My brother, god rest his soul, used to call Logan: Logan “false start” Paulsen. At that time I had no idea that Logan would become my go to source for in depth football talk. Another great segment from you two, and a pleasure to listen.
Run defense is a real issue. We knew that coverage and edge pressure were going to be a problem, but we thought we would be stout up the middle. We have not been.
How was it hard to run up the middle of Ron Rivera defense with the same two guys? Dallas defense with Last year had issues with the middle of the defense when it came down to running. I believe its the design of the defense and it shows on another team...Just a thought!!
Listening to you guys makes me feel a bit better that getting a W on Monday is possible. ITs just how quickly can this defense can come together and play in rhythm. Offense we just need Daniels to trust and hit those tight window passes we can pull the upset. Our corners give me big anxiety though 😮
100%. We’ve got 40 million wrapped up in two guys that haven’t made an impact in two years. I don’t wanna hear about how the scheme affected these two guys. It’s the same thing every single week. They don’t ever make plays, ever!
Kliff KingsBury called a Avgrade play scheme ,when he gets JAYDEN DAIRLS to play like PEUTON MANNING ,quick passes ,draw play action schemes then we will kiss the LOMBARDI
Its clear to see whats wrong with the defensive line. The defense line is spread to wide. Bring the line together. Its hard to play off of each other when you are that far away from your team mate. The line is spreaded so far away from each other they are giving the runner a head of steam before anybody touches him. Its not the players its definitely the Coaches calling a spread style defense on the line. BRING THE LINE CLOSER TOGETHER PERIOD!!!
Thank you Craig you can say their doubles teamed or the TE or Rb is left in to help and if that’s the case less guys are out in the route so why are guys still open and why isn’t our LB’s blitzing when they don’t have anybody to cover
The biggest negative for very good players that fans complain about is how much the player gets paid. If a good player is not making much, everyone loves him, and the fans want him to get paid. If a great player gets paid like Allen and Payne, he can't do enough to continue being appropriated. Mark Rypien is a perfect example. Everyone loved Mark. He was an underpaid superbowl winning MVP, and after the season, all he wanted was a million dollar contract. The whole fan base turned on him and booed him throughout the whole preseason. Basically, he was run out of town. We haven't had a good quarterback since until Cousins was drafted, and the fan base was hell-bent on RG3, who wasn't nearly as good as Cousins. The proof of that is that RG3 couldn't break into a starting QB in the other teams he went to while Cousins is still going strong.
Craig and Logan, thank you for bringing up the DTs running free into the backfield because it was happening so many times I thought I was losing my mind. It looked like the Giants found something early and kept going to it which made them look silly sometimes. Is it as simple as getting used to the scheme?? Tapp will probably be heard inside and outside of the building this week.
I think that was explained when he said the Giants were double teaming the DT's on running plays... Therefore, if they weren't doubled, they were expecting a pass.
Both things happened. Giants doubled a lot and had a lot of good looks to run into b/c they had to play more conservative coverage structures. They also ran some trap/wham/draw stuff that used their aggressiveness against them. Gotta play better, but also h/t to NY for good playcalling on some of that.
@@craighoffman Yes, they do. Thanks for the additional info.. I've been saying for years that the C's need to get over the hump of NYG to get out of the cellar... So I see lots of positives. Friend, I enjoy your videos and have been wanting to say without offending, if you eliminate some "ums and ahs" you could become a terrific game broadcaster! You're very knowledgeable, organized, bright and energetic... p.s. I went to my first "Skins" game in October 1966, and my Dad grew up with Sonny J in NC.
Might as well count this year out, We got killed the first game, Then we played the terrible giants, They scored Three touchdowns And Their kicker got hurt Or we would have lost to the sorry giants, I really don't see any other teams that we can beat with this defense
It's a long road from being the worst defense in the league to just average. They'll get there. Hopefully by end of the season we'll be able to call them medicore.
You guys are downplaying just how bad this defense is. The Giants easily score 30 points in 22 minutes time of possession with a kicker and no punch for a fumble or drop by Nabors. Joe Whitts defense is a dumpster fire.
@@craighoffman They have played two games and are dead last in third down percentage and 31st in sacks. There is no if if if if to them stats smart ass. I also didn’t say y’all said they were playing well, I said you two were down playing just how bad they have been the first two games.
Payne and Allen are just guys. They are better than average but they are not great players. Both are overpaid. As soon as Chase Young and Montez Sweat were traded Payne and Allen disappeared into witness protection.
@@Blood-Fartz the personnel grouping nomenclature, mr. Blood-fartz (is that what it says on your mailbox? The Blood-Fartz?) , identifies what positions are in the offense for a given play. Where they ultimately line up for that play is irrelevant with respect to the act of describing the personnel grouping with this common [modern day] terminology, i.e. in this example, "12 personnel" being shorthand for 1 back two tight ends sets. The same { using some verbal "shorthand" to describe the offensive personnel grouping) can be accomplished by assigning labels for them. If you recall the Madden video game, the 12 personnel was referred to in your playbook as the "Ace" formation.
If you think about it, our defense hasnt been what we thought it would be for a long time. Starting to feel like our DTs are a bit over rated- similiar to the way i feel most seasons. I would love to see them start causing havoc and disrupting offenses. Im sick of watching jon allen run himself out of run plays time and time again when he shoots the gaps. Where is that during pass plays. Get penetration, look for run first then attack the quarterback. And if these dudes dont start tackling better, im gonna lise my mind! Httc

I mean they spoke to multiple reasons why that may have occurred in the video
We've been acting like we have good DTs but the results aren't there, trade Allen for a DB and use Johnny Newton
They need to be unpredictable. That 4-man weak rush isn't cutting it.

our dts are not as good as we think, Allen needs to be traded
Agree

PLEASE!!! He talks tough but doesn't play that way.
Did not think the defense would have an immediate turnaround. I would assume it’s like learning a new language in the NFL.
Side note - Logan whoever cut your hair it's finally perfect!
Got a feeling Allen and Payne going show up tomorrow
They didn’t play together during the preseason. It’s showing up these first few games.
Agree with this
Kliff KingsBury called a Avgrade play scheme ,when he gets JAYDEN DAIRLS to play like PEUTON MANNING ,quick passes ,draw play action schemes then we will kiss the LOMBARDI

And then what happens on the edges, coach?
I think Giants won line play on both sides! They had constant pressure, we had very little! Allen & Payne really MIA 🧐

Overcommitting is a problem in this defense right now and also not tackling right. Keep your feet under you stay square and WRAP UP
Payne and Allen are not playing of each other. Instead they are playing against each other

Not enough shots at the end zone

We need better passing routes also in the red zone they need to run a quick offense scheme a hurry up red zone
Doesn't not having edge rushers hurt the interior lineman

12 personnel? maybe some diagrams would be helpful.
Google it.
One running back, two tight ends
@craighoffman Do those tight ends have to line up on the end of the line or can they split out wide?

Allen is trash never done anything 2 games he’s no threat he’s trash trade em for next years 2nd rounder and 3 rounder
