For some reason people aren't posting *completely* correct lyrics, so here they are:
Miss Acacia:
My vision's not quite right
But glasses make me look a sight
Enough to give the world a fright
Like a sprite... wearing specs
Jack:
Oh, fiery little sprite
Conflagration in the night
Don't play games with your sight
If it leaves you in the dark
Miss Acacia:
I prefer life all a blur
I forget to wear my glasses
When I sing I share caresses
It feels good to close my eyes.
Jack:
Oh, my pretty arsonist,
Let me clasp you close to me
Rip your clothes with my teeth
And tear them into confetti
To scatter as we kiss...
Miss Acacia:
Confetti?
Jack:
...On you and me.
Miss Acacia:
All I see are stars
Suddenly some days
My eyes lead me astray
Faraway down the street
Until I can't bear to steal
A glance at the Sun
Or even look the sky straight in the eye
All I see are stars
Jack:
I won't let you stray
I'll be your only guide
Let me be your pair of eyes
You'll be my special flame
Miss Acacia:
There's one thing I must confess
Of five senses my hearing's best
I'll never recognize you by
Relying on my eyes
Jack:
Smoldering embers, alone in the dark
We'll raise cascades of sparks
As the clock of my heart
Strikes midnight we'll catch on fire
And blaze so bright you'll see the light
Jack & Miss Acacia:
All I see are stars
Suddenly some days
My eyes lead me astray
Faraway down the street
Until I can't bear to steal
A glance at the Sun
Or even look the sky straight in the eye
All I see are stars
Thank you for all the lyrics!😃
pretty sure it's "Daze" not "days" since the whole song is about her sight. the french lyrics translate to " I'm blinded
In just a few steps
I can get lost in the distance
So far away in my street
And I don't even dare
Look at the sun
Nor look at the sky
Right in the eyes
I'm blinded"
Taken from lyricstranslate.com/en/flamme-lunettes-flame-glasses.html#ixzz3PfRI9oS4
Daisy Sanchez "Suddenly some daze" is not a phrase that makes sense in English, however... In saying "suddenly some days my eyes lead me astray," she is saying that on occasion she will suddenly have an increased trouble in focusing, such as she says in the translation you provided "in just a few steps I can get lost in the distance." The two phrases are basically saying that she finds it difficult to keep her vision focused. Now, "suddenly some daze" on the other hand, does not go with the next line, "my eyes lead me astray," as it would be saying 'suddenly some stupor, my eyes lead me astray." While this could still get the point across, it is not correct phrasing in English, and if said in normal conversation (typing, obviously), the recipient of this comment would be left confused.
abibumbleB agreed :)
I like daze better :T
Jack is like 10 and he's talking about ripping some girl's clothes with his teeth and turning it into confetti 😂 The best
In this scene, it's Jack's birthday, and he'd just turned ten. Strangely enough, the book makes the movie look tame in comparison.

*Miss Acacia literally tells him she's practically blind*
Jack: *shows up and expects her to recognize him*
One of my friends made fun of me for liking this because they read the Netflix description, which does NOT do it justice. I don't like it because of the Romeo and Juliet 'dying for love' plotline, I like it because it's weird and beautiful and riddled with very human flaws and emotions.
damn they should be made fun of for insulting a good movie and shouldn't have made fun of your opinion. but v accurate that it's beautiful and has human flaws and emotions.
And Miss Acacia didn't even die with him. HE died, which btw that ending made me cry. I found this movie when I was like... I think 12? Back when I was in sixth grade and now I am a junior in high school and I still think it's an absolute masterpiece.
I love it, that the MOMENT Jack lays his eyes on Acacia, the world slows and then ultimately stops, because she’s the only thing he sees. UGH. So poetic.
In case anyone wants to know how it happened in the book:
_"My spectacles have been mislaid_
_I didn't want to wear 'em_
_Fire-girl behind those shades_
_My face looked funny, I'm afraid."_
Her arms look like branches and her curly black hair sets her face aglow, playing the shadow to its fire. Her tiny nose is so perfect, I don't know how she can breathe through it---perhaps it's just for decoration. But she dances like a bird, on the feminine scaffolding of stiletto heels. Her eyes are so huge that you can take your time plunging in. They betray a fierce determination. She carries her head high, like a miniature flamenco dancer. Her breasts resemble two meringues so exquisitely baked it would be rude not to eat them on the spot.
_"I don't mind if I'm half blind_
_When I sing or when I kiss,_
_I prefer to close my eyes_
_In this hazy state of bliss."_
I feel hot. The little singer's merry-go-round terrifies me, but I'm also dying to climb up there. The smell of candyfloss and dust makes my throat feel parched. I've got no idea how this pink carousel works, but I have to climb aboard. Suddenly, just like in a musical comedy, I burst into song. Dr. Madeline gives me a look that says "take your hands off that stove now."
_"Oh my little fire, let me taste your attire,_
_Shred your clothes to a tatter,_
_As confetti makes them scatter,_
_Then I'll kiss you in that shower..."_
Did I hear myself say "confetti"? Madeleine's graze speaks volumes.
_"Lost in a heartbeat,_
_Far away on my own street,_
_Can't look the sky in the eye,_
_All I see is fire."_
We began to sing together, back and forth.
_"I'll guide you through this city's passes,_
_And be your special pair of glasses,_
_You'll be the match I strike._
_Yes, you'll be the match I strike."_
_"I've got something to admit,_
_I hear you now but should you sit_
_Upon a bench, I couldn't tell_
_Between your handsome self and it!"_
_"Let's stroke each other, eyes shut tight,_
_'Til our skeletons catch alight,_
_Let's start a fire on the hour_
_My cuckoo-clock chimes midnight."_
_"I'm a little fire-girl, so it's no surprise_
_When the music stops I can't open my eyes._
_I blaze like a match, a thousand flames burn my glasses,_
_So it's no surprise, I can't open my eyes."_
As our voices rise in unison, her left heel gets caught between two cobblestones, she teeters like a spinning top at the end of its flight and lands spread-eagled on the icy path. An accident of comical violence. Blood runs down her dress in feathers and she looks like a crushed gull. Sprawled on the cobblestones, she still stirs me. She struggles to put on a pair of spectacles with wonky sides, then staggers like a sleepwalker. Her mother holds her more firmly by the hand than is usual for a parent; you could say she's restraining her.
I try to say something, but the words stick in my throat. I wonder how eyes as huge and wonderful as hers can be so ineffectual that she bumps into things.
Dr. Madeleine and the little girl's mother exchange a few words, like the owners of two dogs who've been caught in a fight.
My heart races again, I'm finding it hard to catch my breath. Is my heart swelling and rising up into my throat? Has this fire-girl just stepped out of an egg? Is she edible? Is she made of chocolate? What the hell is going on?
I try to look her in the eye, but her mouth has kid-napped my gaze. I didn't know it was possible to spend so much time staring at a mouth.
All of a sudden, my cuckoo-clock heart starts ringing loudly, far louder than when I'm having an attack. I can feel my gears whirring at top speed, as if I've swallowed a helicopter. The chiming hurts my eardrums so I block my ears, which only make it worse. My clock hands are going to sever my throat. Dr. Madeline moves to calm me with slow hand gestures, like a bird tamer trying to catch a panicked canary in its cage. I'm horrible hot.
I'd like to be a golden eagle, or a majestically cool sea-gull. But instead I'm a stressed canary ensnared by its own startled movements. I hope the little singer hasn't seen me. My _tick -tock_ sounds dull. My eyes open and I'm this close to the blue sky. The doctor's iron fist has clamped down on my shirt collar, gently raising my heels off the ground. Next, Madeleine grabs me by the arm.
"We're going back home, immediately! You've frightened everybody! Everybody!"
She looks furious and worried at the same time. I feel ashamed. But I'm also busy committing to memory the pictures I have of this tiny shrub of a girl, who sings without glasses and stares the sun in its face. Almost without realizing it, I'm falling in love. Except I do realize it too. Inside my clock, it's the hottest day on earth.
I'm actually impressed you took the time to do this annnnnd also that was pretty good
Daniela Saenz You're welcome.
i really want to read the book now~
iwilleatyourchildrenXD You should really get it. It's good.
I love that you put this here. Thank you.
>.< That asshole Joe had to mess things up and give it a sad ending.
It's impossible not to be angry at Joe, but really he's a catalyst for what must happen in the end.
No matter what happened whether it was him stealing her away for a moment or them running off together tje secret would be told because if theycran away and they kissed he would still die it does not matter what happens no matter what he is doomed to fail what I wabt to know is what happens after he dies though what happens to her now that her only love is gone? Does she travel the earth heart broken forever alone? Does she go back to that one prick? Or does she just end her own life shortly after the kiss knowing no other escape from these feelings but the cold icy hand of death these questions haunt me wjenever I see this movie
Reading the book will help answer that, the ending isn't the actual ending in the book.
Destiny Davidson
I will have to read the book now. I thought this ending was very effective, but if the original is very different then I'd like to read it.
steampoweredman We never actually know what a kiss would do to Jack. Every time it's about to happen or his emotions flare someone accidentally fiddles with the hands of his clock.
What if the third rule wasn't true, and he died needlessly? The ending was effective as Jack felt more of a burden and a harm to those he loved so he felt death was preferable to letting people suffer because of him. It's tragic, but powerful cause Jack didn't have to die. He chose death when he didn't have to.
This movie traumatized me but it was still great. (Thanks for the likes!)

this movie is crazily based on the theme of German expressionism, that's why all the architecture is so distorted and the people look like they are made out of porcelain, it's like the movie was based in some sort of giant music box or cuckoo clock

If people had the silly view that watching or reading "children's" things as a bad thing and stupid for the adult, no adult would have read Winnie the Pooh or other classics that are beautifully made, any person of age could enjoy this movie and many kids movies for that matter, all depends on your outlook☺️

As the clock of my heart
Strikes midnight we'll catch on fire
And blaze so bright
you'll see the light
Both: all I see are stars
Suddenly some days
My eyes lead astray
Faraway down the street
Until I can't bear to steal
A glance at the sun
Or even look the sky
straight in the eye
All I see are stars
Jack: do you often sprout Italian icecream cones?
Acacia: only after I've snacked on spaghett
thank you for writing the lyrics
thank you
gracias por la letra
Smoldering ambers alone in the dark we will race cascades of sparks as the clock of my heart strikes midnight we'll catch on fire and blaze so bright you'll see the light

He'll wrip her clothes off with his teeth, then turn it into confetti?
He was raised by an insane handmaid, a widower, and two prostitutes. Not to mention, life expectancy was much shorter back then
Thank you for the explanation :3

If you have a crush on someone just start singing the song if you wear eye glasses part if they know the movie and if you wear glasses and it's the best way to tell them your feelings.

Wow mee too 🥰🥰🥰
This was such a magical movie. Absolutely loved it. So creative.
I alike it when they fall down together and the end it was so emotional and romantic at the same time this movie is my favorite movie ever I watch it all the time
Jack said “how could I fall in love I don’t even know what love means”
Boy talking about I’ll rip you clothes with my teeth😂
If only this movie wasn't underfunded! It's art-style is excellent! I love all the little quirks like the thorns when she locks her heart, the hyper realistic humans, and the creative backgrounds. The story is told beautifully, and has a beautifully tragic ending. Alas, it wasn't properly funded, so they couldn't redub it for English, but they do a decent enough job with what they have, and there was no advertisement for it in America! Which is such a shame!
THIS IS MY FAV MOVIEEE I WATCH IT SINCE I'M 7 YRS OLD NOW I'M 12 AND STILL WATCHING
SAME
Jack how many times do I have to f*cking tell you....
The nostalgia that just washed over me, this was one of my main movies I watched as a kid and it would scare me
i actually genuinely love this movie. my family thinks it's a weird one, but i believe it has a really interesting and romantic storyline. IT'S SO GOOD
I'm a sucker for movies like these
I’m late but have u seen a monster in Paris?
@@navy9455 I have not but it’s going on my watch list now
@@Harri477 it is amazing and in French...u can watch it in English but it’s sooo good
@@navy9455 I would prefer to watch it in french with English subtitles. I feel a movie like that would lose its feel otherwise. Try watching the illusionist - another great french movie.
@@Harri477 oh yeah I understand...will do
this need to be a broadway musical
throughout the whole movie it never explains the girls vine power-thingy. like fr what's up with that???????
ikr
This movie is HUGE on visual metaphors so it's just another one of those
How she protects herself like that when things scare her
Autumn Fall two purple flowers blossom on her boobs around 2:58 so i guess this is where you see a little bit of her power???
Its a metaphor, like so poetic. Its a defense
Italian Ice cream dude XD
One of the best movies i have ever seen.
One of the best movies you'll ever see
SlurpG3 thAts concerning the way you put that
"What's that odd pitter patter?"
"That's just the rain, do you like the rain?"
"Getting wet no, but the sound it makes yes."
i miss this movie
Jan Rey Culanggo putlocker u can find it there
Same
Its been so long since i watched this! I watched this with my dad and mom when i was about 5, now im turning 13, mom and dad divorced, watching this alone locking myself in my room
This sounds weird translated into English...Do you often sprout Italian ice cream cones? Me: *O.O* And then something about spaghetti after midnight... what?
It's like the original original music (IN THE MOVIE !) :3 ! But the REAL version... Miss Acacia doesn't say that...
the icecream cones -> look at her chest before he says that as they're about to kiss. her reply is 'only when I've snacked on spaghetti after midnight'
but yes it does sound weird, I'm sure a lot of it sounds odd translated. translations often lose something along the way because it's not always easy to communicate the same meaning in a different language :c
felinerx woah i watched this movie multiple times and never noticed that hahahha.
Sarah Williams Yeah it took me a few watches too and when I did my mind was blown I was just like 'SPROUTS ICE CREAM CONES. I GET IT NOW!'
His clock is his special place ',:^)
Minx OMG NO

i've watched this movie so many times that i can literally recite it word for word, including all of the songs. A true master piece, just began reading the book.
Cherries R Gr8 I’ve only memorized this one song because it’s literally the most precious thing on the planet
This song, this movie, it made this man CRY like a baby. I come back often to this song.
i saw this movie when i was really young so I didn't get the ending but I rewatched it now that I'm older and I cried so hard
x2 una secuela porvis
I love this movie I’ve watched it when it first came out and I still watch it lol
I did sob lot of the parts
I remember this movie when I was 12.. I'm 15 now now. Nostalgia man... And it needs more attention too
I remember this as a fever dream and now seeing it now yeah it still feals that way
The ending makes me cry every time
i am always humming this song to myself this is my favorite movie
Not even gonna lie tthis movie traumatized me like I thought it was TERRIFYING when I was a kid😭
I completely forgot about this movie, its extremely underated and a masterpiece
This movie is amazing, the story is well executed and the animation is well made. The voice actors are very good at sounding like their hurt, or sad. The soundtrack is some of the best music I’ve heard in a while.
This movie, makes me sad, and heartbroken of what happened. I’ve never had a movie made me feel this way before never… this movie helps me figure out the inside of love and romance, and the downsides of love and romance. I was very young when I saw the movie for the first time, I never got through the movie fully but.. I’m 13 now, more mature, more emotional, and more interested into girls. Jack and the Clock Heart helped me think about girls, and made me interested into them, for not their body parts, their emotional values. If I were the age I watched this movie, my mom would be crying her eyes out while I would have no idea what’s going on. I’m very glad I watched this movie, this made me understand what I might I have to go through, for the love of my life. The journey of distress, depression, anxiety. But it will be worth it, for me to love the person who I will love for the rest of my life.
I will love this movie for what it’s done to me, in a good way. It shows to be nice and caring, and they will do the same. Unlike other animated movies, this one had an impact on me and an ending that no one can really explain well. I wish there would be a sequel, but I don’t think there will be, it’s been 6 or 7 years since the movie came out. I’m not expecting another movie about this exact story. Anyway, Thank you Jack and the Clock Heart, thank you for teaching me life lessons that I could never learn from anyone else. Thank you for teaching me to be the better man and person that I am.
