Thank you for the insightful and beautiful video, would you happen to know what time does the ticket/exchange station open at dentetsu-toyama station? And did you take the first departure for this journey? thanks!

Hi. Did you buy a round trip ticket from Toyama station? We will stay at Toyama area and plan to buy the round trip ticket but I am not sure if the bus will go straight back to Toyama from Ogizawa station or will the bus take us to the next train station?
Last time, we only purchased one-way tickets from Tateyama to Ogizawa, followed by a bus from Ogizawa to Nagano Station. All of these tickets can be bought online. Finally, we took the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Nagano back to Toyama.
@@journeyacrossnations is it cheaper to do your trip via shinkansen on the way back vs roundtrip ticket tateyama-ogizawa-toyama? how many hours was the trip going back to toyama?
@@BoredGaymer If you have a JR Pass, it’s significantly cheaper to travel one way from Dentetsu-Toyama to Nagano and return by Shinkansen to Toyama. The cost is approximately JPY 15,870 per adult. For travelers without a JR Pass, you can purchase a more affordable round-trip ticket, but it only covers travel up to Kurobe Dam, not Ogizawa. The ticket price is around JPY 18,940. For more details, you can visit this page and select “Fare/Ticket”: tateyama-kurobe-webservice.jp/AlpenTour/html/VW001W0010.html.
The one-way trip from Toyama to Nagano and back to Toyama takes about 10 hours, while the return journey typically requires 8-9 hours. Both durations may vary depending on queue times and how much time you spend at each stop.
Thanks for the informative and beautifully shot video. How long does it take for the whole Alpine route from Toyama to Nagano? And is this covered by any JR pass?
@@aseah8566 it really depends on personal preferences. If you prefer to spend more time at one or several places, then the duration can be longer than just passing by. But overal you'll need around 6-7 hours to really enjoy these beautiful landscapes. FYI, this trip is not covered by JR Pass. We spent around JPY 25,000 for two persons, incl. an express bus from Ogizawa to Nagano. After reaching Nagano station, we then took the Shinkansen back to Toyama (this one was covered by JR Pass). Hope it helps.
