Parallelism of the cutting parts will reduce boulders and therefore under extraction.
? (too thin grain ?) I noticed a huge amelioration by (partially) line up my burrs on my old grinder Gaggia mdf . gained 4 gradations and the homogeneity is visibly better. I will finish the fixing . Btw I 'planed' the bottom moving part with that "tool"

Is this Titus Alignment Tool Endorsed by Mahlkonig? I see they (Titus) are attempting to align the burr using the motor shaft as a datum. What if the radial alignment of the motor shaft is out of alignment? What is the T.I.R value of the motor shaft? If the angular height geometry of the burr cutting edges change..from the center toward the outside, the measurement taken has no validity if tool is not aligned exactly and if the burr is not perfectly concetric (radially aligned) with the shaft. I would not use this tool. I would stick with the bluing method for sure.
Mahlkonig doesn’t care or acknowledge that they are selling a grinder that comes out of the factory with unaligned burrs so of course they don’t endorse the tool
@@k2u364 I am sorry that you do not understand datum points and alignment procedures. Of course it should be endorsed you fool. Follow Mahlkonig's guidelines. I have been working in the machine tool industry for 30 years. I can see that you have no idea what you are talking about.

Well yes you may need that sort of gig to measure, I used a standard magnetic stand but the moving burr is on the bottom of my grinder. this set is very expensive. A standard is about 70 USD with 0.01 mm precision
BUt , just using non permanent marker you can align the burrs efficienly with shims.
If you have a 3000$+ coffee grinder I wouldn’t call a 70$ alignment tool very expensive but I get where you are coming from
Yes please respond to Oleg’s post below. Matt Perger has RUclips of aligning EK with non-permanent marker and aluminum foil shims-basically free. The question is-is the free hack good enough?
And how to align the burrs on the burr carrier?
Interesting! Does this tool also work on for example a k30 or a ceado e37s?
The way it is currently designed it will only fit the EK43 and EKK43. The premise would work for many flat burr grinders, but you would need a custom mounting bracket for each different grinder design.

I like it - and borrow this tool from a friend of mine next week! So it was made to check alignment of the fixed burr - how about the moving burr that could be equally out of alignment?
The moving burr can only be fixed by revising the burr carrier on a lathe machine.
@@Terranova911RS no it can be checked with a non permanent marker, and shims used (very easy to insert them) better do the moving one first anyway

lets say the one on the shaft is not aligned it would wobble. that sounds scary, as not sure if all these come super aligned from the factories.
if so, the stationary one couldn't be aligned to a wobbeling burr.
What is made inaccurately? Do you think that it is the burr or the base for the burr?
In theory either the grind chamber or the burr could be off-level. In practice it seems more common that the grind chamber is the culprit.
Use Mahlkonig's alignment tool and marker method instead. This little fixture wont repeat. You will find that when removing the tool and remounting that your measurements will be different. The aluminum mounting is soft and will deform over time. Don't waste your money.
Anyone else noticing that the indicator gauge dial says "Mitutogo" instead of Mitutoyo (Japanese precision calibration tools manufacturer)? Made in Japan? Really?!
Y'know, we hadn't caught that before. The dial actually reads "MitutDgD," and claims to be made in Japan. Those gauges have since been replaced, and the new indicator included with the kit does not have a branded dial. At the very least they do seem to be accurate and reliable enough to align grinder burrs.
OK but how does this help with wobble in the rotating burr as a result of the slop in the shaft and varying density of beans between the burrs pressing the burrs apart at different points around the circumferance of the burr? Funny thing is that the supplier has a centering tool for the burrs because they obviously feel this has an effect and yet your tool doesnt do this function but it could. Sounds like pseudo techno babble to me.
Correct, this kit is intended to address alignment of the stationary burr only. If your grinder needs attention elsewhere, you will need other tools and supplies.
