Honestly out of the entire group CJ was the most pragmatic yet the most caring. He'd already seen enough death and only cared about the survival of the people around him and himself. Who could blame him
Since CJ also was the most stupid idiot, I'm gonna blame him. Dumber than a rock he was convinced of doing the right thing, although he never really understands a basic thing. I suggest CJ as a candidate for the Darwin-Award, also the "I'm dumber than a Rock" Award and also suggest him for the "I'm so selfish, but I don't understand that"-Dunning-Kruger-Award. CJ would win them all withou any effort. Edit: CJ would even win all of the awards if brainless zombies would be allowed to join the compatition. CJ outdumbs the zombies even without trying.
I disagree. They identify the bites where what turned people thanks to the bloated woman. Luda was already infected. Without knowing the bites, she would have turned and started killing them all. If the husband was rational. They could have prevented more people dying and they would be safer.
He is right but there’s no point in living if you’re going to be a coward. There was an equal chance that letting all those people in would be perfectly fine vs letting them all die while you stand idly by guaranteed.
I'm with CJ. He's hot headed but pragmatic. When he pulled the gun I couldn't blame him. At the height of the outbreak there is no time for consideration or sass.
@@jakealter5504 I'd say so. It's got an absurdly good balance for a zombie movie. Other movies might exceed it in individual aspects, but as a whole it's really well rounded.
You also kinda can't blame the group for not listening to him, he was right about everything he was saying, but that attitude and how he threatened everyone,even his own, diminished his credibility

to be fair, it was the pregnant lady situation and her boyfriend that ultimately caused them to try and break out, and they were part of the first group that arrived.

@@Frostknight231 You missed the point. Rick's gun is powerful. but very impractical in the Dawn of the Dead scenario. It is heavier than most sidearms. It has a six-round capacity at max. It has a lot of recoil due to firing a powerful caliber, and it is very loud. It would also take awhile to reload. Most of the things aren't a problem in The Walking Dead due to the zombies being very slow, but in Dawn of the Dead, these zombies will chase you forever, and they don't get tired from running after you. I read that the Zombies in Dawn of the Dead are supernatural in nature, so rigor mortis will never set in, meaning they will always be able to run even after years of rotting. I'd rather take a pistol that can be reloaded fast and has a decent capacity over a revolver that's powerful but slow.
Because these zombies are over-exaggerated and unrealistic. Zombies are slow and stupid. Not The Flash wannabes. The Walking Dead has realistic zombies even though it started airing in 2010.

This was an awesome film. I love how Terry would not turn away other survivors. Zack Snyder should make zombie movie showing what happen to the survivors when they got to that small island at the end of Dawn of the Dead.
It's pretty obvious what happened to em they were out of gas hadn't had food or water for a day or two and encountered a horde as soon as they got off the pier there ain't no way they survived unfortunately
@@dbzlover666actually, neither Zack Snyder nor James Gunn reveals the origin of the outbreak. It could be anything from a virus outbreak to a demonic possession. Either way, they wanted to leave it to the audience.
I always saw the opening scene, where we see the Sun and them the transition to the X Ray as a clue of the origin of the virus. Imo is probably extraterrestrial
Possibly. It definitely is up to your interpretation what caused it much like the Romero films. Virus? Parasite? Supernatural? Alien Weapon? All up to your interpretation
Does anyone notice the door behind the zombie is open at 2:48, then closed at 2:51. I always wondered why they messed up on that part,but other than that, this is my favorite zombie action/horror movie of all time.

they never should have left the mall... the reason for leaving was one person said sitting here waiting to die is worse than dying... no... no its not.. i would much rather starve to death than be ripped to shreds by anything especially zombies that eat you alive no way.. i guess dying outside violently was better than dying inside peacefully
I'm not a scary movie fan, so I don't know that much about Zombie's, but don't they need live humans to feed off of? Wouldn't they all eventually starve off, after they'd ripped into all the living people they could get their little Zombie hands on? Soooooooo, if this it true, by staying in the mall, the humans could just wait it out, until all the Zombies had done whatever their version of dying is.
@@lorigrass1 That's actually a plot point in most Zombie films, the undead will rot out and be unable to move or attack dye too being decayed into nothing but bones. That's why in the Walking Dead, the undead are less terrifying and the same could apply to Dawn of the Dead.
They are lucky it wasn't one of those doors that once you open it, the hinge make it automatically close or shut so you can't open the door from the outside.
to be honest, in a situation like this you gotta HAVE to be like CJ, acting rationally is the key (dont care if they are morally right or wrong, this is survival) emotionally taken decisions lead to dumb ideas, like that stupid dog rescue 1:33 to answer his question, no they dont

Man alive! I watched this film in a South Korean theatre that was utterly packed with people years ago (20 or so?). Anyhow, the effects in a film that was made in 2004 are absolutely fantastic, in my estimation! Particularly the truck above, whacking into zombies...these scenes look utterly REAL to me! Great special effects!! Especially considering this film is 20 years old!
Even though this movie wasn't perfect by any means, the one thing that it perfected was the 'running zombie'. Also even though it's not widely known, Dee Bradley Baker actually voiced all the zombies in this film.
This movie is aging really well. With the junk Hollywood puts out today we get less and less of these cool character moments that are just so much more enjoyable for story telling.
If I ever ended up in a zombie apocalypse, I would rather take my chance going thru it alone, your more at risk of being killed by your "Tribe" than by the zombies themselves. People turn into evil monsters when push comes to shove.

3:14-3:15 After replaying it a couple of times, it sounded like the zombies were saying “move it” and “come here” From it seems that they are still conscious but only left with nothing but primal rage

CJ was right, but letting select survivors (ones you can visually confirm arent injured or turning) could be incredibly useful for various reasons including Information (The Mall survivors didnt know the Fort had fallen until these survivors told them) and various skills the current group might not have
Ana and CJ are the best characters in the movie but I really disagree with you all. CJ was not actually right. If they didn't let those survivors in, Ana wouldn't never make a conclusion: that virus is being passed through bites. Although she already had a thought when his husband got infected but conclusion was come up because of that bloated woman who became zombie because of bites.
This movie started a debate amongst workers. One worker said "since when can zombies run" i replied " its only a movie, we won't know till zombies are real".
The scene of the truck reversing and running over zombies in the face still scares me to this day. What a disgusting scene. The best zombie movie in the world.
To be fair, I understand CJ's point completely. But, if they came in, I would've said to lock them all in a store for the day. The healthy-looking people in one store, locked up; and the sick-looking ones (like the big lady and the bitten father) in the other. We know it doesn't take more than a day before people turn. It happens fairly fast. And at 1:10, I would've tossed that jackass. I don't need that up in here.
Sucks. They could have just rationed everything out. I think if they would have stuck to that, they would have survived to the end of the zombie pandemic, the zombies were clearly decomposing
I know zombies are fictional, but if we were to ever end up in a zombie apocalypse, I hope that we end up with walking dead zombies. Not Dawn of The Dead, not World War Z, slow, Walking Dead Zombies.
The scene earlier on at the house where her family turn scared me shitless I was like 7 when I seen it i had to run to the toilet and throw up 😂 was freaked out for months worrying that it could all happen someday

I didn't like CJ at first but as the movie went on I did. He ended up being a strong character who helped others survive.
They counted him for a lot as well. Carried majority of the weapons and was always last. Not to mention, he tried to save everyone.

By the end of the movie he became a downright hero. Stayed behind and sacrificed his life to buy the remaining survivors time.

Man I remember watching this in the theater, people were going wild.
The funny thing is everyone in that truck died with the exception of Nicole who probably died in the mid credits scene.
