Im very much aware of reality, im not saying there werent problems n im def not saying the world would be perect if we went back in time. But i was a child living an extremely happy carefree life. Personally for me its those feelings i long to get back..not necessarily the 90s itself. I also would love to go back to be able to be around family members that i have lost since then. Something that I note is the difference between the colors and designs from malls in the 90's, many like this one were more earthy, brownish and some were more colorful, Memphis-style. But nowadays you feel like you are in a freaking operating room, everything is so sterile, bright and white. Can't help to think that it might influence people's behaviour and how they feel.
I’m so glad somebody thought to record the everyday mundane happenings of the mall. While the world wasn’t perfect at that time, it does seem a little more simpler which is nice. Thanks for sharing this!
If you watch the 1997 high school video (just five years later) you’ll notice that fashion and styles changed very quickly. The 70s, 80s, and 2000s were all relatively consistent in music and fashion, but if you compare early 90s, to mid 90s, to late 90s it all seems like different decades
Got married that year…wish my husband and I could go back and relive those times again! So much optimism for the future…More and more I don’t feel like I belong anywhere anymore, but I suppose a lot of Gen X feels that way.🤷🏻♀️

Man, what it was to be a kid in the mall in '92. Spending hot Southern California afternoons hanging with my friends at the arcade, the food court, Sam Goody, etc. Not a phone in sight. People watching for an afternoon with your friends made you feel like the world was yours and that time stood still. I'm 37 now. You never know that you're in the good ol' days until they're over.
Everybody always talks about the fashion and no social media. But all I can think about is that people could go places and not have to worry about mass shootings happening. That’s something that I truly miss!
The obesity crisis hadn’t set in yet but you can see signs of its beginning in this video. The 90s was our last best decade as a nation. Thanks for uploading.
I was 25 in 1992, maybe that's why I think this way, it's hard to explain, but the women seemed to be so much prettier. I don't know if it's as simple as the hair styles or style of dress. It seems that most of the women carry themselves so much better back then. They're walking straighter, more confidence, smiling more....
I recommend taking a look at U.S. obesity rates over time. In addition to this, western women have become more masculine which many men find unattractive.
@@NateDohDoubleGee Agreed. I'm gay so don't care that much but I have less female friends as time goes on. Why? Used to be to get the feminine energy. Also I see less and less fashion as time goes on, people generally look worse
@@istvanpraha That's an interesting perspective and one I would have never thought about, but it makes a lot of sense. Dating women now is somewhat a double edged sword. Some things are faster/easier but definitely less wholesome and mostly empty. I recommend staying gay.

This is the first of these videos where I’ve actually been in the mall featured in person! We lived 3 hours from here in the 80s and early 90s and would maybe once a year travel to this mall…it was bigger than ours, as I recall. This was amazing to watch.
It's nice to see that the glory of the 80's was still around in 1992, the hair, the clothes and the accessories. People were wearing more denim and cotton tops with simple designs and straight-cut pants. I don't like the tapered styles that both men and women are wearing nowadays, especially the dystopian style sweatpants that people walk around in.
I was 10 years old that year and have many memories of my parents taking me to our local mall and walking around. Amazing how different the world is today. I feel like I live in some kind of alternate reality today or something and that at some point I'll wake up in my bed in 1992 and it was all just some kind of strange twisted dream.
1992, age 20. I was in college, working part-time and dating regularly. But my local malls were still my sanctuaries. Ny typical 1992 look was short frizzy hair, bombet jacket, Guess jeans, and a cool t-shirt.
Love the brightly colored vintage pieces you see here, whether it's the family at 0:03, the sweater at 1:14, the multi-colored top at 1:45, the yellow blue top at 2:40, the mother's outfit at 3:29, or the older woman's Mondrian top at 3:58. You have a sense of a distinct style of bright dynamic colors that I haven't come across in other videos on this channel from this era, and you can understand why the grunge look of Kurt Cobain's worn, faded thrifted clothes had such an impact.
I just love love love women’s fashion of the early 90s . Like it was its own fashion . To me it was all casual ,cute ,colorful and comfortable! Literally every lady/girl I seen on here just dressed cute to me . Nothing fancy or ritzy . Just a simple day at the mall. I would wear all their outfits myself ! Even the grannies !
I always find myself wishing I’ll recognize either a family member or younger version of myself. Does anyone feel that way while watching these videos?
That early 90s White suburban mom hairdo was just awful. Not sure why almost literally every woman had it. At 3:22 is the 1 single brunette with really nice hair, even for 2024. Probably the single only legit hot woman in 1992 lol!
nah, just watch 90s movies and you'll see how hot women were then. As well as the 80s. So much more feminine. (I was one of them, as I'm now a 61 year old woman! ) :D

No cell phones, no neon fkn hair, no stupid face tattoos - just normal people. I hate what this world has become.
Do you think someone from the 1950s/60s said the same thing about 1992, minus the cell phones and face tattoos, of course.?..
Crime was out of control then. We were in a terrible recession. Maybe you should cheer up ?
@EdwardWeissbard I don't remember anyone having cellphones in 1992, other than maybe an occasional very wealthy person with a car phone. Don't see anyone with a cellphone in this video, either... It's incredibly refreshing, actually.
This comment has gotten so fkn old…
It sounds like the problem is you being too judgmental. Re-read your comment and do some reflecting on why you hate that you cannot control the will of others.
Hard to believe this was 32 yrs ago,I was 27, time does fly by quickly,l do miss these times.living and looking back society is so different. Love your channel❤️
I was in 6th grade in '92. I remember these hair and clothing styles so well. I miss this era of time. Being a kid was awesome in the 80's and early 90's. I'm so glad I got to experience it firsthand!
Wish i could be late 90s too be teenage is also much better than be teenage in early 2020s.
The early 90's was a amazing time to be a kid I miss this era so much from the music to the arcade fighters and consoles to the old school computers.
Mid-late 90s is also better to be a teenage and be adult in early 00s is MUCH better that we expect.
wish we never would’ve left it. I just can’t believe we went from growing up from that to now being in the worst generation I’ve ever seen. people born in this day of age will never understand how good we really had it.
Ah the lovely world we once knew…
Back then everything was good in those days and I was 7 years old in 1992 😊
Thank you for always going back in time to record these videos!
😊
I miss normal life. Now is a nightmare.
I'm almost certain that is exactly what the folks born in the 50s and 60s said about the 90's
@@EdwardWeissbard Born in 65. A kid in the 70s, teen/young adult in the 80s, met my future wife, married and had kids in the 90s. Although life sometimes was not good to me and there were tough times I can say without a doubt, once 2000 hit, society went down hill from there, it just got worse and worse. Once social media came about and screens became more prevalent, things tanked even more.
You have to think too... it will be even a worse of a nightmare in 2056 (another 32 years later) and we will probably be saying the same thing.
So, it remains true....cherish TODAY!
Lmao is always January 1st 2000 everything when down hill and the sun hasn't shinned since @jayiw

Aww 🙏💗 I forgot about this one !
@0:16 That baby girl is now 32 years.
Time be flying tho 😳
All those babies and small children are now in their early to late 30's...mind blown
Not late 30's. I was only 39 a few months ago and I was born in the mid 80's (84) so no. The latest they are right now is early 30's. Like 30- to 32.
@@Goodwillwinoverevil1984no because I was born in 92 and in Nov and I'm still 32 years old now, most them in this video are in their late 30s
On the more morbid side, most of those old folks are more than likely gone now.
@@akxmedia0part of life no one gets out alive

What I wouldn’t do to be able to go back. I also wish I would have listened to all of the advice my grandparents/older adults gave me. I was bestowed with such wisdom, but the disability of being a know it all kid. LOVE THESE VIDEOS. Thank you for the content!
Love these days. Miss them terribly sometimes . Its bittersweet, bc it was such a happy time for me but i know ill never be able to experience it again. I was born in 85 so my childhood was literally the 90s. And no one give me the " stop romanticizing the past" nonsense. Hope that makes sense. Theres a difference between romanticizing the past n simply looking back on the past with fond memories n wishing u could re live it again briefly. Ijs if a 2wk vacation destination was "my childhood in the 90s" id be booking a ticket asap lol.
The 70s, 80s, and 2000s were all relatively consistent in music and fashion, but if you compare early 90s, to mid 90s, to late 90s it all
seems like different decades
True. I did notice that
Same with the 60s. Early 60s looked totally different to the late 60s.
Got married that year…wish my husband and I could go back and relive those times again! So much optimism for the future…More and more I don’t feel like I belong anywhere anymore, but I suppose a lot of Gen X feels that way.🤷🏻♀️
90-94 were my favorite years...'92 was a blast.
Music was the best in the early 90s.
I hear you bro. It wasn't quite so 80s but no so 90s either.
92 was the year of my birth, so that must have been the best year.
Not a soul on a phone and everyone present and respecting the space they're in. I miss this.
Yup no cell phones. But, us teens were on the pay phones calling our parents to come pick us up.
wasn't even born during these times and I am subscribed because it just looks so calm and peaceful and lively and you can just chill with no worry.
my years were the late 90s and early 2000s which people can arguably say were also very good times
as someone born in 2003, i'd argue somewhere between 2015-17 was the last good era
@da_silent_gen_guy yeah lol I was born 2002 I at least got to experience the 2000's.
A much more sane world back then. I miss it greatly!
I always wonder what became of some of these people! And if anyone ever noticed tjselves on these videos!
I was 20. What a great time this was. We had no idea what we were in for.
Love these videos!!! I was 16 then! Wow!!!!!!
Wow, even 1992 still looked like the ‘80s lol I was passed out most of the early 90s.
Yes but then 1993 and 1994 became grunge, gangsta rap and flanalette clothing and it was beginning of downward era.
A lot of 80s culture was still alive and well in the 90s nothing really changed for a while maybe when it got closer to 2000
Dang. I forgot how the early 90s were still so 80's. Lots o' Big Hair.
Yeah we once had a functional civilization.
Well there’s not face tats neck tats and the big hair was still kinda in for about another year..
They knew who they were back then. Now, no one knows the definition of what it means to be a woman 😵
@@NateDohDoubleGee Agreed. I'm gay so don't care that much but I have less female friends as time goes on. Why? Used to be to get the feminine energy. Now many seem angry and masculine and carrying around a bag of grievances and complaints. Rather hang out with guys! Must be a nightmare to date nowadays.
The 80s and 90s had great moments that are being lost
Young people have no idea how different the world was back then. Everybody's so unhappy these days. back then the world made more sense.
Even kids today don’t even know how the world was so disaster like this. I feel bad them even people don’t care as much.
Everybody is so unhappy because the world hasn’t advanced like we should.
The gov wasn't completely corrupt yet but it was well on the way!
@@22lilacsky No, they’ve always been corrupt and have controlled people with their bs. More people are just now figuring them out and demanding better.
@@22lilacskyFinally, a comment that makes sence. It's as If some people don't want to understand that the ones that rule are controlling everything. Completely manipulating society, and some still don't understand. Many people I know can see it now, which is good.
Damn! I hate the nostalgia stuff. But yes, I'm going to do it. I was 19 that year and I do remember those clothing styles from back then. Leftover 80's bright colors toned down, but they were still pretty wild. Ah! I'm an old! And oh man! Miller's Outpost at 1:58
The 80s probably lasted until 1997 in Lubbock.
Nobody realizes how important these throwback nostalgia induced normal videos of day to day life are

No pajamas in public back then
🙄 The only reason to wear pajamas in public is if you or a family member were sleeping while having a medical emergency and are in the ER.
I just saw a grown woman wearing a pajama onesie in the food store today! I couldn't believe it!

This is the first of these videos where I’ve actually been in the mall featured in person! We lived 3 hours from here in the 80s and early 90s and would maybe once a year travel to this mall…it was bigger than ours, as I recall. This was amazing to watch.
Love this! Thanks for Sharing!
You were either a part of this time period or you weren't, im glad i was.
Fun video. It would be interesting to go to that mall today and see how it looks and if there are that many people walking around with shopping bags.
Simple and clean.
Don't forget the other classics, "not a cell phone in sight", "people respected each other" , and "get off my lawn" 🤣
Where's the smoking? I remember that being allowed in malls in 1992.
@@andrewmaximo4485there are people smoking and walking.
people were still rocking 80s style in 92 lol, it changed so quick in the following years
It's nice to see that the glory of the 80's was still around in 1992, the hair, the clothes and the accessories. People were wearing more denim and cotton tops with simple designs and straight-cut pants. I don't like the tapered styles that both men and women are wearing nowadays, especially the dystopian style sweatpants that people walk around in.
Even back then most people were thinner
Miller's Outpost! That was a frequent stop, as was Structure. Great memories, thank you for sharing this wonderful B-roll.
One of those days, back when we were kids, was the last day we met with our friends at the mall… and none of us knew it.
Remember when people didn't act like crazies when a stranger recorded them?
People nowadays are trash. If you walk around the mall nowadays and record, people will lose their shit on you.
I was 27 and living in Lexington Ky shopping at the local mall. Man I miss the 90s.
Malls were better and enormous in these videos.
I was 10 years old that year and have many memories of my parents taking me to our local mall and walking around. Amazing how different the world is today. I feel like I live in some kind of alternate reality today or something and that at some point I'll wake up in my bed in 1992 and it was all just some kind of strange twisted dream.
I wish
We are the same age
The final decade of mall relevance
Ehh give the 2000s some credit
I was born in 92, malls were still very relevant in the 2000s, they only really started dying off around 2009-2010.
I was 28 and young at that time - 32 years later it went like a flash. Now I’m old - we are here for just a nano second to put it into perspective.
I missed out on the 90's at least I can see what it was like. My mom told me a lot about it.
1:49 This kid loves the cam😂
I love your videos! Please upload more soon! Love the 2000’s the best as well as I’m partial to the 90’s
I actually miss going to the mall and getting things in a bag. like carrying a few from different stores. it feels luxury
No tattoos, piercings, all normal. Please, take me back.
Hey 🤨
Now that's truly what I liked about then, no body modification. Even women dressed with a bit of decorum.
Imagine if this was a time traveling live camera feed! 😂
Born and raised in Lubbock, I know exactly where this spot is in the mall. I was 7 at the time!
The past is a foreign country.
(I was one of them, as I'm now a 61 year old woman! ) :D
“People watching at a mall in 1992” and People watching People at a mall in 1992 in 2024 😅
Man these videos make me so glad I was a kid in the 90s. My friend and I used to joke being born 10 years too early. But then I wouldn’t have enjoyed the 90s and a time before social media. Just kids being kids.
I’m reading this comment with vr goggles on.
😢The mall was a great place at one point. Now I don’t ever hardly go anymore. I drive by and memories of days gone by.
Warm interiors, people interacting with each other and not their phones, just an overall chill vibe.
Ha. I was just thinking, “wow, all malls did look alike”. Then i looked in the description, that was my mall when i was 9. Awesome find.
Back when everyone dressed like they were going to the beach 24/7.
Everyone was skinny too.
That's how people dress now, not back then. It was August in Texas and almost everyone is wearing shoes and socks and some are wearing pants. Now it's shorts and sandals even at nice restaurants.
I dig that kid's GUESS ? Shirt @ 3:33
