Asmon's mention of the sub count always posted made me think: One company stops posting how many subs they got because they just keep losing them, meanwhile another company begs people to stop buying their product because they don't even have enough room on their servers for them all. That is the peak of "oof".
FFXIV as much as I enjoy it is not too hard for anyone. I’ve literally left in the middle of a dungeon for 10 minutes, came back and got “GGs” all around. Nobody even noticed. Btw, I was at work and got called away… I tried to hold off as long as I could before I had to run.

I mean, school is just a setting. Everything depends on an author and what kind of story they'd like to tell. It's just that the anime market is oversaturated with shounen anime involving high schoolers (hence the name of subgenre) , which warps the overall overall perception of the setting itself and makes a lot of people scrunch their nose the moment they see a teen mc on the screen.

I had zero nostalgia for vanilla as I started in legion, but I definitely played the everliving fuck out of classic. Maybe something's wrong with my brain, but I definitely enjoyed just logging in for an hour here or there, slapping out a few quests on an alt, maybe farm dreamfoil and dark runes on my main for a little bit, and then dipping out. I enjoyed that it was a solved game in a lot of ways. I liked that there were defined aspects I could get decent at and just spend a little while doing here or there. If I wanted to multitask I could just skip the mana pots and save a little money while farming DME. Was it a good game? Eh, maybe not. Did I have fun? That, I cannot deny. Everyone warned me Vanilla was awful but it absolutely kept me sane through quarantine in mid 2020. 5:46 Had he not said he quit, there are a few instances i think the scaling is a bit unforgiving. Your gear will still allow you to clear, but not paying attention for like 8 seconds is enough for a wipe. Trials, you will likely die because you're new to the game. It's expected. But that is one of the reasons why people will just stay after the 5th attempt. If you have a keyboard and don't hate life, you'll pass. Might be unfortunate people can't immediately figure out what needs to be done, but after a while you get it. Stormblood would be the time trials and dungeons have mechanics that are new and I guess harder, if you're not use to the current indicators. It sounds like this guy did not want to deal will the tab target, click on the words/glowing item, or trying to deal with 3 mechanics in a dungeon. Even if they keep dying, I feel like either the story or community of people encouraging to keep going would have kept him trying again, but I guess not.
I agree with asmongold, Social Media hasn't created stupidity, it made the revelation of stupidity faster without also providing the later benefit of people getting rid of their stupidity because now you can't poke fun at stupid people anymore and have it potentially affect them for the better because they can just block you now. I love how the act of grinding has been progressively turned into farming vernacular-wise. I remember when things being too grindy was awful, but people knew how to differentiate between farming and grinding, that farming is something that pays off while grinding almost never did.
@7:00, I recently encountered a WOW player who was shit talking raid content in all other mmos, and when I dug into why he feels the way he does, it’s because he only likes huge raids where individual responsibility isn’t a factor. Like ok I can respect wanting a more casual experience but why shit on other games just because their group content requires more responsibility per player?
Wow yes Asmongold. Terbium Sun was my favorite C&C. The mood and setting of it was great, units were balanced (except artillery was OP at the start but they patched it.)
FFXIV being too hard for WoW players would explain why I've run into so many people that I can outplay using my toes on a controller. I remember when it was extremely rare to have someone get killed 5-10 times by the same mechanics, now it happens every other time you queue into a roulette

honestly my big franchise in anime is gundam, and not the spin offs that traditionally are well known in the west but the original one, and the sequals to it, so what is known as UC gundam. it has a very well built up world and the story while basic builds on itself solidly, IT also helps that i have a great joy in building model kits

I do actually prefer the way WoW structured quests/dungeons. When a dungeon had gear you needed you did it and if you did it a bunch and over leveled maybe you skip a zone. In FFXIV you are on rails, if you stop to farm or raid you are just wasting time because the MSQ progress limits what you can do with those levels. WoW you can go "okay I talk to all these people and get some story, now I go explore and run these zone quests with youtube in the BG, now I do some raids with metal music in the BG." in FF it's like cut-scene, dungeon, cut-scene, cut-scene, travel and then more cut-scenes, a fetch quest or two, another cut-scene, a trail, more cut-scenes.
well one thing that the troll got right is the bullshit that you have to run dungeons and trials on MSQ in FF14. spent 15-20 times half an hour waiting for queue to pop just for someone not to accept, really sucks wating so much time on waiting
I leveled WHM while I was going through ARR’s main story, and ever since realizing I get literally instant queues, it’s all I ever take into any dungeon. I still use my DRG to go through the story and prefer to use it in party finder, but I definitely don’t regret leveling WHM when I did and I suggest anyone and everyone interested in the game do the same.
I mean, I hate the FFXIV solo duties a LOT, usually fail on purpose to put it on very easy, especially when they make me fight as a different character then myself. But the rest of it? I LOVE dungeons and trials in MSQ. I'm always excited for the next one to come up.
The mention of element sent me back, I remember back then when Danny jumped the great wall of china on his board....That shit was crazy and blew my little 10 year old mind.
ngl I liked classic even though I don't have the nostalgia thing. I never had an mmo where doing normal quests were relatively hard, having to team up with players was fun.
I remember this warrior we invited for magtheridon's lair specificly to interrupt. He didnt interrupt. turns out he never even learned the ability cause he didnt know what it did.
So in like this old show called The Guild (made by Felecia Day and originally posted to youtube as 6 seasons/videos) and in their version of The Game they released an expac that included Guild Halls you could purchase and the guild leader wanted to get protection for all sides including aerial even though there was no feature and i think blizzard should actually release something like that. A version of bgs where guilds could compete in aerial combat on dragons or other flying mounts and like protect their guild halls and whichever hall takes most damage within 20-25 mins or is broken down fully first, is the loser. It just sounds so fun
That corrupted blood post is so true. I don't think we'll ever go back to that time when we didn't have to worry about self centered people endangering everyone else around them. Sometimes I wish I could have that same ignorance instead of forever looking at those people in disgust.
You know, they could explain away flying, and make players earn it, the same way that FarCry 6 does, if they really wanna lock it. There's anti-aircraft crap, and each area you take over, once you do the quests in that zone, you siege the anti-aircraft weapons, allowing you to fly in that zone, as soon as you're done with the main quest line. Simple! And if you did that everywhere, instead of having to purchase the skill, or grind for it, it'd make sense.
People play classic because people like that particular game... I don't play retail because I hate that game, and I play classic because its actually fun to me. Attributing it to nostalgia is totally overblown. Nostalgia will make you come back and revisit, but the hundreds of thousands of people playing it for hundreds/thousands of hours just enjoy these particular versions of the game. I'm not thinking of the past when i play vanilla/tbc, i'm enjoying seeing numbers get steadily bigger, getting items with purple text on it, competing to do top dmg, and clearing raids fast. I think the old versions of WoW did it best. Also, since when do people not want to replay old games? If a movie is old, is that impossible to genuinely enjoy? And you don't have to buy the expansions, you just pay a sub, what is that guy on about?
I want someone to make a video about why specifically WotLK was better than..idk shadowlands. Because when it comes down to it, I think people miss the memories, and the nostalgia, not the actual gameplay. Show me why the systems in place were better, why the gameplay was better? Or is because its the same shit over and over again? For me its great because I started playing for the first time at the end of BFA, so its all new to me and I genuinely love it. I'm having a blast with my friends playing shadowlands, and absolutely hated playing FF14.

People love to hate on Asmongold, but i think a huge part of his popularity is just how down to earth and relatable he is. He is genuine even in times that it would make him seem like a less than desirable person. That makes him rare and pretty fucking amazing in my book.
The hard part about Final Fantasy for me is being willing to sacrificing the expectation of good gameplay because it “has a great story.” Sorry but not sorry: that isn’t enough for me. I expect more from WoW and I expect more from FF. I have given it a lot of time, too. Level 74 with no boosts. When 70 and 80 were cap. Also I know for a lot of people the gameplay combined with the story….it’s enough. And that’s ok!
Yeah! I don't read quests, when I play I play. I can spend hours listening to lore videos and recaps, that's all fine, but the gameplay needS to be solid. Ff14 is not all that attractive in that arena, currently level 60. I hate that the group regens betweens pulls, its part of the skill as a healer to be efficient with your mana, this seems to be a none issue in dungeons in ff14. A healers job should be to keep the group alive, avoiding the need to slow down the group by drinking and weaving in damage, that's the recipe wow has. In ff14, a healer is a person that deals moderate damage while weaving in heals. No experience of raids in ff14 or endgame dungeons, can't speak to those. Maybe ff14 just don't have a class for me and that's fine.
@@MikeTall88 100% agree. I love lore videos and recaps which goes to show I like to consume story in a movie / book fashion. Not through a game. I need the gameplay. The raiding is solid in terms of it being difficult, but for many players like us, difficult doesn’t equate to good. Much prefer WoW and EverQuest raids. Good point too….regarding the need to master pacing in a competitive dungeon environment. Agreed.
@@MikeTall88 I mean, that's understandable, but a healer that plays one way in a game you've played before is not going to play the exact same way in another mmo lol
I don’t want to be rude, but I played with a pretty bad player before in ffxiv who played WoW beforehand. We were in a dungeon and he was tank and didn’t turn on tank stance once and the two DPS were about to quit but I decided to take the role as tank AS A SAGE. My health was the lowest too out of all of us
The thing about throwing the eyes is that there suppose to be very strong wind aether current down there, and it was expected that the eyes just get shred by them
About the msq guy, Ffxiv players are just hella casual. I started ffxiv in june last year a few weeks before asmongold and I kept reading about the msq being hard and taking years to complete and then I had completed it in a month and a half. Then I realized that just like wow and any other game, most of the people that comment about them on youtube or anywhere else are just casual players who play about an hour or 2 a day.
Red Alert (Command & Conquer 2) rocked but the ones after that sucked. Sorry. All you had to do was try playing one of those and then compare to the version of Age of Empires at that time and Total Annihilation to expose all the short-comings of C&C 3 and 4. The interface, the unit variety and number of units / performance, and so much more. That said, my best LAN party memories are playing Red Alert (C&C 2) and Warcraft 1 and 2 with friends in a garage. We spent almost as much time troubleshooting network issues, cables, cards, etc. as we did playing the games.

Had to look this person up, from their comments apparently they're a senior citizen who only enjoys solo content. They don't raid or dungeon or anything. I question why they're playing an mmo, but to each their own.
@@sylversakura9328 the funny thing, FF has a lot more enjoyable causal solo content than wow =)
My Mr. Incredibles meme made it! I'm so proud of myself! Thanks for reacting Asmon!
Where's the music playing during Endwalker bit from please?
@@noxzorz Might be wrong but it sounds like something from Two Steps To Hell? idk but it's a common song I've heard a few times.
I think you bring up a good point - WoW or FFXIV, i wouldn't say either is more "casual" friendly, both CAN be casual friendly, or hardcore, but BOTH games are successful because they cater to both , albeit in different ways. there'll always be brand loyalists, but its fine to like both or like one more than another for various reasons
And those companies can do this fake advertisement without any problem from the platform, but as soon as you let 3ms of a song play in your video you will be demonatized like in an instant.....

At least with flying it would make sense that there were some anti aerial mechanism, whether it is some cannons or a plague that you eventually get rid of like the eye. Your mount out of nowhere remembers how to flap its wings is stupid.
flying isn't the issue, never was. It exists since BC...
FF XIV has flying too, not an issue.
@@thierryfaquet7405 this is about pathfinder.
A DUNGEON, dude. Not a raid or a trial, a normal dungeon. It's only as difficult as the content you seek out.
@@palladiamorsdeus same as everything, then.
Dungeons are content that you'll rarely wipe in or even get KO'd to begin with. Can't step away from Extreme or Savage content
School days was well beyond what you ever could expect from slice of life. It isn't. Haruhi and Monogatari were both neat unique anime that are set in high school, very talky heavy tho. Madoka is also in highschool but is fantastic.
Kakegurui is also amazing and bleach is kind of high school
I mean, school is just a setting. Everything depends on an author and what kind of story they'd like to tell. It's just that the anime market is oversaturated with shounen anime involving high schoolers (hence the name of subgenre) , which warps the overall overall perception of the setting itself and makes a lot of people scrunch their nose the moment they see a teen mc on the screen.
14:05 okay my internet went out for a day, and in that time i got the 613 USD i had on a old bank account transferred, talked to my landlord about a problem i have with the sink, fixed my bills so i was sure everything was billed correct and cleaned my room, everything things i had put off for like 2 or more weeks
Classic WoW has taught me that you can never relive nostalgia.
True.
But I had a great time.
Classic wow is considered a very successfull project though.
The game was still the same for the most part, but the people playing it, were not.
that was the valuable lesson we all got.
Its blizzard that fucked it up. Vanilla like. Or even vanilla + private servers are still very popular because they know what they fans want
@@akhsdenlew1861 remember, we had to PLAY it first to realise it's not the same. And by doing so we learned and moved on. Which since Classic WoW was the first "big MMO" that did this officially, we haven't had prior experince to such formats (Runescape player dont talk pls)
The worst part was a few of my guildies were super toxic, but let me tell you, that's not a problem retail had solved.
Man, back in Mists knowing what the entirety of your ability book did was an accomplishment. I had all my bars full without macros it felt like, but priest had insane ability bloat. Lesser heal, heal, greater heal, flash heal, disc had fucking 300 options and half of them were useful in different situations. What a time to be alive
The hate for MoP is insane. Shit was better than legion in many ways.
MoP is still my favorite expansion to date and I'll die on that hill if I have to.
@@troodon1096 yep. Amazing class design. New content each patch that was completely optional and not tied to some bullshit system. No forced grind. Probably the best exp for raiding. The only obvious valid complaint could be the story but that's subjective anyway.

Random animes I recall watching: Trigun and Samurai X. Both were pretty short, many folks didn’t liked but I enjoyed them. And I still enjoy both Dragon Ball and InuYasha. But then, I watched Akira, when it was brand spanking new.

Yuri’s revenge was also amazing
What's ironic is that people arent using the stripper poles for nfsw shit, it's literally being used as piping for people's house glamour LMAO

0079 was legit.
I would LOVE to see a remastered one year war. I still have the boxset of the 0079 movies.
Even gundam wing still had some of the political intrigue.

Fun fact, Delayedwatch2 has more delay reports than actual updates. And the updates we have gotten are: 'Look a this shadows' or 'look at this remodel'. Is just sad at this point.
That School Days reference and all I could think was "oh no."
WoW you can go "okay I talk to all these people and get some story, now I go explore and run these zone quests with youtube in the BG, now I do some raids with metal music in the BG." in FF it's like cut-scene, dungeon, cut-scene, cut-scene, travel and then more cut-scenes, a fetch quest or two, another cut-scene, a trail, more cut-scenes.
you got a like for the element hoodie in the skatepark vibe! damn i miss that
RIP to my fossil old system when it seen how many yt & reddit tabs you had open w/o delays.
well one thing that the troll got right is the bullshit that you have to run dungeons and trials on MSQ in FF14. spent 15-20 times half an hour waiting for queue to pop just for someone not to accept, really sucks wating so much time on waiting
I'm always excited for the next one to come up.
where does Asmon stream now? I didn't see his channel on twitch pop up?
The mention of element sent me back, I remember back then when Danny jumped the great wall of china on his board....That shit was crazy and blew my little 10 year old mind.
ngl I liked classic even though I don't have the nostalgia thing. I never had an mmo where doing normal quests were relatively hard, having to team up with players was fun.
Where does asmon stream these reactions? There aren't any vods on twitch...
I remember this warrior we invited for magtheridon's lair specificly to interrupt. He didnt interrupt. turns out he never even learned the ability cause he didnt know what it did.

The Classic WoW Tournament was three years ago? What the fuck is even happening.
And you don't have to buy the expansions, you just pay a sub, what is that guy on about?
i dont know why people are making a big deal about that chocobo, when you have all stars an supersprint as a heriditary skill its 100%
NFL Blitz for N64 is the best sports game ever made.

My health was the lowest too out of all of us
why is this unlisted?
Why's the video hidden?
The thing about throwing the eyes is that there suppose to be very strong wind aether current down there, and it was expected that the eyes just get shred by them
fun fact using someone's likeness in a product or advertisement is a good way to get sued being that its highly illigal.
Ah yes, Endwalker... the greatest expansion to WoW ever 👌.
As someone who went into FF14 as a tank, blind AND a WoW refugee... what the fuck lmao
Why unlisted!?
The problem isn't even needing to unlocking flying every xpac, it's the fkn time gate blizzard puts on it......
I was definitly a Broodwar nerd at that time. Sad that these wonderful days are gone...
