and design for this dam should be fired and or fined or jailed; and this stupid dam torn down.
I stoped by there that same day and saw a few moving around but, I didn't have much time to check the area to much. I'll get another video up of the barrier next time I'm out in that area.
This damn or fall hasn't always been there. Why did they put it there and has it negatively influenced the breeding since it's harder for them to get upstream?
there's actually 2 different steelhead runs here, a summer run and a winter run. There's also a Coho salmon run in the fall and some chinook also. Everything is stocked of course. There's brown trout and lake trout in lake michigan as well. Just a very good fishery in north west Indiana.
Sadly if you go there you cannot fish the dam because it is gated off but you can go upstream
That was honestly amazing
It's always amazing to watch when the run starts. I couldn't get over how many fish were really in there

What access site is this
Imagine if that water wasn't falling down the dam how many fish you could catch right there you would have a blast fishing right there
Posted no fishing.
Its posted by the dnr. My opinion is that it's just to easy to catch them in a area they cant just swim straight through.
Nice! glad to see that their are really a lot coming in. are you going to do steelhead fishing videos again?

Indiana Steelhead and Salmon Fishing alright just looking for new places to fish is all. No worries
Would I be able to drift fish this creek and if not where should I drift fish steelhead near Chicago?
Yes but not in the area of the barrier. Johnson/Wozniak Rd or u.s.20 access points are always open.
Was there today for my first trip there and, man, it was so bad. Prbly my skills sux or didn't find the right spot

Indiana Steelhead and Salmon Fishing thank you for your advice. I will keep that in mind
No problem. I'm trying to get the time to put up some videos about setups and techniques. Look for those videos soon.
Indiana Steelhead and Salmon Fishing keep up, cannot wait for it.

Why can't you fish there ? Just to easy so they say no?

Michigan city indiana. You can't fish close to it. It's illegal.

It serves it purpose for stopping lampreys and I would say many more fish make it than don't.
Be fun to throw a cast net to see what u catch
I was there watching them yesterday... tons of fish moving up...karwick must of been on fire
I stoped by there that same day and saw a few moving around but, I didn't have much time to check the area to much. I'll get another video up of the barrier next time I'm out in that area.
I live in fort Wayne Indiana was going to take a trip to trail Creek can you catch them anywhere on the creek or not
I don't think you can fish there. There is a no fishing between this barrier and golf there.
You can't. I wasn't fishing. I did make a comment about no fishing there in my responses on youtube.
This damn or fall hasn't always been there. Why did they put it there and has it negatively influenced the breeding since it's harder for them to get upstream?
It's a lamprey trap and barrier. People say it has effected the run but, it's been there as long as I can remember so I wouldn't know the difference.
Where is this in Indiana?
Michigan City Indiana
Thx you I might check that out!!
You can't fish in that area. There are plenty of places up and down stream from there though.
Oh I didn't even know there was steel head in Indiana lol

Do any of the fish actually make it up the fall ever
Lots make it over. I have actually never caught a steelhead in the lower reach of this creek.
