Hey, my old man got lost once bow hunting in Alabama. I looked for him yelled flashed headlights and freaked out, at least as much as Warb. After about two hours, I drove to town to ask the law for help. This was before cell phones. The cops at the station were having dinner, and weren't in any real hurry. Which lookng back was understandable, I suppose they'd heard the lost hunter ruotine before. Meanwhile, my old man being lost saw a light across a cornfield, so he took off for it. He knocked on the door, the farmer was suspicious but said he'd give him a ride, but to wait outside. The farmer called the law, because on the news that night, there had been a report of an escaped inmate from the road crew. Shortly a deputy arrived and after questioning and my dad not fitting the description, he drove the old man to the police station to meet back up with me. Thankfully it all worked out and we didn't need the helicopter.😂
Greg deserves an Oscar for that third "lookout!" So much emotion. I started laughing when it said the stick was "snake-like" cus I knew what was coming. Still wasn't prepared for Aaron's golden reaction!
About 10 years ago I was hunting public land in Missouri and was woke up at 2:00 in the morning by high speed pursuit of one car coming out of the conservation area on the service road and 10 police cars following him with their lights on no sirens must have been 20 ft from my tent. Dukes of Hazzard style them damn Duke boys.
Newer to hunting, this is the first video I have watched on this channel. I have to say I have learned more watching this video than pretty much every other hunting show I've watched combined. You really break down your process instead of just showing the "kill cam". Keep up the great work!

I notice you guys typically wear low top foot gear. I have worn some type of knee high boot for years. They work great crossing shallow creeks and muddy areas and they also allow you to tuck your pants inside to reduce ticks and chiggers from going to all the wrong places. Also can protect against snake bite and protect your lower legs from briars and jagged sticks and rocks.

Funny how when you're looking for turkeys they are somewhere else! When NOT looking they're everywhere! I was headed out to my deer stand at 0 dark thirty one morning on Ft. Benning, GA and walked under a bunch of them roosting in a big tree. They all flushed and scared the holy CR*P outta me!! In Alabama west of Ft. Rucker where I was a HUEY instructor, we spent a lot of time chasing turkeys around in some of our landing zones with the HUEYs.! FUN, FUN, FUN!!! Another time, one of my student pilots looking out the side window said "WOW! Look at the size of this PHEASANT! Well, guess what..that guy was from Vermont or somewhere like that and when we turned the aircraft around to take a look, it sure was NOT a PHEASANT!! LOL!!
Noticing ‘important’ patterns, and heeding the warnings of those you trust is what has kept us alive all these long years. Snake-stick was funny as heck tho 😂

So crazy because I had a similar experience in PA several years ago. They shined the light down on our vehicle from a copter at o-dark thirty as we were just parking to get ready to head in for an early turkey hunt. A few minutes later a state trooper shows up and hits the truck with a spotlight. Needless to say I was stunned because obviously we didn't want any trouble but had our shotguns laying out which may have made the officers nervous. Turns out they were looking for a person who they suspected was suicidal and when they pinged his cell it triangulated into our area. The copter saw our vehicle and sent in the foot patrol to check it out... They ended up finding the person on a different part of the mountain later and he had indeed followed through with their suspicion. It was an experience I'll never forget.
LMAO!!! 🤣 I done the same thing to a friend of mine with an old engine belt in the road I knew about. Breaking daylite we walked by it and I said "watch that snake" and he done the splits and about knocked me out with the gun stock 🥴
Guess we know who gonna get these guy's outta trouble when it arrives. Greg! It is crazy how people's imagination just runs away with ya sometimes. Lesson learned don't leave your vehicle open with the keys, guns,etc.. even if you do think your all alone. Squeaky shocks and springs make a great locator call for turkeys! Don’t lube them up! It has helped me out a couple times pullin up to tha woods to hunt 🤣🤣🤣

Judging from the dirt it’s pretty far south Alabama and judging from the helicopter not being the sheriffs that pretty much puts you around Ft. Rucker. Maybe next year you could go west to east on northern Alabama and hit 5-8 wmas and even get into some TVA public too.

If a helicopter is shining the ground at night in Alabama, it’s usually a Med Evac helicopter getting ready to land. The state trooper helicopter looks for lost hunters/hikers sometimes if they’re asked. They do high line rescue too. Pretty cool to watch.
Many years ago in Jasper County, Georgia I pulled the jeep into camp after an early season bowhunt and walked over to 3 other club members apparently standing there in the weak light of the porch light talking. I walked over and stopped and one of them looked down and said Omygod a SNAKE!. I glanced down, saw a big snake on the ground and did a snake dance very similar to Aaron's. It was a dead copperhead one of them had killed and stretched out for my benefit. It was pretty funny, even though they scared the piss out of me. Deer camp memories---ain't they wonderful?
It may have ended up as a good laugh but you'll never go wrong paying attention to your surroundings. It could have easily been something much worse. Good call!!!
Are you guys in or around the town of Guin in Northwest Alabama and if so I’ve hunted on that WMA before and there’s a lot of turkey there! Gotta watch those wooden snakes Warb, they getcha every time. I stepped on a stick one time that was buried under the leaves and an old boss of mine was walking in front of me and the stick popped up in front of his feet and he screamed out like a little girl! 😂🙄🐍🦃 I’m from Georgia, Good Luck 🍀 Guys!
Ft Rucker I believe it is in Alabama does a ton of helicopter runs/missions. I used to have a lease up there, and they would fly low enough to hit them with a rock all over it.

You did right buying the 10 day license. Annual Alabama Hunting licenses expire on July 31 so you would have to buy another one for deer season.
