Angie you were close, but you missed it! At 4:10 into the video, you should've taken a RIGHT at the stop sign, and continued to the very top of Thomas St. Here you make a LEFT onto 4th street. THAT is the street everyone is talking about. It's commonly referred to as "Rollercoaster Hill." Go check it out. 😎

So did she not drive up the actual hill that scared her? She talks all about the high school (I assume it's the old brick building on a corner?) but I don't hear much more except Highland Ave.

I've lived on steep hills .. it really makes your legs look good.. no way I could do that now in my older years.. it would kill me.

Wow! Thank you Angie. This brought back a lot of memories. I went to Wade elementary in the 70's, and then Central Jr high. Go cougars! Then the new buccaneers school. I've walked everywhere you were driving 😄. I remember when those old buildings and houses were vibrant and full of life. What a childhood. Picking wild blackberries and strawberries, climbing those mountains on adventure walks, hopping train's, riding skateboards at bluefield state, walking to Tasty freeze, can't believe we used to sleigh ride down those steep hills, (fearless). Truly almost heaven West Virginia 💯✊🏿👍🏿🔥 I moved to Richmond Va in 1983, hated leaving! Tiffany Manor was my home off RT 52. Lived in bluefield VA prior, went to Logan st school. Maaaan I miss bluefield and the City Park, Mitchell stadium where we played our football games.

Great tour of my great city, however 4th Street is the scariest, or even Church Street.

I worked on Mercer St. doing repave job for a company back in the '70s. Had to run a jack hammer trying to keep it from laying over.

I stopped bc the car in front of me was dropping off a Walmart order, and I didn't think I had room to pass on right side bc of parked cars. I assume that's what you are talking about.

@@Tourangie I wrote for the car ahead. She sees you coming from behind and there is an empty space to park on the right side, but she blocks the road and blocks the traffic. Of course, I can't blame anyone without knowing that area. maybe the right side is private property and you can't park there.

Beaver High School became Central High School in the fall of 1957 so the class of '57 was the last one to go to the old high school. The graduation for that class was held in the new high school on Cumberland Road since the auditorium was completed by that time. The fire you mentioned was in 1925 not 1924. The fire gutted the building and it pretty much had to be rebuilt. I think Alex Mahood designed both the original Beaver HS in 1911 and the rebuilding. Fortunately the fire was over a weekend and started while no one was in the building so no one was injured. South Mercer St. is really steep but as someone mentioned 4th St. has a section that may even be steeper. When I was growing up that part of 4th St. only had a pedestrian stairway and cars were not allowed. They took out the stairs and paved it later. You took 3rd St. past the old high school so 4th was the next street up. Oddly enough there is no First or Second St. in Bluefield WV. The first street up from Bluefield Ave. is Rogers St instead of Second St. then 3rd and 4th. I was never sure why but that's the way they named them. OK that's enough useless trivia.

I was losing the light of the day and my phone recording in my dash of car was about to die. The steepness of the hill going up was what was so scary to me and how there was loose pavement in middle of road. When I rewatched before posting I hated it got so dark at top and going down hill with out having sunlight helping the video
