I got it last week as a free goodie from a synth fanatic with too much gear. The pre-installed patches are pretty average, but surely better soundbanks are available.
I bought this new when it came out, was sitting for years. I have been using regular keyboards all these years with all the sounds of coarse. Does this unit have better sounds than the conventional musical Yamaha keyboards out there these days? I lost the manual to this, I will see if I can DL it. Any other ideas will help and your thoughts. Nice Video as well!!
JPC The manual is available directly from the korg us site. To my opinion the old synths don‘t have such powerful effect sections like the synths today. I would ever suggest to use external fx gear to make vintage synths sound better and in the most cases it is a real surprise. I don‘t own a Yamaha synth, the only Yamaha synth I am interested in is the fs1r and of course the vl machines, but the latter ones were real expensive in the 90ies. So I don‘t have a comparison, sorry!
@@phonopollution Wanted to ask you something else. Can I connect this item directly to my keyboard then connect to my receiver or vise versa? I don't use MIDI or MIDI software at all, but can I get the sounds from this unit when I play my keyboard connected to it, then like I said connect it to my stereo receiver inputs? Or can I use the MIDI inputs on this unit then connect it that way to my keyboards...then receiver....know what I mean?
The Kawai K5000 has midi in and out ports. You can connect the midi out port from your keyboard to the midi in port of the k5000. If the midi out port channel of the keyboard is the same like the midi in channel of the Kawai (set this in the global settings) you can play the Kawai with your keyboard. Of course you have to wire the Audio out of the Kawai to a mixer. Is this what you mean? Oh, I mean, it is the same to the 05R/W, it has also MIDI in/ out.
Just connected mine to an arturia and am feeding into the ciat lonbarde cocoquantus… absolutely great
I have two off them, wonderful sounds!
Excellent setup 😍
Very great ambient sounds, amazing! I had the Korg X3/X3R and the sound is very similar to the 05R/W. Your song reminds me of Pink Floyd!
.:very very nice:.

The magic comes with delay and reverb, I use the MOOER ocean machine
Esse aparelho possui banco A e B ?
Does this 05w have the same multiwave forms as 01w?
Do these patches come with the Korg 05R/W?
