    Skipping rope is also a great exercise to shorten contact time and strengthen ankle and calve muscles

    I imagine a wall is behind my back, and after the ground contact, I try my landing leg not to touch the imaginal wall, that image makes my ground contact shorter and recovery of the legs more faster.

    Depth jumps are very intense on the calves and tendons. It is recommended to only do a set of them once or twice a week.

    I remember doing plyometrics in college in the 80s. And I remember how much strength and speed (power) I gained... watching my high jump teammate's eyes bug out as I blew him off the track running curves.

    For me, I used to run a 4.3 40 with little training. I just did lunges/high skips. I’m also 6’2 and played a lot of bball and football. On top of god given talent.

      pretty sure they are good for top speed but even if they’re not, it’s good for running in general. so do them anyways

      ​@@haventseenhim I would gradually add them into your workouts starting at 1-2 plyo sessions per week. This will help prevent injury since plyo exercises generate a lot of stress in the lower legs. Maybe start with 4-5 exercises for 3 sets of 6 reps each and work up from there.

    Usain Bolt has one of the longest ground contact times of elite sprinters. Does GCT really matter? Does it correlate with lower limb length? Taller= longer. Maybe there is a ratio?

    How many sets for the pogos and for how much time. Should you focus on ground contact time or explosiveness or both?

      3-5 sets with 3-6 reps no more reps than that as you will get tired and not produce maximum force focus on ground contact time so keeping your legs mostly straight and getting up as fast as posssiblr and longer geound contact times with more force so squatting a little and exploding up so yes do both

      @@edwindez484 do you mean the stretch shortening cycle? That’s just a cycle what you use to evaluate ground contact times think of it like a graph then the exercises are what you put into the graph to make it happen

    You want more ground time tho , the faster you go the less ground time you have therefore causing less force to be able to push off the ground eventually maxing out your speed that’s why it’s so important to do strength training cause you need more power the less time you have on the ground
