Thank you, I think virtual basses are fair game 🙂
Having learned bass coming from the guitar, I've come to understand how vastly different the two instruments actually are: while it's relatively easy to hold the root notes, being a bassist is so much more than that.
Most modern metal guitarist simply want something very controlled holding the low notes an octave below their riffs. Virtual basses are perfect for that!

Even though i am not personally being a fan of baritone based modern metal, I understand to an extent why. Yet, coming from a very traditional mindset, my brain says "If you can play the guitar, following the root notes at least shows an effort of composition and execution" Im a multi instrumentalist as well and know how to execute basslines that are complimentary and percussive....I do understand some guitarists arent as privvy.. I guess i would just like to see more creativity in that area instead of "Look how fast i can arpeggio"... Not arguing homie.. just sharing a perspective.. Dialogue is good!
