I’m old….75😊not grumpy😂 and never intitled😊🎉🎉….you are the best! I’d love hanging out with you! But I’m in Texas😢 love love your channel….my VERY FAVORITE! Be blessed sweet one and keep on keepin on!
Like you, I avoid confrontation - makes life far more stress free. But sometimes, it's unavoidable, so we go into fight or flight mode, and our stress level sky-rockets. Best to come home, sit at the craft table, and create some beautiful things.
My father in law was a grumpy old Italian man. 😂 He had explosive anger. He would break into Italian and I couldn’t understand him. Sorry for your morning. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Rachel for sharing. Glad that making pretties makes you feel good. Try not to let grumpy people get to you we don't no if things are bad and they are suffering. They may also have mental illness so just best to say nothing. Then they won't upset you I do understand its not fair for him to push in front of you. Just stay safe and remember it's only a couple of extra minutes to wait. Better that than being bullied or injured. Stay safe lovely and your kindness is much appreciated by all your friendly viewers we love you xxxx
You did the right thing by saying something to him. People like him probably do this sort of thing all the time and people don’t question them. When I question people I usually say, we’ll you must be way more important than the rest of us, so by all means go ahead, and I end it with have a great day and a big smile.
I'm sooo excited you watched my video Rachel🤗🤗🤗 it seems like other people's stash inspires me more than my own🤔 sorry you had a bad "encounter" that morning, it really can throw your whole day off, but you recovered beautifully and made some gorgeous envelopes!!! ♥️♥️
Envelopes are my favorite! I’m glad you worked on these today. Hope you are feeling better. That grumpy man likely doesn’t have the slightest idea what effect he had on you. I can surely relate to what you said about watching other’s videos. I get so inspired by other artists, but sometimes wonder why people would buy my journals when there are so many talented makers out there. Good thing I love making them so much. That always keeps me going! 😊🌷
When I come in contact with grumpy, aggressive people I just tell them that I will pray for them. That usually stops them in their tracks or at least they think about it during the day. Love your videos and I received the rag paper and journal kit with the book cover and I love them. Thank you so much.
In my former life as a hospital administrator, we called interactions with people like your angry old man a “negative energy transfer.” I had to learn to deflect them or my day or week would be ruined. The behavior is all about them and nothing about you. I always said my thanks that I didn’t have to live with the person! But it can be upsetting. Good to focus on the nice lady who understands you have lots of work to do. Love the video with the original documents! I really enjoy Leslie’s videos too. Anita in Chicago
Gorgeous work Rachel 😍 I know what you mean about certain entitled old people! I remember an older woman pushing in front of my son & daughter once for ice cream! My daughter said 'excuse me, I think we were first,' & the woman shouted 'children should let older people go first!' 😆 For ice cream! 🍦 lol, you can never please some people, don't worry 😉 They must be miserable, and you make so many people happy 💗
Hello Rachel, real pretty ephemera, thanks for sharing them. Your story reminded me why my son was about 2 and we had a very grumpy & rude person behind us in line at the grocers' and my son gave the woman a big smile and he offered her his pacifier. Everyone in line started chuckling and the woman even cracked a smile.
Thank you for all your hard work!! Try not to let the “negative Nelli’s” out there bring you down. Karma will get them in the end. Love everything you do, which is amazing! 💕🥰💕
I’m so sorry your morning started out in such a way. If he had been a gentleman he would have directed you to go ahead. I work in a retail sales position. I try to greet every customer that comes in the door. Many do not even acknowledge my greeting. When working at the register there are some that probably should not have left their home. I know we all have bad days but I sincerely try to not take my mood with me to work or wherever I might be going. Aggressive people are difficult to deal with…in my many years of working with the public I have learned to just finish with those types as quickly as possible. Just smile your way through it. 😊
Oh Rachel, I'm glad you have us to come home and vent to. I hope you feel better after telling us. Getting it out usually helps. As Barbara said below, that man was no gentleman and he probably thinks very lowly of all women and has been that way his entire life. You definitely didn't deserve that. He knew he was in the wrong and "how dare a woman question me" So good for You, Rachel! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💐 Love these Lil projects today, and Leslie is a hoot to watch. She does make adorable things.
Rachel - thank you for using your real ephemera. I have a tub of business ephemera and need to find ways to use it. Thanks for recommendations of new channels too. Hope your bad experience is soon forgotten. Sorry you had it.
Unfortunately there are a few grumpy old men and women everywhere. I too have met a few and like you mostly when queuing for somewhere and it takes me a while to get it out of my system too but we do.. crafting is a marvelous way of taking you to a better happy place. Loved the pieces you made today as always, thank you 😊
My goodness, it is so upsetting running into a disagreeable person like you did. Glad you are feeling better. This video reminded me about the two envelope or letter diary journals I made a while back. It's just envelopes I made and decorated and put goodies inside and the envelopes are loose inside a journal cover that is kind of like a folder. Great fun and came out really pretty.
Hi. Rachael, I love what you did with the old papers, like magic you turned them into beautiful ephemera! I totally get how you feel after being yelled at by a senior citizen. Just think, you have so many that love you, and not just your family but us out here around the world. So today I’m sending you good, positive, vibes & a hug. 🥰
Such a lovely video thank you. I get too 'precious' with historical ephemera materials and then I am paralyzed by indecision. Now I can just say myself that I will add something 'pretty' and it will make it easier. Thank you. As for the grumpy old boy, in a similar situation I just say 'I am sorry you are so unwell today', and much like Susan Lowe's response, they usually stop mid rant!
I feel ya! I will never understand people being rude and aggressive right out of the gate. Just so's you know...I'm old/65 and I FREELY describe* such people as 'grumpy old man' or 'cranky old lady'!!! If the description fits, it fits. *(never to their face, of course because I hate confrontation and nasty people, too!)
The fashion page from the 1800’s could be used to make a page similar to one from Barbera (?) Johnson’s sewing diary. Do you remember when you made some of those? You could use some “Leslie clusters”.
Love this envelope cluster…lovely! I’m sure you have been told this many times, but I would enjoy so much being your neighbor and craft with you and shop at your wonderful shops with you.. I would feel so privileged!
I know of a phrase ....”rent free in your head”..... do not empower anyone that. Easier said than done. You, dear friend, have every right to ship as many items that you need to despite others. The entire world is in a higher level of tension, thus, as individuals, I know for me, that I need more patience than ever before in my life. LOVE YOUR ENVELOPES. 💜
Hi Rachel so sorry that you had to deal with the grumpy man. Thank you for another inspirational video and looking forward to receiving the ephemera pack. J ❤️
Oh no! What a horrible man! You did not deserved that ❤ In Sweden we are very good at standing in line but when I worked at the farmacy people could do the most upsetting things. I remember I cryed one time when a lady had a tantrum because I did not give her the medicine fast enough 😒 People can be so rude! ❤ Hugs
I love the envelope cluster thingy ❤ I am so sorry to hear about your morning ☹ But glad that crafting helped a bit! I hope the rest of your day was better! 💕
Sweet Rachel! You feel All the Feels! I am the same way. Try not to let unhappy people affect your heart. 😔 So happy that a crafting session helped lift you up!
Thank you Rachel for this inspirational video. I REALLY do love watching you work, even though you say you change your mind in 3 seconds ............... you make me smile and inspire at the same time. So glad you have recovered from your "funk", you do get these awfully arrogant and rude people everywhere, and I can understand how you feel. I also get so anxious at any confrontation, especially with strangers. ANYHOOOOO............... so glad you are not abandoning us for pastures greener, we would miss you and then WE would be in a great FUNK. Blessings and hugs and many thanks from Cape Town. Diana
Bits and pieces are the best! I am sorry u had a hard morning with mr grumpy pants! It amazes me often how badly some people can behave and somehow make it your fault and not theirs! Hope that was the worst part of your week and the rest has been amazing!
This was inspiring. Had I gotten a bundle from you instead of falling asleep, I would be making these. My Long Haul Covid is not really getting better but I am fortunate not to have gotten it as seriously as some people. Wow am I sorry that you had such a horrifying experience at the post office. I don't know if I would have known what to say. I am old but I always say to put a smile on your face even if you don't feel like it and you will be better off. People should always try to be kind. Take care Rachel💖💖💖💖
That's scary! Those people are the ones you hear about going off & killing people! Be careful Rachel! I don't blame you for getting so upset! Thank you for telling us. I hope your day continued to improve. 🙂❤
I agree with you about aggressive people. I had an encounter recently regarding covid. I coughed into my elbow and he went on and on about being really venerable if he were to contract covid. After he left I said to the cashier, "Well he can't be too worried about covid. His mask was only covering his chin!"
Hi Rachel, these are great ideas, love them. I use old book blank pages and create little folders. That envelope cluster is so me! Your aggressive man story is why I hate going to the post office. Today at the grocery store a woman smiled at me and I had forgotten what that was like. Of course I smiled back but nice people are getting rare!
Crafting is a great soother to the soul, and I'm so glad it worked for you. Sadly it's not possible to completely avoid the unpleasant people, and I empathise with how you felt (having been there myself). Love all the old ephemera. Wish it was easier to come by here in NZ. Looking forward to your next installment.
When I worked in retail and I had grumpy customers, I would tell them to have a nice day with a big smile. They would either shut up or stomp away and the other customers would have a good chuckle. We can't please everyone. Your videos, I love them! Thank you for sharing with us!
I’m sorry you had that happen to you. Yes, some people of the older age think that because they are old they have rights and they can say anything they want. I hope you have a better rest of your day!
I hope you watched Leslie's video about a tag for Heather. Everything she says in that applies to me as well. It's a big shout out to you and i couldn't agree more. Thanks from Machteld form the Netherlands (the icon is my son's)🙂
Hi Rachel, glad we could help! 😊 I'm the same way, I just want to crawl away... but after lots of customer service training to deal with just this type I learned to de-personalize it. I'm sure it's not me he's really mad at, it's his day. So I would say something like, you're obviously having a tough day why don't you go next. And smile straight in his face. If he continues to yell after that turn away and ignore him, maybe even fake a phone call.
So glad your mood improved...anytime we can help, we'll be there for you! Love all your old bits!!! Thanks Rachel, looking forward to more old bits ideas!!!!
The envelope cluster is a wonderful idea. Other than stuffing them, I’ve always been at a lost as what to do with them. This idea is perfect and it uses the little bits that done stand alone. Thanks 🙏
An envelope cluster, I love the idea of that... I can't get the old, old stuff here as you know... we are way too young of a country for that... and I missed out on your ephemera packs, I hope you will do more... Cheers for sharing x
Thank you for another very creative and fun project. I love your video's so much, they are so inspiring. And I love the way you do the videos, it's feels like we are in the same room crafting together. I'm so sorry about 'ole Mr Grumpy. That kind of stuff really bothers me too. My husband will say "why does it bother you, you didn't do anything wrong." To be truthful, I guess it's just really hurts my feelings. I need to have a tougher skin, but I'm afraid it's not in my personally to toughen up. My Mom said when I was a child even if she just said my name in, maybe a surprised tone, I would right away think she was mad and I'd run off to my room. (My Mom was a very gentle person, very seldom did I ever hear her raise her voice.)
Sorry your day didn’t get off to a good start with the grumpy old fella! What a miserable life he must lead. Sad really. Anyway, you certainly brightened my day with your chitchat and beautiful creations! Thanks. I’m looking forward to the next video! X
Rachel, I had something similar in Lidl car park: a horrible man told me I should have given him the right of way, even though he was going the wrong way! He told me I should learn how to drive properly and insisted he was right. I got so cross and very upset. Hope you are feeling better now. Sending a hug.
Oh my goodness Rachel, I am so sorry that you had to go through that. I hope it wasn't when you were sending my parcel. Sometimes it seems that people are super aggressive when they know they are wrong. The meaner and louder they are then the less likely we nice people are to challenge them. Of course then there are those people who just believe they are entitled, old and young I think. Enough of this. Lovely video. You always brighten my day. Hugs.
Rachel these are probably some of my favorite type of cut. I get stuck sometimes with what to do with this type of ephemera and your videos help me so much! I have never seen an envelope cluster before and I am in love!!!! Thanks for sharing!❤️
Oh Rach. I’m sorry to hear, about that. I’m the same way! I don’t like mean people. N it’s awful how people R now a days. They R so entitled, n Nasty. I walk away. ( gives me anxiety) people like that! U do beautiful tags n All u Do!
Your confrontation reminds me of a visit to Kolkata. My daughter and I were in a queue for the bank. For security you had to wait outside. A flash young Indian chap in a western suit came up and pushed in. In my best English I explained there was a queue. He pretended not to understand. Luckily for me all the Indians, in local dress, started shouting at him to behave properly in front of English ladies and made him join the back. Confrontations are upsetting, just think though of all the kits you’ve got to post after your hard work collating them. ❤️❤️❤️
A great big hug to you. Those kinds of people are just awful. I've had my fair share of aggressive people both in person and on the phone from working in sales for years. I've gotten better with experience, but I don't like it one bit. I always try to say what's on my mind though in a nice manner. I've often said "I talk to you in a nice and polite manner, I certainly expect you to do the same". Often they look or sound fumbled and things calm down. On the phone I've said that I will hang up and they can call back when they can talk nicely... (with my boss' "permission")... Anyway, hope you are feeling better. Take care - and kick his bum from me next time you see him LOL
I sure hope you’re day got better. I’m sorry you ran into a person who was really short and cranky. I hope tomorrow will be a better day. Have a blessed Day Sandra
SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AT GGHE POST OFFICE , BUTJUST REMEMBER JUST VIEWERS CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR VIDEOS AND IT MAKE MY DAY AND OTHERS, 😄😄😄😄😄😄, SO I HOPE YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY AND KEEP SAFE AND CAN'T WAIT FODD YOY R NEXT VIDEO
Totally understand... today face book censored me...said i put up a lie...i did not .. i won't bother with it. but now my posts will be placed at the bottom as i am unimportant....this will affect my business pages as well as group notifications...all it was was a sweet vintage image of a baby with a note from a doctor from the 1940's , to the new mom about how to and what to place in her baby's formula, that during that era was how they did...I was raised on this recipe myself in 1952 also by my mother, so how could it be a lie?! I should have copied the image, I never imagined they'd take it down, and punish me...I wanted to use the image of the baby in my journals...I am devastated and humiliated..and now angry! So lucky fom that grumpy old man he didn't run into me, a grumpy old woman today~ hahahah. I hate confrontation with a passion and I may be old, but I can always find something nice to say to people or keep it to myself...I would never put a lie on face book on purpose!!! Can you imagine?!!! Like your ephemera that you made today...thanks for sharing.
Sorry you had a rough start to your day. Since pandemic it seems more and more people feel "entitled " regardless of age. What happened to kindness. Take care.
I’m old….75😊not grumpy😂 and never intitled😊🎉🎉….you are the best! I’d love hanging out with you! But I’m in Texas😢 love love your channel….my VERY FAVORITE! Be blessed sweet one and keep on keepin on!
Thank you so much 😊
Can't take the Aussie out of the girl...tracky daks hahahahaha. I wo der what people who are not Aussies think lol.
Like you, I avoid confrontation - makes life far more stress free. But sometimes, it's unavoidable, so we go into fight or flight mode, and our stress level sky-rockets. Best to come home, sit at the craft table, and create some beautiful things.
Thank you so much 😊
My father in law was a grumpy old Italian man.

I’m sorry you had that happen to you. Yes, some people of the older age think that because they are old they have rights and they can say anything they want. I hope you have a better rest of your day!
Thank you so much 😊
I hope you watched Leslie's video about a tag for Heather. Everything she says in that applies to me as well. It's a big shout out to you and i couldn't agree more. Thanks from Machteld form the Netherlands (the icon is my son's)🙂
Thank you so much 😊
Hi Rachel, glad we could help!
Thank you so much 😊
So glad your mood improved...anytime we can help, we'll be there for you! Love all your old bits!!! Thanks Rachel, looking forward to more old bits ideas!!!!
Thank you so much 😊
I know exactly how you feel, It takes me awhile to get over things.
Where have the Gentlemen gone?
Great video
Thank you so much 😊
The envelope cluster is a wonderful idea. Other than stuffing them, I’ve always been at a lost as what to do with them. This idea is perfect and it uses the little bits that done stand alone. Thanks 🙏
Thanks so much! 😊
An envelope cluster, I love the idea of that... I can't get the old, old stuff here as you know... we are way too young of a country for that... and I missed out on your ephemera packs, I hope you will do more... Cheers for sharing x
Thank you so much 😊
Genius idea! Thanks for sharing 😍💕🌴
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for another very creative and fun project.
Thank you so much 😊
I so enjoyed these ideas. Thank you 💕
Thank you so much 😊
Sorry your day didn’t get off to a good start with the grumpy old fella! What a miserable life he must lead. Sad really. Anyway, you certainly brightened my day with your chitchat and beautiful creations! Thanks. I’m looking forward to the next video! X
Thank you so much 😊
Rachel, I had something similar in Lidl car park: a horrible man told me I should have given him the right of way, even though he was going the wrong way! He told me I should learn how to drive properly and insisted he was right. I got so cross and very upset. Hope you are feeling better now. Sending a hug.
Thank you so much 😊
I am so sorry your day started out badly! Some people have no manners! I love listening to you and watching your videos! I hope your day gets better!🥰
Thank you so much!!
Hugs.
Thank you so much 😊
I’ve just splashed out on a kit, I’m becoming obsessed with vintage and antique ephemera and books. Thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️
Rachel these are probably some of my favorite type of cut. I get stuck sometimes with what to do with this type of ephemera and your videos help me so much! I have never seen an envelope cluster before and I am in love!!!! Thanks for sharing!❤️
Thank you so much 😊
Oh Rach. I’m sorry to hear, about that. I’m the same way! I don’t like mean people. N it’s awful how people R now a days. They R so entitled, n Nasty. I walk away. ( gives me anxiety) people like that! U do beautiful tags n All u Do!
Thank you so much 😊
Your confrontation reminds me of a visit to Kolkata.
Thank you so much 😊
I sure hope you’re day got better. I’m sorry you ran into a person who was really short and cranky. I hope tomorrow will be a better day.
Have a blessed Day
Sandra

Take care.
Thank you so much 😊
Who needs to do exercise tapes when you can run up the stairs?
