For my workshop, I bought a bucket with a sealable lid and fitted a cyclone unit. All the dust etc drops into the bin, nothing passes through to Henry- unless I let the bin fill too far! It's surprising how many I see thrown on top of skips by builders, I've picked up a few freebies, a few quid for new carbon brushes and black spray paint and jobs a good un.
@@ReheatedDonut I used the old hoses off my pond vac. To adapt these to the larger cyclone fittings, I just used plastic lemonade bottles and shrunk them to fit with a heat gun
The big hose arrived. Makes a huge difference. Also don't underestimate adding an air freshener 04:28. I threw one in an few days ago and just did a quick bit of vacuuming in the garage. Now it smells lemon fresh rather than of stale dust.
I picked up a used Henry from one of the neighbours. I didn't know about the motor differences but I've discovered it's the 1100W. I want to use it as a shop vac in the garage. I've ordered the big hose. Great video.
I’m looking for a wet dry vac, and this is the first video I’ve seen by you. I love your honesty and clarity. I agree with you about the lower wattage meaning less power. I’ve decided not to waste any more money on new Miele or Dyson, ( I’ve bought three in the past four years, all were rubbish in terms of build, exterior casing and particularly suction) and I only buy second hand now with higher wattage. Thank you for taking the time and effort to give useful information about your Henry.
Thanks for the tips... I converted from 32mm to 38mm everything! The only downside is that I was p'd off when I received an Orange hose, not yelllow as you show and as stated and advertised on Amazon UK. All other accessories through "Beacon" except for the floor/carpet brush-head which is a Heavy Duty unit and slightly larger. The new "Henry" is still powerful enough to lift carpets held in place by "Gripper"... We tried all the cordless but, as you said, trades people rely on these "Henry" machines too! A decent smelly, as you advise, is far better than nothing...
Henry vacuums are cheap in the UK but over here in Canada, you are looking at a price of CA$500. That's not too bad as a commercial canister but for shop work the better solution is Emerson's Ridgid or Workshop Vac brands. I guess you could get just a regular Shop-Vac brand machine too and all three brands come with the option of a plethora of attachments, many of them cross-compatible with each other.
Get the HEPA filter in your links. I have one installed, they are brilliant. Also, use Swirl vacuum bags. They're way better than the Numatic Henry bags but unfortunately a lot smaller. With your older more powerful Henry motor, that large bore hose plus thd HEPA filter and Swirl vacuum bag you'd have a dust extractor better than pretty much anything on the market at a considerably lower price. Oh and by the way, it's actually possible to buy a device that will enable your Henry to come on and off automatically after you switch you power tools on. This will allow you to keep Henry out of the way.
get the nrv-240-11 its the commercial henry, 620 w so excellent power and a 9 ltr capacity. you can tell the difference it has the red bumper around the base.
Hi mate just thought I'd inform you this one is from 2004 as the red rear wheels were introduced in 2004 unlike the black rear wheels from 1981 to 2003 though many machines are from the 90s thought I'd let you know for future reference bud
09:02 I do belive its 2003 as first 2 digits of a serial number corespond to the year of manufacture, and digit 3 and 4 corespond to the week number of that year ( exactly how car tires are dated) it was close enough I suppose.
Henry is by far the best for hard dust and debris especially if u use wide hose attachments there my go to for doing pop ups and after channeled shower trays, indoor screed cuts.
Great video. Interesting that I've got a similar set up. The cen-tec stuff is really useful especially as it fits the bosch stuff too. I think it's only 32mm though
Thanks for sharing as you've just saved me from forking out for the Festool. when I own a Henry and can simply upgrade the hose and filters awesome video thanks again for the golden advice.
Hi Chris, great video. Only thing I'm confused about is that my Henry (HVR200) which is old and is properly powered has a 32mm diameter inlet hose. Will the existing black screw-on ring fit around the replacement 38mm hose? Its thread diameter is 58mm.Thanks for the video. I really wanted to know about the adapters - thanks for the link. Can you make another video about the adaptors?
On the metal pole there is a plastic collar that you can turn that makes a hole and it makes it pull less on the carpet. There is no actual pressure adjustment on the machine itself.
I use plastic lemonade bottles. Cut off the top, hit it with plenty of heat and the plastic bottle shrinks to fit. Makes a great, cheap, home-made adapter.
Can you tell me how your m8 used the cen tec click adaptors with the hose you recommend, I ordered the hose and all the adaptors I need and they don't fit, the cen tec is for 32mm hoses, the yellow hose is way bigger, so it's £35 wasted
With the larger 38mm dia hose is the threaded end and the other end hole size the same as the original 32mm hose, as your Amazon link does not include my HVR 200A model?
literally every sander and powertool for that matter has a different size outlet so you may need an adapter. That isnt specific for Henrys but every vacuum and dust extractor out there.
I haven't bought any for a year or so. I bought so many when they were on offer in Tesco and I only use the Henry for my mitre saw now. It would be interesting to find out though.
Most definitely. It is just as powerful as my Festool dust extractor. Builders have used Henry Vacuums for years for rubble, brickdust etc. I would get some of the hepaflow henry bags and it would be perfect.
Just bought a Henry nuematic 160. I onky have hard floors but lots of biggish rugs. Find the normal head is far too strong and lifts the rugs off the floor. I am elderly and need simplicity. Which tool, if any, should I use for rugs? Grateful for any advice.
Hi Cynthia. On the metal pole there should be a thing which you turn and it let's air in. I believe that will lower the suction for when you are finding it too powerful. I know the feeling, they can be too powerful sometimes.
I have used those before. They are great for cleaning the house but not good for things like dust extraction in my woodworking workshop. The particles are too small that they escape the zip on the bag and make a mess. They are also not HEPA rated. You are right though and I would recommend them for day to day cleaning.
The great thing about this video and channel is that there are so many enthusiasts in the comment section who would be able to advise you better than I can. I am no expert in Numatic vacuums but many in this comment section are.
Obviously the end of the hose is alot bigger than standard what sort of attachment will fit this for sanders etc plus this don't fit the standard hoover attachments
That would all depend on the size of the port on the sander. I can't give you a specific answer as every single sander is different. Every single tool is different. I have 4 Sanders and the original Henry hose didn't fit on any of them. Every one of my power tools has a different size port and it is really frustrating. You can actually get adapters that change any sizes as I have seen them on ebay. Personally I make adapters for the tools that I use Henry for as I have so many tools. As for the standard hoover attachments, yes they don't fit as the port is bigger. There are bigger wands out there but again I made my own with some plastic pipe. As it only takes a couple of seconds to swap the hoses over and the hose being so cheap, I would recommend having both hoses. For the likes of a sander, the smaller diameter hose would be good as you don't need as much suction. For something like a mitre saw I would recommend the bigger hose. If you are clearing up on a job site then I would suggest the bigger hose as the port is bigger and allows you to hoover up larger pieces. Sorry for the long reply, I have tried to help as much as I can.
@@christopherinteriors6521 thank you for your reply. I'll have a play round with it I just got the different filter you put in your post and and the smellys to go in hoover what a difference cheers mate
I would try to find a second hand older model as they have more powerful motors. You can usually find these on ebay or facebook marketplace for under £50.
Sorry to hear that. I would add that it is probably due to the extraction port on the tool rather than the extractor itself. Although I don't ever do chasing myself, I have seen electricians use my own and they have really praised it. Have you upgraded the hose?
I don't know a huge amount about the model numbers. This one is made from mix and match parts that were lying around at Numatic. The head has a different motor inside to which it should have and the base again is different.
If you are going by the label on his head yes. He has had a replacement plastic head a few years ago as the previous one had some damage. The internals are older apart from a new old stock motor. Henry says thanks for pointing that out though, he likes to feel younger. 😂
@Numaticfan08 If you check my newest video - episode 2, towards the very beginning you will see than he is no longer Henry either. He has been renamed!

I would nowadays purchase a numatic Charles or George for extracting. The modern Henry’s are great for general vacuuming.
Thank you for your video. I'm trying to make extractor with cyclone (DIY). Your video is very helpful. 👍

You can get Charles too, which is geroge without the pump and carpet cleaning
I have a Charles but he only gets used for wet stuff/ cleaning out the van. I never use him for dust collection though.
Do the original tools still fit the upgraded hose or do you have to buy new snd or an adapter to make fit. Thanks for the tips

I have a Henry - the standard hose is 38mm diameter. Why is the yellow hose better?
the standard hose is 32mm
