Stevie Wonder was the first artist I heard recording with the Talkbox. Then Rufus, featuring Chaka Khan. Well before I heard of Peter Frampton, who really highlighted it with “Do you feel like i do?” Hancock also used it on a album in the late 70’s.
It was made for the pedal steel then used on radio shows as an effect and then it really got popular when Bob Heil made one for Joe Walsh to use while he was touring. That same talk box was the one Peter Frampton used on Frampton Comes Alive. So no it was not developed for keyboards
Yo why is it that back then everyone had the banshee but now everyone has the MXR, the MXR came out around the same time the banshee 2 came out and the banshee 2 was more popular than the MXR at that time but now why is it that these days the MXR is more popular than the banshee 2, not tryna be rude I’m just confused
Mikael Gibson that’s awesome. So all you need is the keyboard and the pedal? Then if you want to amplify the sound you can have a mic and some speakers?
You can actually use any keyborad you want as long as it has a dry sawtooth patch but in terms of sound quality and popularity for the talkbox the microkorg and the yamaha dx 100 is the best! They are just around $350 on amazon and ebay

Re: 3… it depends on the unit… if you use the original Dunlop Heil HT-1 you do need an amp to drive the internal speaker as it doesn’t have an onboard amp like the MXR or other newer units.
You need a mic if you wanna play live or record it for your tracks but if you just want to play around with it at home or practice you don't really need a mic :)
Hello! Can someone tell me how to record the talk box signal with a microphone if im using a Midi controller and a plug-in? An audio interface with many outputs would be enough?
I just received mime today but when I talk through it the sound doesn't change like it didn't fuse with my voice regular note sounds come out of my tube without fusing with my voice
Just keep on practicing! If I'm gonna give a tip, try to talk to the tube without using your actual voice coming out-- you just mouth into. No voice coming out, but just air. I know it's tricky but I hope it made some sense to you. Good luck! :)
So i just got one of these today and i'm trying to record it into my MPC but it only plays out of the pedal and the audio isn't going into the drum machine. Do i need to buy a microphone to record the talk box itself?
requiring 1000 mA at 18V.... has anyone out there found a power supply brick that can actually power this thing? or are you just stuck with needing to use the supply that comes with it
put the output of the ableton into the input of the talk box. stick the tube into the back of your throat until you are choking on it. grip the tube with one side of your back teeth. press play on Ableton and shape the sound or words with your mouth. record the output of your mouth with a vocal mic.
It actually depends on the instrument you're more comfortable on (keyboard, guitar, bass etc) because you can use the talkbox on any instrument (as long as you can plug it in there)!
Yup, I'm pretty sure you could, you'd just need a more powerful talk box, I've been eyeing up a crazy powerful box called the talkstar. A talk box, in a nutshell, is just a speaker in a box with a pipe coming off it, so almost any source will work (with most modern boxes), you just need something with the oomph to push the bass frequencies. ruclips.net/video/FneJF479gSo/видео.html That video is of a guy trying a talkstar and he plays a C1 around the time I linked, that is approx. 32hz, the open E string on a 4 string bass is an E1 at approx. 41hz. While I can't say for sure, based on the frequencies it produces in that video, a bass should work no problems, however, you might get somewhat puny results with a direct or clean bass signal. I would suggest that bass -> buzz/fuzz pedal -> talk box would give you good results. In the video I sent the guy isn't even using a mic in front of his mouth to amplify and the volume it produces is evident in every video I've seen. Worst case you would use a mic as most talkboxes usually require. Not sure how long you could comfortably play before your throat went numb from the vibrations though, you might shake you fillings out! XD Edit: Just found this example of a bass through talkbox, even sounds like it has the buzz/fuzz on it, but as you can see, the box he has is chonky, like the talk star, so you clearly need one with some serious power. (ruclips.net/video/umnxhsOzdo4/видео.html)
It would sound better if you used an instrument instead of software. Bro your video title is a total lie, and doing so while claiming religion and Gospel. Dude you are really dishonest.

"Pretty obvious he wants you to use the software instead of the MXR talk box" Yeah, he also reccomends HARDWARE at different points in the video... 4:14
It's a compression speaker driver with a tube on the end of it and that is all it is. Fun to chew on the tube and suppress the gag reflex. You should try it. Get a real talkbox driven by an amp head and you can loosen your fillings.
Why is he smoking a piano
Underated
that’s a keytar
Brush, you've never smoked until you've smoked a piano
Music is healthy u should smoke as much as u can!
It's called vaping.
Correction: It was developed for keyboard first. Guitars took it over.
Steadily Onward Correction: He was correct! It was developed for guitars first. Invented by a guitarist!

reggiochis facts Pete drake was first
Ooo I really want that comparison. I'm a guitarist borrowing my keyboard friend's talk box.
His natural voice is already like 65% there.
There is no voice, only mouth movement. The voice is produced by talkbox, instead of your own vocal cords
@@726f6f74 I think it was a joke bruh
We need to "Weird Al" Yankovic to make a talk box for an accordion.

I've wondered that as well. I used a rocktron for several years. I'm interested in this one now
What about maintenance like cleaning ?
How often do you clean it ?
These used to come with cancer warnings. I know Roger Troutman had respiratory issues because he used his so much.
Really wish you had of did a demo on the guitar as well. I doubt there is alot of people rocking a Keytar these days.
Plenty of people are rocking a keyboard though
Actually never heard of talk box before, that's a pretty cool device. I wonder how throatsinging would've sounded like with a talkbox, probably awful.
It wouldn’t sound like anything, cause when you use a talk box you’re not using your voice, it’s like making mouth shapes on the speaker of your phone
So with this exact talkbox, does it have a built in pre amp. Do i not need a separate amp?
John Arnold it has a built in amp.
Mikael Gibson that’s awesome. So all you need is the keyboard and the pedal?
Then if you want to amplify the sound you can have a mic and some speakers?
John Arnold yes
John Arnold that’s why I like the MXRM 222 it’s simple to use

The Talkbox is ancient and sacred!!! Look up videos from years back for proper tutorials on how to use. Great job on the VST tho
Maybe this leech should put the VST in the title of his sleazy video, since that is what he is really about.
